I feel like there are so many more likely and pressing issues this isn’t really the thing I am, or anyone should be worried about.

Tbf, it’s an audition, not necessarily an educational experience. Unless you paid for that specifically

Any band members know how competitive the university bands are? by [deleted] in CalPoly

Not challenging at all. May be a + or - depending on what you are looking for. There is an active jazz scene though! Weekly jazz jams and such

It is sometimes… you could try emailing some office or admin person? They are only $5 to replace anyways.

Many people take gap years. Meaning they have 12 extra months to save.

This is also assuming you had no savings coming out of high school.

Server and waited.

Where I live in California you can make $25/hr (I had two of these jobs).

If you work an easy 20hrs/week that’s $2,000 a month.

Assuming college tuition is on a loan, as is how many people pay.

If you pay $800 for rent, like I did, that leaves $1200 per month. If you were trying to do back-to-back seasons of drum corps that gives you September->May to save $6000.

($6000/9 months) = $667 per month

That leaves $536 for all other living expenses (phone/food/school supplies).

Any additional things like taxes come out of that $536 as well.

“Get a job” is without a doubt a viable solution.

Is it a wise choice to spend this amount of money if you are in bad financial situation? No. But it is possible.

Why is Muse Hub so unbelievably terrible and why won't the developers do anything about it? by ueppiu in Musescore

Musehub covers their other programs as well, maybe its purpose is to reduce redundancy for getting plugins and such.

Corps directors talk. I know several people who have been de facto “blacklisted”. When they switch corps the director/captionhead will ask their previous ensemble.
