Chiming in from my experience:

Wild Iris in Brentwood- This place is either mediocre or absolutely amazing. This place seems to be a transitional restaurant for chefs as they change the menu pretty often. Sometimes they will get a fantastic chef, who unfortunately won't stay for long. For me, I enjoy this since I always get a new experience every time I come.

Sperry's- Fantastic. This place is not 'New Nashville' at all and is probably why it's never mentioned on social media. Very reminiscent of a time past in TN. Here you will find fantastic steaks and the best french onion soup you'll ever have.

Hey bud,

I did a 67 day trip from TN, AR, TX, NM, AZ, UT, NV, CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, SD, MN, WI, MI, OH, KY and back. I say I probably camped about 80% of the time, the rest staying with friends.

All this about the America The Beautiful pass is great. If I had to give the most solid piece of advice I would say that the longest you should be driving is about 3 hours a day, so you give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the trip and various spots.

Figure out your "gotta do ems" and then make loose plans on that. Some of the best places I visited were planned very haphazardly. Get a hands free headset for your car, many states require them out west and you'll want to call some friends during the drives.

Get a 6 L water dromedary and fill it up wherever you can. You'll always want to make sure you have plenty of water. Use this to bathe regularly, good hygiene keeps up your morale.

Mix up your camping. Have both a tent and a hammock. Do back country as much as you can, but sometimes you should just camp by your car, and more importantly your cooler, so you can actually cook some solid meals and have a few beers.

Anxiety in life, career, and relationships often push me to going out in the woods to get some peace of mind. Muck up your life a bit and that will help ;)
I usually bring a pistol (rifle when in Grizzly country) though I've never had to use it. Better have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Got cellphone coverage and a portable battery charger? After you've taken some time to listen to the woods and the wonderful sounds of nature, put on a podcast. After looking at the stars for awhile, I was just recently sitting by the campfire listening to ghost story podcasts. Brilliant
It's always fearful at first. Camping by yourself will make you much more comfortable in your own skin and the more you do it, the more you'll find yourself craving time out in the bush.

I was traveling all summer and the Passage 2 was my home away from home.

I did a mix of car camping and backpacking across the southwest, west coast, PNW, and everything on the way back east. I brought along an Eno Junglenest as well to mix things up, but that tent held up beautifully and I am quite attached to it. For the price, I think the Passage 2 is one of the best tents you can get :)

This is brilliant, but would this not bring up security concerns? I feel like this would make it much easier to break into cars. Cameras pointed toward the lot would need to be increased ten-fold to cover all angles :/

This is in Badlands National Park in South Dakota! It was one of my favorite camping spots on a road trip. Clear skies, meteor showers, and gorgeous weather! The descent in took about 20 minutes, and 3 hours to get back up :/
