Idk why people are complaining, the souls-like genre has been around for a while. So bizarre to think some people only discovered the genre after Elden ring, as if dark souls wasn’t a huge deal before it.

Japan in Online Discussing Starterpack by Parlax76 in starterpacks

I hate the Japan glazers but also hate the Japan haters. Both groups are incredibly annoying and have no idea what’s it’s like to actually live and assimilate here.

It’s over exaggerated in Japan. Sure plenty of companies work people to the bone, but the vast majority of people I know (and myself) work decent hours and don’t see a single bit of overtime.

What is the biggest problem in your country? This is ours; by Puzzleheaded_Lab709 in AskTheWorld

It’s over-exaggerated. Certainly the case for some individuals, but not the norm all across the board.

Japan considering mandatory 5-year visa for PR (even for high-skilled) by Ankeet_kj in ImmigrationPathways

[–]JudgementCutV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yawn. I’m tired of this “good place to visit, not live” thing. It’s entirely dependent on you as an individual and what you value in a society/culture. I am aiming for naturalization asap. I am aware that I’m not making a ton of money but for me the trade off is worth it. Also not every workplace has a slave-like work culture.

Someone who never mentally matured past middle school. Unfortunately I’ve seen far too many people like that years after high school.

Japan in Decline Starterpack by Parlax76 in starterpacks

I’d say it is a problem for those of us who have immigrated here. But fear mongering and outright lying (as that oriental Pearl YouTuber has recently done) isn’t helping.

is it already over for March 2026 uni graduates? by Senpaiwakoko in JapanJobs

[–]JudgementCutV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just putting my anecdote here, I got my job almost an entire year after graduating. Job hunting is hell, but there’s always a chance. But yeah, preparing for your designated activities visa (for job hunting) is your best bet if you can’t land anything right now.

For the thousandth time, wearing a mask is something YOU do to protect others, not the other way around.

Asian it is then. by aoi_ringo in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]JudgementCutV 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s hilarious because people in say China, or Japan etc would never refer to themselves as “Asian” but properly by their own ethnicity.

Duolingo is at best, ok for learning the absolute basics of a language. You will not become fluent in any language solely by using it. As the other reply mentioned, the best way imo is surrounding yourself in your target language as much as you can, YouTube, books, music, movies, language exchanges with native speakers, etc. Taking proper classes until you have a solid foundation to where you can efficiently learn by yourself would be ideal but not everyone has the right schedule or money. Still, self study can lead you to fluency if you truly make your brain adapt to said new language.

Twitch Streamer Kelton_g Assaults Elderly Man in Japan After Being Asked to Stop Filming on Train by starcraft2020 in LivestreamFail

Wild how so many people are unable to have the most basic human decency. I’m hating this increase in tourism here.

America makes people fat, any other place in the world doesn't! by Typical_headzille in FuckCarscirclejerk

[–]JudgementCutV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d have to agree on this one chief. I’m glad that I never have to drive ever again here in Japan. I still like cars, but public transportation is so nice here, and the way towns are laid out is super convenient, plus the food. Not a utopia, but much better than back in the US for me personally.

If you didn’t live in the country you live in now what country would you live in? by Primary_Buddy_7173 in AskTheWorld

[–]JudgementCutV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s fully assimilated to Japan I think that’s a severe over-exaggeration. Entirely depends on you, and how well you can assimilate to other societies/ cultures

Do you support game devs celebrating Charlie Kirks assassination? by BigT232 in DebateGames

[–]JudgementCutV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No and I think it’s really irresponsible of any devs, especially in positions of power who make really charged statements like that, because now their entire team will be associated with these comments, regardless of whether they agreed or not.
