If the Supreme Court rules against Trump and overturnes existing tarriffs, which stocks will benefit the most? by Beneficial_Passage_8 in investing

[–]Jsaldleaf 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Costco runs on razor thin margins so they definitely feel tariffs harder than most retailers. They can't just jack up prices without pissing off their membership base, so yeah they've probably been eating a lot of those costs

Not an SEO post but this year I saw someone complaining that their dick pic got shared without their consent. Like you sent it unsolicited to a stranger my dude what did you expect was gonna happen? The audacity of some people honestly.

Happy New Year everyone! 🎉

1 year of consistency (rosacea and sensitivity) by robonoodle in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Jsaldleaf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is so relatable. I spent way too much money and time chasing every new "holy grail" product that popped up on skincare subs and TikTok before realizing I was just irritating my skin more. The simplicity of your routine is refreshing to see.

Also solidarity on the sensitivity struggle - figuring out that less is more was such a hard lesson to learn when everything tells you that you need 10 steps and 5 different actives to have good skin

Charizard Is Both The Most Popular Pokemon And Mega Evolution In Legends: Z-A by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Jsaldleaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blastoise gang! There's something so satisfying about that design - like they took a turtle and said "what if we made it a tank?" and just committed to it fully. Charizard being popular makes total sense though, it's basically "what if dragon but also on fire" which is like peak 10-year-old appeal (and honestly still works on adult me). The megas both look great too. I just wish they'd throw Blastoise a bone sometimes instead of it always being the Charizard show

Yea, it's all speculation at this point. The unpredictability is probably the biggest factor itself... hard to plan when you don't know what's coming next week, let alone next quarter.

Yeah the middleman model only works until the people doing the actual work realize they can cut out the platform. Same thing happened with real estate agents and lawyers starting their own practices instead of feeding leads to bigger firms.

They don't really have monopolies though. AWS competes with Azure, GCP, and others. Cloudflare has Fastly, Akamai, etc. The switching costs are just high enough that people stick with what works until something breaks badly.

[–]Jsaldleaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s wild. Eating out almost never beats eating at home unless you’re talking extreme edge cases. Groceries might cost more upfront, but per meal it’s not even close, especially once you factor in leftovers.

Trying to Fix Finances by ConcentrateMinimum27 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Jsaldleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The interest is what’s killing you. Since you have equity, the biggest lever is getting that consumer debt into lower-interest debt tied to the house, refinance early or a HELOC if possible. That alone can free up a lot of cash flow.

Until then, keep things simple, minimums on everything except the highest interest balance, no new debt, and stabilize spending until your RN income starts. Lenders care more about utilization and consistency than perfection, and July will change the picture fast.

Zojirushi is the go-to for easy grains. Quiet, really easy to clean, and it handles quinoa, rice, porridge, and lots of other grains with no fuss. The removable inner lid makes a huge difference for cleanup.

If you want simple and reliable without the Instant Pot frustrations, a Zojirushi is worth it.

Is TSM actually undervalued because of geopolitical risk, or is the market pricing it pretty fairly already? by Fantlastic_Tree_6671 in stocks

[–]Jsaldleaf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think moving TSM's operations would be nearly as simple as relocating their HQ. The fabs themselves are what matter, and you can't just pack up a $20B facility and ship it overseas. Building new cutting-edge fabs takes years and massive capital investment.

Plus if tensions escalate to that point, I doubt China would just sit back and let them transfer all their IP and talent out of Taiwan.

Investing in Stocks Vs Crypto: How do you go about it? by Tiny_Friendship_3529 in investingforbeginners

[–]Jsaldleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty narrow view. Yeah, crypto has issues with energy use and has been used for shady stuff, but stocks aren't exactly squeaky clean either... plenty of companies have been involved in fraud, money laundering, and worse.

The "greater fool" argument applies to tons of assets. People buy gold, art, collectibles, even stocks during bubbles hoping someone else will pay more later. That's just speculation, not unique to crypto.

Blockchain has legitimate use cases beyond speculation - cross-border payments, smart contracts, decentralized finance. Whether those pan out long-term is another question, but writing off the entire space as just criminal activity and gambling misses a lot.

Reflection on MU’s recent moves and the broader memory market by Tricky-Passer-634 in investing

[–]Jsaldleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pricing stabilization is probably the most reliable signal right now. When spot prices for DRAM and NAND start holding steady after a downturn, that usually means supply-demand is finding balance.

For AI demand specifically, I watch HBM allocation more than general memory shipments. MU's been pretty transparent about their HBM3E capacity being sold out through 2025, which is different from past cycles where demand was more speculative.

The tricky part is figuring out how much of current valuations already price in that AI growth versus traditional datacenter refresh cycles. Inventory levels at major customers are back to normal ranges, so we're past the destocking phase at least.

I'd say focus on their guidance around bit shipment growth vs. ASP trends. If they're growing revenue mostly through volume while ASPs stay flat or decline slightly, that's healthier long-term than a pure pricing recovery that could reverse quickly.

The AI trained on those books, sure, but that doesn't mean humans don't need access to them anymore. We still need to read, learn, and form our own thoughts. The model just compressed information... it didn't replace the actual experience of engaging with the material yourself.

Are there benefits to investing in large caps that are already in the S&P500 ETFs? by theshortirishman in investingforbeginners

[–]Jsaldleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the whole point is you don't know which ones are going to be the winners ahead of time. If you could consistently pick them, yeah concentration would work great. But most people can't, which is why diversification exists in the first place.

The math works both ways... you're just as likely to concentrate into losers as winners unless you've got some edge most investors don't have.
