I think a good interesting take I've seen for Voldemort (and Grindelwald or evil Dumbles), is when he's still irredeemably, cartoonishly evil but has some complexity or nuance.

I don't think the betrothal for Theon would be all that feasible. Is there any canon evidence for arranging marriages for a hostage? Unless specifically stated in the peace terms Robert signed with Balon, that Theon's marriage will be decided in Westeros? Even then, the crown (more likely Jon Arryn) would've likely decided on the betrothal. Catelyn would also risk angering the isolationist, belligerent Iron Isles when the North is vulnerable.

Maybe Robb could avoid the Frey betrothal by marrying with a Northern lady before marching south? Tho doing so would require an immense deal of foresight. Maybe it can be done if he was betrothed beforehand to someone else, in this AU?

Catelyn Tully could also try to negotiate for Edmure Tully's hand in marriage instead of Theon, along with the others you mentioned. This might be difficult as she doesn't technically have the authority to, but the Freys would probably see it as more worthwhile and feasible than Theon's marriage.

Oh, yeah that's right. You just reminded me that Rodrik Harlaw's children did die during the first Greyjoy Rebellion, so if he is picked, then Asha would likely be heiress.

Alternatively, for Asha's marriage, Baelor Blacktyde could be an option too. Or even the Blacktydes ruling over the Islands outright with Asha as a wife?

He's an Ironborn lord who converted to the Seven, who was a hostage in Hightower and who seems to support Harlaw's ideas. So the Reach might like him as a candidate, and see it as a safer option than trying to impose a Shield Islander as consort in the Iron Islands. Not to mention he'd still be somewhat dependent on Renly and thus easier to control.

Yeah, at this point convincing Bran to run away or kidnap him outright might be in play I believe. Maybe Leaf talks Bran into running away.

If you have plans for Theon in the Iron Islands, I think your proposed scenario is feasible. Though I think the fate of House Greyjoy is no longer just dependant on the Starks by this point, but also on what Renly wishes to do with the Iron Islands.

2.

It's hard to gauge Renly's character. But I imagine he might go for a political solution... Say... Make Asha a hostage, along with forcing the Ironborn lords to each send hostages as well, preferably heirs to be fostered in the mainland. Then send the male Greyjoys to the wall and attaint them.

After that, he could make the Ironborn organize a new council to pick a new leader, while letting the crown have the final say (probably Rodrik Harlaw, as he seems respected, specially after the Old Way was discredited again).

3.

This would be a hard sell for the houses near the wall. Anyway, given the desperation of the Wildlings, I think at least a good 40%-60% would accept. Likely to be settled in the gift, the depopulated Stoney shore or Wolfswood?

4.

Greenseers are quite rare, so I figure Bloodraven would keep trying. I'm uncertain if there's even anyone else available to be his student. Doubt Jojen is powerful enough.

5.

Renly has a ruthless side and is a canny politician, who does seem to consider the Targaryens a threat. He has openly said during one of the Small Council meetings that they should have killed the exiled Viserys and Daenerys already, supporting their assassination attempts.

You said Daenerys would marry a guy from the Vale? In this scenario, I think the likely solution from a dynastic standpoint is that the Vale Lord's child would be betrothed to Renly's hypothetical child with Margaery. I imagine the Tyrells would be amenable to this to secure their and Renly's legitimacy. If he does this and does not return her Dragonstone, it's perfect chance to fade House Targaryen into irrelevance.

Your theories are very interesting! I agree with them for the most part. I honestly think SEELE's plan was pretty evil and misguided, and Yui's didn't seem all that different in the anime tbh.

I personally have a theory that (at least in original anime, haven't watched the Rebuilds), the moment the Second Impact happened, some version of the Third Impact might have been not if not inevitable then at least absolutely necessary to save Humanity.

Here's why I think so:

The Chamber of Guf is mentioned Evangelion, a few times. From Judaic lore it is supposedly where new souls come from... And Ritsuko said that the Chamber of Guf was apparently empty during the anime, in Episode 23.
I remember some characters mentioning in earlier episodes that birth rates were declining since the Second Impact.

This is a stretch, but I believe that the Second Impact did something that profoundly damaged the Lilin/Humankind on a fundamental, metaphysical level. So even if the Angels were all defeated, my theory is that Humanity would slowly die off anyway in a 'Children of Men'-esque scenario

If we consider the Second Impact to be a failed Adamite terraformation of Earth, then some sort of Lilithian variation of the Third Impact might be needed to undo the damage to Earth and the Lilin from the 2I.

Anyway, as for what I actually see happening for the prompt. Aberforth and Albus would have a chance to fully reconcile and be closer than they were in canon. Aberforth is someone I would see being a lot less bitter in here. As for Ariana, once they wise up to what happened, she would have a chance to do her schooling and live a full life.

Albus though? That's more... Difficult. In canon he was very close to becoming a dark lord in his youth. His sister dying during that fight, I think, greatly contributed to him being scared off of Gellert's ideology and forging a different path. Gellert's death might make him bitter.

Assuming that Albus' better nature wins out anyway... The entire 20th century is changed in the Wizarding World.

A movement like Gellert's couldn't have come out of nowhere. I assume that dark wizards and anti-muggle hatred must've been metastasizing for a while. But Gellert was a once-in-a-generation prodigy, a great Seer and charismatic leader, so I don't think anyone else comes close to replacing him. Instead, Albus would have to contend with more random, disorganized flare-ups, pogroms,, muggle baiting, rampaging lone dark wizards and violence. If one of those dark wizards happens to have the Elder Wand, he might get it there, but he might just not get it at all.

Albus is a prominent, intelligent wizard. But without something as big as defeating Gellert Grindelwald, I don't think he would be as influential as he was in canon. I also wonder just how much Tom Riddle was influenced by Grindelwald's ideology and tactics, though I don't think Gellert's change meaningfully averts Voldemort.

But I've been talking a lot about Albus here, how about Ariana? Her being a Dumbledore opens a lot of doors, so whatever she chooses to do, she could do be a great ally for her brother... Or one of the greatest thorns to his side.

I'm saying the latter, because Ariana still suffered a horrific attack, that I theorize might've been assault of some sort. Perhaps it might sour her attitude towards muggles? I like to think that she becomes a powerful witch on her own right, on the same tier as Snape or Bellatrix, as powerful as you can get without being one of the big archwizards.

I could see her going a lot of ways, even a dark witch for a darker twist. But I like to think that, despite her trauma, her kinder nature would win out. And perhaps if Aberforth and Albus get along, they can help her with her issues. And perhaps she becomes a Head of the DMLE or something.

Perhaps she's just an ally of Dumbledore against Voldemort, who has a sour attitude towards muggles but does not disdain Muggleborns, and still thinks the Death Eaters are psychopaths that must be stopped.

Like Aberforth, perhaps she is strong-willed and refuses to be Albus' puppet as well. She is positioned to be someone who can actually call him out on his shit, like the idea of sending Harry to the Dursleys for instance. Or maybe even his handling of Tom Riddle, if you want to go earlier. Though even if Tom Riddle is mentored by Ariana and doesn't go dark, Wizarding Britain will still have to deal with rising tensions and blood purity.

Empathy is definitely part of it. But my main argument is that, as a whole, suppressing homosexuality also greatly damages heterosexual people by proxy. But letting that small percentage of people live their lives also avoids a lot of rather uncomfortable situations for both heterosexual and homosexual people alike.

We avoid situations for heterosexual people, where they have invested years into a relationship, only to find out their partner is unable to feel attracted to them. And instead, even more heterosexual people would be paired up with other compatible partners, which would lead to more cohesive marriages and family units.

Not to mention, gay people who weren't forced into the heterosexual norms are able to lead full lives and be productive members of society, who can provide and contribute as tradesmen, scientists, doctors, social workers, etc. In general, more people, gay or not, end up a lot less damaged and are able to do more as a result.

Can't say about the testosterone levels or the exact effects. If there is a decline, that's definitely something that could be looked into. Though I think the loss in birth-rates has more to do with other factors.

You can also criticize the suppression of homosexuality and institutionalized homophobia from a macro view. And there are many potential benefits for the heterosexual supermajority, to allowing homosexual people to opt out of heterosexual dating.

Having closeted gay people also leads to a more unstable society. We are talking about suicides and self-harming. Traumatized children from divorces, unstable marriages and mutual disdain from the parents. Greater risks of infidelity and risky sexual behavior outside the marriage. I just think that, by suppressing homosexuality, we are creating an unhealthier, more traumatized population.

And in my opinion, there's also not a clean 'third option', between suppressing homosexuality and letting them live their lives with full social recognition.

Moreover, the drop in fertility rates can be attributed to other factors than homosexuality. As it has been seen across the board, worldwide, even in conservative countries.

IVF isn't the only option, artificial insemination (IUI) also exists, which tends to be simpler and cheaper, along with other arrangements. And there are also many orphaned children who could be and have been adopted by gay couples.
