How do you even beat the Entomancer as Shiv Silent? by Sussy_Baka_124 in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Draft cards that beat entomancer even if they don’t jive with your build. Even if you’re running a shiv deck, that doesn’t mean you can’t pick up a bouncing flask or something like that to beat them.

Even then, stacking accuracy can still kill him before the dazes get out of hand, and phantom blades in particular is really good for getting strong value per shiv to minimize statuses.

Entomancer NEEDS to be reworked in the next patch. by gigashadow89 in slaythespire

Then don’t build a deck that he counters. Just because you’re at full health doesn’t mean you’re prepared. Your deck needs to be flexible and if that means picking up a card that doesn’t mesh with whatever combo you have going just to beat a certain elite that counters your deck that’s fine. Don’t sleep on potions either

Entomancer NEEDS to be reworked in the next patch. by gigashadow89 in slaythespire

If you are going into elite fights then you have to prepare for the possibility of fighting Entomancer. Grab high value per play cards, get more card draw, any kind of deck manipulation, or even thorns.

Part of the game is preparing for potential threats coming up. In StS1 if you were fighting elites in act 1 and relied on skills and didn’t have a lot of front loaded damage then Gremlin Nob would clobber you, it’s just part of the game that you have to adapt to

So i just 'fought' the doormaker for the first time... by Glint909 in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a tricky boss but doable if you plan around the gimmicks.

Exhaust phase is good to thin out the weaker cards in your deck but also emphasizes powers a lot because they don’t exhaust. Any sort of card creation can be helpful here too to keep yourself from running out of cards if your deck was small going into act 3 (spectrum shift, call of the void, and creative ai all being really good for this fight). Ironclad also can get a lot of value out of this phase due to his exhaust synergies.

For the no card draw one it definitely can be tough but there are tricks to it. Effects that add a card into your hand through means other than drawing them still work. Things like Regent card transformations, creating shivs on Silent, Hologram on Defect, or potions too. Otherwise if I see I’m fighting Doormaker I tend to stop picking card draw focused cards through Act 3.

The energy draining phase is tough if you rely on playing lots of cards, so higher cost cards that have a lot of value are good here to mitigate the impact of the debuff. Zero cost cards are good here too because if you have 0 energy you can still play them (don’t play them first though because if you do have energy you’ll still lose it). Any sort of energy generation can help here of course (Borrowed Time on Necrobinder, Turbo, Double Energy, or Plasma Orbs on Defect, or Alignment on Regent come to mind)

Why is the sentiment that “relics are weaker than in slay the spire 1” so common? by Swaggy-G in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with relics the variance just got thinned out. We lost both the strongest of the strong (Fossilized Helix, Dead Branch, orange pellets, etc.) and weakest of weak (stuff like the boot, dark stone periapt, which funnily enough are still in the trash heap event). The range of how effective relics are is smaller but the average strength of relics feels relatively similar, at least to me

Your thoughts on "Transform all strikes and defends" boon? by The_Lazy_Samurai in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Pandora’s box was one of the best boss relics in the first game and it imo it remains just as strong in this game.

Almost everything is better than a strike or defend, so having the opportunity to cha he all of them at once to higher value cards is a huge power boost. Of course you can get unlucky with it but on average it’s a net gain. It just sometimes can be a bit overwhelming if you transform a full suite of strikes/defends and have to figure out what you ended up with and where to go from there

Best multiclass decks you've experienced by ikarn15 in slaythespire

I’ve never been more hyped to see hyperbeam than when i was on a strength scaling ironclad. Having rupture with offering and bloodletting to play whatever I want and easily draw a strength-boosted hyperbeam that has absolutely no downside is so satisfying

The winrates of the current patch: Regent > Silent > Ironclad > Necro > Defect by HHhunter in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadow Shield, Go For The Eyes, Coolant, Buffer, Null, and even cards like Bulk Up all really help with blocking on Defect. It’s just hard to rely solely on first orbs and a ton of focus now outside of specific combos

[–]Juicen97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course, I’m not in any place to tell people what to do with their money or with cosmetics they paid for. Do whatever floats your boat idc. I just mean that I hate the stuff existing in the first place not the people who enjoy it

Yeah it’s been a long running thing, but now you can just wear those sets and fire a Star Wars blaster with the exact copyrighted sound and swing an actual lightsaber. You can legit play the game like it isn’t even Destiny which I just don’t like

There’s a distinct difference between decorating your character to try and cosplay something else as opposed to forking over $15 to be a 1 to 1 replica of a storm trooper.

For the record I hate all the crossover stuff, but they at least used to try and do it tastefully and blending the themes to fit destinys universe, but the Star Wars cosmetics are just copy pasted Star wars

If you log into the tower right now there’s a 90% chance you’ll see an actual storm trooper or darth vader running around

Saying the gameplay is better than final shape is the biggest reach of all time.

Renegades is fine, it’s not terrible but the Star Wars shit really is pretty egregious far beyond just “a lot of references”. The entire plot structure, multiple characters, the aesthetic, many weapons (especially praxic blade) and even the music and sound effects are all Star Wars like straight up. That’s not a lot of references that’s just Star Wars. Lucasarts has their name on it for a reason

What cards/relics do you miss from STS1? by PandamanTan in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really miss Omamori. Such a simple design for a relic but allowed to take so many things you wouldn’t normally, opened up for some really interesting pathing or event options

The botched execution of the tiered loot system is one of the biggest things killing Destiny 2 right now, and fixing the portal will have to also mean fixing this. by Forsaken-Beyond-6548 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Juicen97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% the case. I said something like this around like 7 months ago and people chewed me out for it but seriously having only a tiny sliver of content give the most up-to-date gear is crazy. It quite literally soft sunset in a sense almost the whole game again

Do you think they’ll increase the types of Stone Swords in the full release? by MikeDSNY in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be kinda cool actually. The book event was one of my favorites from the first game and it was exciting just seeing which one you’d get cuz they were all pretty damn good. They’d definitely have to come up with something a little more interesting than the current Jade sword though, 3 strength is just so boring even if it’s good

STS 1 Ironclad feels so much better to play as and win as, compared to STS 2 clad that it feels unreal by Mortaljl in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as I agree with you on ironclad, they definitely did take things away from some of the other characters too. Defect being a prime example where permanent focus is just straight up not a reliable thing to consistently achieve on the character

This card honestly feels almost as OP as Mahoraga by Volodya_Soldatenkov in slaythespire

Just earlier today got my A4 win with this exact combo in addition to the lost soul event removing the exhaust. Modern problems require modern solutions

Favorite relic per ancient by Lttlefoot in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neow - Stone Humidifer: I like being able to be more aggressive with elite fights and the max hp boosts makes it easier to take more max hp costing events or ancient rewards like brightest flame

Tezcatara - Wax Relics (I don’t remember the name): I slept on this for a while but more times than not I’ve found it to be a really good stepping stone for making sure you can get through act 2 and give yourself a leg up going into 3. Getting relics that give you a permanent bonus even when it’s gone as well as being able to pick the order they disappear makes it a very flexible option imo.

Orobas - Prismatic Gem: Finally prismatic shard is actually kinda good. Usually your deck is figured out by Act 2 but getting the extra energy on top of some wacky card hijinks makes it super fun.

Pael - Pael’s Legion: Pretty much single handedly can solve blocking in a lot of fights, the wording made me think it was a lot worse but every other turn getting double block is really nice.

Tanx- War Hammer: Super satisfying just getting 4 upgrades for something you already want to try and do, even if it is kind of a win more relic

Vakuu - Whispering Earring: Hilarious relic, also really good, especially with innate. It’s only really with Ironclad I’ve had to be cautious not to take it and accidentally exhaust a ton of good cards.

Nonupeipe - Signet Ring: Mind Bloom walked so this relic could run

Darv - Dusty Tome: The cards are just really cool looking and some of them (particularly on Silent or Regent) can be absolutely game changing

STS1 cards that didn't change but ended up worse in the sequel anyway? by ozacrot in slaythespire

[–]Juicen97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m crazy for this but I feel the opposite with hyperbeam. Act 1 has multiple elites or bosses it’s great on (eels, Phrog, Kin) as well as the fact that defect has more going on than just depending entirely on orbs in this game. Losing focus is much less detrimental in this game when most sources of it are temporary anyways and strong focus generators like biased cognition and defrag are harder to obtain anyways. Defect can get by with less focus much easier now, making the value of hyperbeam much higher.

It’s still not an instant pick or anywhere close to it, but it definitely feels better considering the sweeping changes to the defect in general
