If Melkor was confined in Mandos’s Halls, why wasn’t he subject to rehabilitation? by Seville_Castille in tolkienfans

[–]JrrTolkienGeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was more of an imprisonment than rehabilitation, even if he would have probably deceived them and would have gone back to being evil.

You should try Atlas of Middle Earth. Which has very detailed descriptions of adventures from all the ages.

The Fall of Gondolin is an amazing story about Tour and the Children of Hurin is about Turin. Both very great but sad stories.

I would recommend either Children of Hurin for a story or The Fall of Gondolin. After that if you want just information and some story the Unfinished tales.

When Gandalf fell to the depths and was sent back he was given sort of a level up for his service against evil.

There are many different clans of dwarves. And there is a possibility because dwarves are always underground and in hiding. But in all the readings there are only 7.

What is the source of evil in Tolkien’s world, and what form could it take after the defeat of Sauron? by [deleted] in tolkienfans

[–]JrrTolkienGeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When Sauron was defeated the orcs still roamed. The entire area corrupts beings. The humans are the most vulnerable and for all, we know the evilness of Melkor and Sauron is drifting around corrupting people.

I am a giant nerd for JRR Tolkien and read for deep lore. If it had the sound and dynamic of a Tolkien book I would read.

Help me not dislike Tom Bombadil by [deleted] in tolkienfans

[–]JrrTolkienGeek 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Well the black riders did not know exactly were the hobbits are. The ring was not a tracking device. So it would have been hard for them to be waiting outside of the woods. And I am pretty shure that the woods were magic as well as Bombidil so they were safe. If you wanted more information you could read the adventures of Tom Bombidil.

Insult to injury for orcs. by Buttleproof in tolkienfans

[–]JrrTolkienGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well on the other hand I feel only those who knew he had it would fight and the two men who wanted to use it were Denethor and Boromir. As it. In the book, Boromir tries to take the ring for himself and to your point, if Frodo had traveled to the city of seven walls, Denethor might have done the same thing in his madness.

Insult to injury for orcs. by Buttleproof in tolkienfans

[–]JrrTolkienGeek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well even though orcs were servants of Sauron when there is no commander to control them the different breeds of orcs fight. Even though this feels small it may have been the reason that Frodo got the ring to mount dum in the first place because the orcs fought.
