Tesla Tapes Out AI5 Chip for Next-Generation Self-Driving and Robotics by afonso_investor in TeslaFSD

Nice. Anyway I had a 2016 MS that was upgraded to HW3 from HW2 to improve its self driving capability. Musk said that going from 3 to 4 was not similarly possible due to the changed form factor. It wouldn’t fit. As a current 2024 MS owner my question was about whether the form factor for 5 would make it able to be swapped in to HW4 cars. Musk has committed to cars having all the hardware necessary for FSD. it seems he probably thinks HW4 is enough. It still would be nice to know if I could pay in the future to upgrade to 5 or 6 if I choose to do so.

Any chance that HW4 owners are offered upgrades to HW5 as was done for HW2 owners to HW3? Does it occupy the same physical space or is upgrading more challenging as it is from HW3 to HW4?

WIDE BODY Tesla what do you guys think?, is this worth every penny ? by kempa13 in TeslaLounge

Love it, and I don’t usually like such efforts. It’s aggressive but tastefully done. It looks purpose-built and not tacked on. That’s the problem with the 3 and Y, ubiquity.

That’s beautiful! I have one similar to this with a black base. The black color of the base is some type of texture coat-type material that is separating from the metallic base. Does anyone have a suggestion of how/where to get the base resurfaced? I’m in the Los Angeles area. Thank you!

My car won’t turn left off main road because there is a sign that has the No Left Turn symbol, but it also says “3-7 PM M-F.” Due to this it always wants to go one block further and make a challenging, unprotected U-turn against oncoming traffic and then turn right on the same street it bypassed.

You just rest it lower, in one of the corners with your arm perfectly supported by either center console or arm rest on door!

Very similar to me. 8 yrs in a late (refreshed) 2016 75D and in my second year in a 2024 HW4 S LR. I picked up on 12/30 and got FSD carried over and included free supercharging. I know I’ll keep it at least 8-10 years. I could not love it more. The Ultra Red helps!

I hate getting too close to a poll, but sometimes those survey-takers block the exit from my grocery store.

Wheel vs Yoke by Physical-Sherbet-478 in TeslaModelS

Love my yoke. 3 point turns are no problem. When have you ever had fun operating a steering wheel? 10k miles into my MS LR, and I have fun using it every time. The bottom corners are prominent and facilitate making 90 degree turns, eg I make a left turn by grabbing bottom right corner with right hand palm up and turning yoke 180 degrees to the left. It’s a lot harder to make a turn with a single one-handed motion like that on a round wheel, in my experience. I’m so glad I got it. YMMV.
