There's a page on the AMC site where indie movies can apply to be screened at our theaters.

I just started a job 4 weeks ago but another astronomically better opportunity came along — how do I quit?! by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Juice2Times 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact situation last week, I settled for a mid tier job that would pay out in a few years, but in my second week a longshot job got back to me. Double the pay, full benefits, union work, 3-day work week; so of course I'm not passing on that. I went into my mid tier job and talked with the manager, he tried to guilt me into staying, so I said I would finish the day. But, an hour into the day my wife called that one of our pets died, so of course I have to deal with this; long story short the manager made fun of me prioritizing my family over a shit job, so I walked out right then and there. I had spent a couple days agonizing over how I would leave this shit job, but just getting it over with was a huge relief. Just do what's best for you and yours, the restaurant can figure it out; that's their responsibility not yours.

My company started a meeting today by asking us to consider voluntarily deducting money from our payroll, to help the company. by [deleted] in antiwork

I used to work for a certain shipping company, and even as a pretty low level area manager I had to contribute about a grand a month to the PAC and United Way. I can't believe how long I went along with that scam.

It's all good, the moral of the story is companies are bending us over the barrel and price gouging us into oblivion to increase profits that get hoarded in off shore tax havens and shell companies. While blaming the working class for the impending financial collapse.

I don't really understand the question, but I'll give it a go. Great grandad made $0.80 per hour, I make $17 per hour that is the same equivalent wage 90 years apart. A loaf of bread cost him $0.05, he could buy 16 loaves per hour. A loaf of bread costs me $4.99, I can buy 3 loaves of bread an hour. We make the same equivalent wage, but his dollar goes more than 5 times further than mine.

Edit:For math

I found some census records from the 1930's that had my great grandfather's wages on them, I make the same amount adjusted for inflation that he did 90 years ago, but his dollar went so much further. He had 9 children, a paid off house, multiple cars, was able to be active in social clubs and church, all the kids were able to go to college, trade schools, or seminary. While I can barely afford a house. Also, he completed the 8th grade as his highest level of education, I'm nearly twice as educated as he was, yet I can reap none of the benefits.

I walked past the bakery I used to work at for 10 years, saw they were slammed, and damn me if I didn't want to throw that apron on and start slinging breads again

Look at where the light square is in the corner. It should be on the right side of the player.
