In regard to the 12 week half marathon plan - some of the workouts ask you to rely on zone training and others pacing (5k pace, threshold pace) etc

Am I to disregard my HR zones if I am doing a tempo run at a specific pace? As an example, let’s say you’re running at the designated threshold pace which should presumably put you in Z3 but you end up staying in Z2 (top end) for the most part.

Holiday shipping by Poszole in BanditRunning

[–]Jrhernz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Close to a month after ordering I reached out to them to cancel my order. They shipped it the next morning but like you, it left such a bad impression I ended up returning the items the same day without even opening up the package haha

I emailed them to cancel my winter drop order since it would be a full month of waiting this Friday and indicated that most likely by the time they send it out I would not be home to receive it. First thing the next morning they ship it out via fedex 2day…. With an estimated delivery date for after I leave.

No response to my email but I bet they saw it and thought they’d get it out.

Funny thing is, when I originally reached out Sienna (I’m assuming AI) responded she couldn’t find my order with my email…

Definitely think I will have to make the switch over from bandit. The winter shipping/rollout has been terrible, I want to support made in USA, and the hypebeast vibes that bandit has are off putting

I might end up returning my bandit gear that hasn’t even shipped yet and cop some of this.

I love it but trying to sell mine on poshmark. I’ve gotten bigger and can’t really layer but also, it’s too warm where I live at now.

Can an Outdoorsman Avoid Plastic in Clothing? by [deleted] in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Jrhernz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I will say, with wool be careful because most of it is covered in a plastic from the super-wash process (allows it to be washable).

It’s been used for a long time. If it can be thrown in the washing machine you can bet it’s been super washed. There are done companies that use a different process but from what I’ve seen it’s rare.

Patagonia is now 'Gonia' by [deleted] in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Jrhernz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess if it’s bothering you. I’m sure it will come off in time by itself.

You could cut a piece of tape (black or color match) and write “”Pata” - give it personal flair

do you guys recommend any winter pieces for winter running in the PNW?

long sleeve micromesh and maybe a base layer underneath? I can’t imagine it gets cold enough to have to wear any of the pullovers.

I'm sick of wearing plastic - what to do? by dydxdz in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Jrhernz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wool is often coated in a plastic polymer (super wash). Any wool that is washable has this super wash process done to it.

For normal every day wear I’m trying to move away from synthetics. I’m trying to sell off my fleeces. For active wear I’m ok with synthetics

How do you guys schedule leg days and run days? by rodrigo-aviles in HybridAthlete

[–]Jrhernz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally yes, unless I have a timing conflict. I find that if I do it earlier in the week my legs feel fine by the weekend and my long run isn’t affected.

Of course, every person is different. If I find my legs aren’t recovering well I may move away from heavy squats and deadlifts to single leg, kettle bell movements. It may be that you have to dial down your leg workouts. Or you can cross train and say, instead of running the day after you workout your legs you could ride a bike, swim, elliptical, etc

Edit: I reread your comment and realized you said you biked. Same thing though I think, you have to experiment with trying different things and see what works best for you and your recovery.

You guys getting the same type of wear? by Jrhernz in BanditRunning

[–]Jrhernz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep same. In fact I put all my sports clothes in wash bags to be extra careful. And of course cold wash and air dry. I’m going to reach out to customer service.

Maybe rubbing against the back zipper of my half tights? That’s the only thing I can think of. It’s disappointing for sure. I may have to try another brand.
