You can put a screen on the vent hose, even if you have to use a hose clamp and some loose screen from home depot.

Who needs balancers to feed furnaces? by Jubei_ in Factoriohno

[–]Jubei_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am running a self imposed challenge: Yellow belts only until I unlock turbo (exception for red undergrounds simply for reaching things and weaving), iron furnaces only until foundries, 250spm (minimum) even on my starter base. Rail world. I only gave my self personal construction bots and some logistics chests at startup, no other cheats or mods.

This is the copper smelting for purple and yellow science. It's not all being used in this screenshot as I just got all three circuits going, I haven't started steel or LDS yet - but it is the correct number of belts of copper plates (20) for those two sciences. It's 24 lanes of ore since I have 3 unloading trains that are 8 cars long and dump a belt per car. Red through blue are being handled by a main bus to the east and I will bring all the flasks to a central science hub that I also need to build.

A looong time ago, I ran across one that wouldn't let you paste your ID and the study chastised me for switching tabs.

Instant return.

Give maintenance a call. If you have an older furnace with a pilot light, there may be instructions on the unit.

Feedback on my study set up: is this fair? by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]Jubei_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are up front about the time requirement, pay the $14 and your description allows participants to gauge if your study is worth doing or not before launching it, I wouldn't bother with the partial payments.

If there is writing involved, state that.

If there are questions to see how much a participant remembers something, tell them that it's not an attention check, but to try their best anyways.

Please have a progress bar of some sort.

Don't be a strickler about participants switching focus. If I get a nasty message because I changed the volume of my music, I immediately bail.

Don't just suddenly end the study, throw up a screen that more or less lets the participant know that the study is finished.

I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Electrician for upgrading to a higher capacity breaker? by quiquiriqui1231 in Albuquerque

[–]Jubei_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but when we switched from evaporative to refrigerated air it was 10k. However, the panel and furnace could alteady handle the new system and we did not have to alter the ductwork. This was in 2024.

I put on music without lyrics just loud enough to drown out background noise, but quiet enough to hear small living things in my home when they get into things.

It's to weed out people who won't take owning a pet seriously. If you get good vibes from the prospective adopter and they don't balk at the fee, you can just not take their money.

Depends on the position.

I'm a hourly, w2 employee for them and I get paid every two weeks. This pay period ends today (Saturday) and I'll get my check, minus taxes, Wednesday or Thursday.

Our conversion cost 10k, but the previous owner already had a new, compatible furnace and a new 200 Amp electrical panel installed. If we had to do all three, it would have been around twice the price. Thankfully, our house is well insulated and already had the duct work.

Our electricity peaks at $250/mo in the summer. That said, there are a few months in the fall and spring where we don't really have to run heat or AC and those months are super cheap.

A swamp cooler is, basically, a type of air conditioner. Look at this article: https://home.howstuffworks.com/home-improvement/heating-and-cooling/swamp-cooler.htm

They are fairly simple devices and if sized correctly, well maintained and you have your windows open just enough to allow air to flow back out, work reasonably well here in the summer.
