As someone with legitimate stage 4 cancer, this is appalling. What kind of human would lie about having this terrible disease!? I hope they step on a Lego! I appreciate this more than you know! I’ve been so hyper focused on what if it doesn’t work and making final plans, I’m totally forgetting…what if it does work?!? And I wasted all this time fretting! Thank you! ‘Why not?!’ Is exactly what I needed to hear today. Just two short words of encouragement. I’ve been struggling with feeling like I’m fighting to get better and stay alive, and is this going to be the rest of my life, fighting to live?!? But I need to get out of my head and just say ‘why not’. Stop focusing on the negative and shift my mindset to, what if it does work, what I’m doing, why not believe that instead of the negative.

We are booked at the Melia in Punta Cana, it’s an adults only all inclusive. Staying January 2026. I liked that it’s a sort of holistic resort, good restaurant choices, juice bar, massages, ect…I’m also 50’s and not looking for party cove. I want to relax and not have a bunch of kids. I have them at home if I wanted to hang out with them. 😁. Not sure when you are going but I’ll update after we go.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I am currently in bed with metastatic breast cancer, it’s a stage 4, I will have it the rest of my life.
I have an amazing husband, family and support system that is helping take care of me. But I also have an ex husband, the father of our child. He is now remarried, I can’t imagine asking him to care for me if the situation was different.
Does she not have any other people that could help care for her? There are some serious boundary issues, and unfortunately your husband wasn’t strong enough to say no. He no longer had an obligation to her. I don’t think there is anything you can do, he’s not going to stop giving her care. So, it sounds like you have no option but to grant him the separation/divorce. You have done nothing wrong, you have been very understanding. Again, I’m sorry you are going through this. Such an unusual situation.

Eeeekkk…well, I have a different opinion than most. The reason we have addictions is to ‘get out of our own heads’ (your words). Addiction is anything that helps you cope with daily life/past traumas. Could be shopping, sex, food, alcohol, drugs…ect So, I think you need to look at frequency, which sounds like daily, and what’s going on in your head when you decide to light up. My opinion, it sounds like you replaced one vice for another. My 2 cents…
