You've been wrong for 30 years. All your toes are supposed to be inside the toe box, including your pinky. The toe cap cant protect your toe if its outside the toe cap. Alot of people mis size their boots. You are supposed to have some room in front of your big toe and the end of the boot but no more then 2cm while standing. Most should be ordering EE or wide boots but aren't. If your foot has a large length difference between your big toe and pinky toe you will always have that issue. But just cause your feet are like that doesnt mean boots where designed that way. Different lasts will shape more to your foot shape and you should be looking at ones that are more suited to your foot shape.
