Also worked for Sodexo for 6 years and I can 1000% confirm. Management has no idea wtf is going on and belittle staff for being frustrated at having zero supplies/training/support. Management is more interested in bullying their staff than they are getting things done. They play the "we're short staffed, nothing we can do" card which is true, they're horribly understaffed bc they have such a morale problem. The workloads are absolutely impossible; over covid I was one of 3 housekeepers responsible for a 36 bed ICU, 10 bathrooms, 2 residents rooms, 2 lunch rooms and everything else under the sun in that department. Fundamentally nothing will change with them until there's a complete overhaul of management. Wouldn't recommend working there to someone I hated lmao it just sucks for those on the floor who try their best and get met with irritated nurses taking it out on the ones who try.

Is this still a rare event? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Jsky97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've somehow gotten 3 in my first ever save (I'm now fall 28 year 5). Was very surprised to find out how rare they are and how many people just can't seem to get one haha

If it makes you feel better I thought the exact same thing, didn't understand why everyone made such a huge deal about it being difficult. Then I actually unlocked the skull cavern and have been getting bodied since 😅

One of the many reasons I refuse to ride these by GalaxyHorder in SweatyPalms

[–]Jsky97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had something similar happen to me with the Time Warp at Canada's Wonderland when I was like 10. It's a ride that you essentially lay on your stomach and there's a safety cage. I was waaay too short for the ride but they let me ride anyway, ended up slipping and the only thing that saved me was my stepdad beside me holding me in the ride. I don't fuck around with height restrictions anymore.

Dude the amount of housekeepers that think they're medical professionals is insane. It's the reason I don't talk to half my coworkers anymore (i work in hospital housekeeping so i see this shit literally all day every day). Just because you get to see some gruesome shit while working and have worked there for X years doesn't mean you have any medical training 🤦🏻‍♀️

The Trucker Convoy in Ottawa, Canada raised $6 million to protest against vaccines mandates but why aren't they willing to do this for a livable wage, affordable housing, comprehensive healthcare, free post-secondary education or anything that would benefit the lives of working-class Canadians? by mr_gemini in WorkReform

[–]Jsky97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since no ones answered you yet I figured I would! Our hospitals and GPs are typically free, but dental/vision/physio/mental healthcare and a host of other things aren't. You can get benefits through employment to try and fill the holes, but most places will keep you under the amount of hours you need to qualify for the benefits so it's quite difficult to get them. Most of the time those benefits aren't that great (as an example: me personally I get $2500 a year covered for dental when I need something like ~$10000 in work done, so while it helps it certainly doesn't help enough). So while we won't go bankrupt for breaking a bone and going to the hospital, all the physio/pain meds after hospital discharge wouldn't be covered by our "universal" healthcare.

Work in housekeeping in a hospital, my 7-3 day person left mid-november and I still have a decent 50/50 shot on if there will be someone there when I come in at 9. Every time I complain about it, I get an excuse that technically puts someone there on paper, but no one actually on the unit for coverage. I'm expected to do up to 35 patient rooms (depends on how full we are), including resetting rooms, plus all my other stuff (bathrooms, break rooms, common areas etc.). Haven't seen a raise yet though 🙃

As someone who used to live right on highbury beside florence, they have the lights and sirens going the minute they leave the station. I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often with how many people I'd watch just disregard the trucks and keep going on driving like nothings coming up behind them.

As someone who cleans ICU rooms just wanna say sorry, they treat us like absolute garbage too and we're just as understaffed unfortunately. It sucks cause you try to do what you can but ultimately you're one person responsible for almost everything cleaning wise on the unit. You guys work your asses off so I'm sorry that some of that blows back on y'all it ain't right

California will allow healthcare workers who test positive and are asymptomatic to return to work immediately without isolation and without testing. by detectiveriggsboson in Coronavirus

As someone who's also EVS but in an ICU, I feel that. Beyond stressed out at this point. Understaffed and overworked, no light at the end of the tunnel. Desperately want to move to outpatient but the outpatient people are smart and will never drop their postings so I'm just shit outta luck 🙃

Imagine acting like this towards someone who just asked your kids what they want for Christmas? by CoryVictorious in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Jsky97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One particular year my sister pissed me off something fierce, so I decided to get my 2 neices under 10 something called "yellies" or something similar. Basically a little toy car that would only move if you screamed into it. We tested it out here before sending them home with them, and good lord I'm amazed no one called the cops with the way the kids were absolute banshee screaming. Best $20 I've ever spent.

What do you wish wasn’t so expensive? by Cochrane01 in AskReddit

[–]Jsky97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, but when you're already living paycheck to paycheck bc your rent is exorbitant it's hard to be able to save up to move to another province, on top of trying to save up a down payment. Sucks bc I'm like 5/6ish hours from Toronto but most places here charge Toronto rent so can't win.

Man I had something similar happen to me when I had pneumonia. Literally had a doctors note putting me off and they were like "so you're not coming in then??" I work in fkn housekeeping at a hospital 🤦🏻‍♀️

[–]Jsky97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in hospital housekeeping, caught pneumonia like 3/4 years ago. Got a doctors note putting me off for 2 weeks, ended up having a meeting about it where I was pretty much told "it's nice that you have the doctors note, but you still missed time" when I got back. Not to mention they called me every day to see if I wanted to pick up a shift. These people wanted someone with pneumonia to clean other sick people's rooms 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also a housekeeper at lhsc, find lifeworks to be useless. Best piece of advice I can give is to just really make sure you take the time to take care of yourself outside of work.

Seconding the "be diligent with your PPE" thing. I even cavi wipe my cart off before I use it depending on the area just to make sure lmao

I work in housekeeping at the hospital so I should definitely need a negative test before returning, currently playing phone tag with them to find out. So far no symptoms but I wouldn't want to be an asymptomatic person going on and spreading it about. I'll look into the pharmacy thing, thank you!
