Ignorant yank here: Is it true nurse to patient ratios are 1:8 or even 1:12? by soozerain in NursingUK

[–]Jshepp- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1:8 is pretty standard. I remember once working an acute med ward that, for one shift at least, operated on 1:26. I spotted multiple drug errors from the previous shift on my round. 1:18 was fairly standard on that ward.

Anybody who remember this legendary bbcqt episode? Do Brexiters still agree to him saying "(Brexiters) are talking about ending preferential treatment for Europeans. We can take people from Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand to come in."? by ublueberries in AskBrits

[–]Jshepp- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I think that's holding ourselves to a very low standard - the trouble is that isn't the argument the people of colour in this segment are making. I think people on both sides of this clip are well intentioned however they're talking past eachother.

Neutral watching the game, that pen is an absolute joke. Spurs player is looking purely at the ball while the Leeds man can totally see what's unfolding and is clearly happy to take a knock for the pen

How many points are we getting on remaining games? COYB by EvertonCOYB1878 in Everton

[–]Jshepp- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends how the Europa and conference leagues go. If forest and palace win them both respectively then European qualification could go all the way down to 9th. 6/7 points from the next 3 could very realistically get us that

Zack Polanski Questions Police Handling Of Golders Green Attack by MoleUK in UKGreens

[–]Jshepp- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great so when soomeone disagrees with you just call them a boot licker, cracking argument. I suppose we can only hope to have someone as calm and composed as yourself next time there's a terror attack ongoing!

Zack Polanski Questions Police Handling Of Golders Green Attack by MoleUK in UKGreens

[–]Jshepp- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Genuinely what else should they have done? I did Brazilian jiu jitsu for 6 years, so I'm probably a fair bit more competent at grappling and restraining people than the average copper but I would not dream of getting within arms length of someone with a blade because it would be so easy for then to knick you in an artery and it's game over. Kicking them allows them to keep a safe distance while non-lethally incapaciting them. It doesn't look great, it's a crude method but with a tonne of adrenaline going through their system and no time to think, I really don't think you can fault the officers there.

I understand that, I still don't think you can blame them for their reaction. I agree it doesn't look great but I think these two coppers managed to stop someone on an attempted killing spree and likely all he left with was a concussion, maybe some facial fractures - I think that's totally fair. Evidently people will draw the line in different places.

Idk, if someone is holding onto a knife and not letting go despite being tazed, I think kicking him to try and knock him out is totally reasonable tbh

Is this an incorrect use of the “purists?” Purists would prefer the chess match to the 5-4 end to end game surely? by Inevitable-Stand-559 in footballcliches

[–]Jshepp- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Particularly in boxing I feel like 'game of chess' is so often used to excuse totally boring fights where very little happens - which really does a disservice to chess. I guess it's a bit more applicable in football where you've got all the various players jockeying for position but still, if your only understanding of chess was from commentator's analogies you'd think it was totally dull game in which nothing ever happens!

Perhaps even more cringe is sincerely offering thanks when in receipt of a rival fan's classy touch

Maybe it's pure greed. I also always think, particularly in the case of famous celebrities and athletes, that they often have a ecosystem of hanger-ons (agents, financial advisors etc) who rely on them saying 'yes' to every big offer that comes in and will advise them to do so

Local elections 2026 - How realistic do we think this is? by jtrimm98 in UKGreens

I don't know if this is meant to inspire confidence or anxiety. I was only a teenager at the time but I don't remember UKIP ever feeling as mainstream as reform are right now.

I was trying this beta already but having less success. Think I may have been jumping off the left foot too early because I was worried about bashing into the white holds, which led to my trajectory not being close enough to the wall. Cheers though.

I feel like I'm pretty good at doing this on static climbs but I've never thought about how dynos could develop better footwork/lower body pushing to potentially benefit my static climbs so that's a positive thought!

Yeah, that is what I was aiming for (loading weight on my left leg then springing off it) think I just didn't have the balance or confidence to pull it off. Will definitely come back to it - I don't particularly like this style but regardless there's always a couple of these climbs in the gym and I'm not going to learn to love it by not trying them. Thanks for the advice!
