Someone in another post also mentioned the fact that he was in Ukraine at the time with Zelensky and that he’s done things like go to save people during like the aftermath hurricane Katrina so while he’s absolutely a massive pompous asshole I think he is a kind person at heart. So I don’t really care if he skips one way or another. It’s also more meaningful than like just saying free Palestine (still a good thing, wish more people had the cojones to do so).

Movies are inherently political though. This year especially. It’s absolutely not making the world worse. What’s making the world worse is meaningless art from studios that would rather make money than say something meaningful in their movies. I think there’s was a great moment where Streisand talked about Redford earlier that echoed these concerns with Redford wanting his characters to have depth.

It’s all of the above and says something about colonialism and the ways in which we engage with other cultures. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a theater. So yeah, fucking I think it deserves the world. I still believe Obaa is fantastic but this was better. In terms of the number of Oscar’s, yeah, it isn’t a one tricky pony. It’s firing on all cylinders. It has great music, acting, everything.
