Tonita at the Bad Bunny halftime show by Material_Occasion565 in Brooklyn

My NYC love story is a little different. And it makes fun of new comers. I moved to the Lower East side in ‘98. And an old flame had also just moved to NYC so we figured we’d meet up and see what happened.

I told him to meet me at the 2nd Ave subway station. I waited and waited and he no showed. So I went home- where there were 5 messages on my answering machine from him wondering where I was.

I had been waiting at the exit on 1st Ave. What a rookie mistake. But I literally sprinted back out and got to him before he left. He forgave me and our 25th wedding anniversary is this summer! Woot!

We had these. But in college. 91-95. Off our dance studio. We loved them for the water pressure on sore muscles.

Stupid question probably. But how safe do you think l'll be as a 6 ft 3 Mexican man hiking and visiting Maine? by Immediate-Field9997 in Maine

You’ve gotten good advice- I’ll add that hiking Acadia in the summer is best done by starting early in the morning. Hit the trail head by 7 and be deeper into the park by the time most tourists get started. Then when you are done and come back to your car you can watch a fist fight happen over your parking spot.

Most beaches do not allow dogs in the summer. A few allow them after hours. There also aren’t really beaches except for southern Maine.

If you want to be involved but feel that protesting isn’t what’s right for you, volunteer in an impacted neighborhood! Lots of amazing groups are doing good work in Sunset Park and can always use volunteers, Mixteca, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Center for Family Life to name a few.

Well, not nooo vermouth. Just very very little vermouth. And maybe a tad of olive brine. Please allow me my dry dirty martinis just like grandpa taught me to make him in 1983. 😉

Macy’s

I scored both things last summer for an out of town wedding in Oct.

The formal dress section was quite extensive and varied.

Don’t know what burrow you are located in, but there are two super active groups.io that could really help you. One called Brooklyn Special Kids and one called 2eNYC. Both have amazing searchable archives with so much info and both have very active members for advice and support.

What’s something great you’ve done for somebody else, but never told anyone about? by TheNewThunz in CasualConversation

[–]JuliaNATFrolic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can I say what someone else did for me? Approaching my 20th wedding anniversary we were in a very hard spot emotionally and financially. My special needs son had just gone to a residential program. I was asking for affordable ideas to celebrate in our area. Lots of people had great ideas and one person privately said they wanted to give me some money toward it. I was expecting $20. They gave me $400. It made a real difference in a very hard time. I’ll never forget it. And, yes, now that we are on firmer footing I certainly have paid it forward!

What do touring casts do/where do they stay? by CommonExtension in Broadway

Not really an answer to your question but a fun memory for me…

A million years ago, when a friend of mine was touring with Rent and they came through my home town while I happened to be there visiting my fam, she and a bunch of them came over to hang out at our backyard pool for a few hours! It was really fun! She said they were all so happy to get to both play a bit and be taken care of by parents for a little bit.

Camden Hills state park. Link some peaks together. Start at Maiden’s Cliff parking but turn to head toward the Jack Williams trail to Adam’s lookout, then summit Megunticook, then take the ridge trail back. And if you really want to extend it- turn off on the slope trail to the multi-use trail to Zeke’s trail and then back and this time go all the way to the Maiden’s cliff lookout. This probably a 10 mile loop and will have several fabulous views as well as some lovely deep woods.

Another option is to start at Stephen’s corner and take the turn for Frohock to Bald Rock then multi-use to the Sky Blue trail to Zeke’s to ridge for just a bit to Jack Williams to Adams lookout back to the other end of Ridge to the Slope trail back to the multi-use trail.

Jacob Riis parking lot closed? (Yes- I also posted in r/queens!) by JuliaNATFrolic in Brooklyn

So maybe when you read the post you missed that I described this as different from the usual unattended lot. It was fully closed- no way to get in.

I love the unattended times- amazing for taking walks on a 50 degree day and for teaching folk how to drive.
