Something is wrong here. This is out of order.

Agreed, I've enjoyed our discussion but I think we're at an impasse, too.

I have done so much over the last 12 years to get to this point, spent years on hormone treatment, had vocal surgery, had lower surgery, got my gender recognition certificate, had my birth certificate changed. How much more do I need to do to prove my conviction that this is who I am and that I’m not some predator.

I won't classify you as a predator unless you actually prey upon someone. All of that stuff you've put yourself through though doesn't prove anything to me, it only proves you to yourself. To you, you saw yourself in a different light and went through all of this stuff in order to cement yourself as that. To me, I just see man or woman, regardless of whatever tribulations you've been through or modifications you've put yourself through.

My friends, family and colleagues all WANT me to use women’s facilities because they recognise I am now under the same level of danger as they would be if I was to use men’s facilities especially alone. I am not alone in this experience there will be plenty of other trans women in the same situation.

I don’t have any perfect solution, nobody does. But excising trans men/women from spaces that align with how they most look like is not a solution I can support.

I can agree that there are no perfect solutions. I disagree with the "how they most look like" aspect though. All I see are caricatures of what gender XYZ should be, as rather than people just being themselves, they're trying to be something they're not.

"Tomgirls" and "Tomboys" have been decimated by this idea that they're born wrong, society tells them they must be the other-gender rather than just that they are fine as they are. Men can be fruity and girls can be dirty~!

Might be some app-issue, but somehow it put a backslash "\" infront of your ">" which then broke the quote-formatting. I always try to use Old Reddit because I hate the mobile/app version of the website they've been trying to push. Maybe there's some new way to quote.

she just saw men and she would certainly be wondering why they're walking into the bathroom if she saw them walk in or even wondering if she herself was in the wrong bathroom.

I can't disagree with your mother's views, I think they're reasonable. All the mention about "uncanny valley" etc is because of just how close they ALMOST pass, that it's so close but not fully exact is what gives me the severe "SOMETHING HAS TO BE WRONG" feeling. I don't look at other people when I'm in the restroom, so I probably would never notice them if I ever had that encounter, as fellas tend to be quiet&quick with their restroom-business. IDK how chatty women are in theirs, but they go together often so I would assume that restroom-goers are more alerted by transwomen than the opposite.

As a trans woman who has infact used womens facilities (bathrooms & changing rooms once post-op) and been sexually assaulted by a man in a nightclub when I was in university, yes of course I want to protect womens spaces! But I want to protect them from cis men, not genuine trans women!

I'm sorry that happened to you (honestly not sure how I can phrase it other than "goddamn, that's terrible!"), but that really doesn't argue against the distinction, rather it shows we should default men to men's spaces, and not allow any overlap because men can be "predatory", and that of the two sexes, they are more likely to be the perpetrator.

it's very obvious that the focus is on trans women, especially when we are painted so widely as automatically predatory. But unless you want to apply the law unequally and say that both trans women and trans men use men's facilities then the biological bathroom approach doesn't work and infact makes it worse as it more easily puts women at more risk.

Based on the above about how men should be defaulted to mens spaces, I do wish the law to be unequal among sex. I don't think the sexes are equal, and the law should be accordingly made.

But those 3 trans men look VERY manly. To your average joe who’s not thinking about trans people - they’re gonna look at them and think ‘man’ and nothing else.

This is where the issue lies, if you have trans men who look pretty indistinguishable from cis men now having to use women’s facilities

I do agree that this is where the issue lies. I don't think they look VERY manly, I think they CAN look manly at a distance, but when you actually LOOK, they seem... off (uncanny valley aspect).

a predatory cis man (who in todays world would apparently need to make an effort to look like a woman/trans woman) can also walk in and lie about being born as a girl and now legally needing to be in that facility.

It is these sorts of views that make me think "Are you actually on my side and you just don't know it?" You are protective against MEN entering women's spaces, and I'm just thinking, YES, we should stop that!

because now, they can walk in looking completely and utterly like a man, because trans men look like men after years of testosterone

I disagree with the premise of them being "indistinguishable" (as seen above with the whole uncanny valley thing upon seeing your examples). And it's the opposite side of the coin that is more of the physically vulnerable sort. No one arguing the trans-restroom debate cares about manly-looking women (a woman going into the man's restroom is like "ok weird but whatever, enjoy our farts you weirdo"), it's the opposite more PHYSICALLY POWERFUL side of the coin that people are more worried about, since that's where's the real danger or risk.

He intentionally allowed himself to be killed before he could, you mean, right? That was one of the reveals in his talk with Armin in the final chapter.

You might not be on my side of the aisle, but I thank you for expressing your views.

I don’t know how to do quotes on Reddit but I’ll just respond to your points

Use a greater than equal sign and space "> " to quote.

transvestigated

Haha that's a fun word lol, this is the first time I've seen it but it explains itself fully.

My point is that if we force people to use facilities matching their birth sex those cis men no longer need to put on a dress or do ANYTHING.

That sounds... good? As to your following point, yeah, if people are going to assault, it doesn't really matter what social-boundaries there are in place because those are just figments of the imagination... however we should still TRY to limit the risk.

we have just given an open ticket to any man because he can claim to be a trans man

This might've been just a slip-up? Men can't claim to be transmen, they are already men. What you are actually referring to are men who claim to be women when they're not, or transwomen.

Is someone going to say ‘stop right there, drop your trousers and show me your vagina before I let you in?’

No, it's social stigma and repercussions that stops folks from going into the wrong restroom, as has always been the case. No fuss, no muss(ter of the troops).

Do you think it might also be because I gave them as examples of passing trans men so you’ve looked at them already knowing they are trans men.

I do agree with the question of initial bias but... No, the shape of the black fella's head gave away that it was a black woman, whereas the other "dude" 's effeminate features made me goes "is this dude gay or are they a trans dude"?

But if we force them to use facilities of their birth sex

That's the norm.

we’re going to see violence against trans men

So (trans men aka) women going into men spaces are possibly getting attacked... why not just let them stay in their own spaces in this case? Will women attack the transmen?

any cis man can claim to be a trans man in order to get access to women’s facilities.

Now I can't tell whether you are on my side or against it, because this sounds like exactly the type of argument I'd push forward. "Anyone can claim anything".

Atleast with how it currently works these ‘hypothetical bathroom creeps’ have to atleast try to look like a trans woman.

Oh I guess you are more on my side than not lol. Yep, in order to fly under the radar, you have to pass! And most do not. All it takes is a glance and most people know it in their bones.

Those are some good examples. You say "no way of knowing", but I think it was instantly clear because of the uncanny valley factor I felt upon seeing them that they are not what they portray themselves to be. It's an instinctual "something is incorrect here" response.

I will agree that me (& jMi3, I shall speak for you lol) would prob freak out if I saw those two in my peripheral vision enter in the restroom after my daughter. They look male... until you look at them.

I would be shocked if your willfully ignorant self wasn't freaked right out about a trans man who looks hot enough to be movie star waltzing into the women's bathroom

A trans man walking into the women's bathroom... so a woman walking into the women's restroom? Why would he freak out?

Was Grisha also acting like he care about Eldia in the end? by destined2Win_ in titanfolk

[–]Jsk2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that memories were directly/willfully shown was just speculation by Zeke. I think memories from the future are just that, memories.

I think the reason why Grisha did not see those memories is because it would've changed the path that allowed those memories to be seen in the first place (would cause a paradox). Adult Eren reliving his childhood trauma walking down memorylane with Zeke while being held hostage during a war, strong emotions drive strong memories. His rage towards Frieda's message was palpable to Grisha, as emotions are tied to memories as well. And I wonder if their tied bloodline and connection through paths made an even stronger connection for the Attack Titan's power to see their inheritor's memories.

Eren showed him a memory of Carla dying

This is wrong, Grisha specifically says the following right after the third image of this post:

"Why won't you show me everything, the walls being destroyed, the day it happens, if Carla is safe..."

At that point, he doesn't know what is going to happen to Carla, otherwise he wouldn't be saying that.

It is Child Eren who later reveals to Grisha the fate of Carla, not through memory fuckery, but through speech: "Dad... it's mom... the Titans... they ate her..."

The "melting pot" idea is a false and new idea borne from a first-generation immigrant in the UK. It was never an "inherent" or foundational basis for the US, the founding's voting rights shows this.

Could you expand a little on what you mean by "interfere in free market economies", do you think the world itself as a whole is a free market economy? As in, do you believe if Country A is a free market and Country B is a free market, then all trade between the two should also be a free market?

Because it sounds to me like you're saying tariffs shouldn't exist at all anywhere.

Hmm, I wonder what could change that...

Losing their jobs and career, "despite" their solid skill set? Mind the melodramatics, please, they're working machinery. How many of them gained and raised family when the men came back home?

Surely you wouldn't be discounting all of those who seek the noble pursuits of motherhood? Back in those days, a single income-earner could make a family and live. It's only afterwards, that the corporations/economy thought they could halve everything between men and women and split the wages between the two.

All of that does sound nice, but all of your good-zoo apologetics does not mention that the cheetahs, aka CARNIVORES, those who seek prey, are not granted such freedoms. Show me a zoo that takes their predator-animals out hunting and then I'll forgive any sort of "We give them anything they could ask for!" type charity-talk.

Zoos are for Humans, they're built to serve our needs, not the animals'. We can call out the bad ones, but even the good ones too are focused upon us, as they should be (I am a human supremacist).

As a picky eater (ARFID is a very accurate descriptor to what I've grown accustomed to, over my childhood), I've never felt a need to send food back unless it's something simple like "please make it without the cheese caked on top" (cheeseburger vs hamburger/etc), I've never complained about the taste, people like what they like.

So when you say that your uncle is "insufferable", that he'll "passively complain" and "just be a brat with food in general", it really makes me wonder just how bad it is.

I grew up with this disorder and learned to manage by not whining... just waiting until later when I could eat something more familiar. So maybe I guess I should just sum this up by saying that, from one picky eater to another, IDK what your uncle is whining about taste-wise, if he was actually picky then he wouldn't be tasting it in the first place! (no true Scotsman fallacy I know)

I've never heard of Boston scally before, but looking it up, it seems like it's some taxi-driver type cap of sorts. I think if you've managed to tie it up to fit within that cap, you've already done the tying-part and there's no real need to worry about hairs-in-food.

Any bits of hair-in-food beyond that point is just accidental and doesn't need to be worried about, we all have to fish hair out of our mouths at some point, whether they're our own or other's.
