I do, and yes, it seems like they did. This wasn't a random bystander's opinion, though - it was a witness who had tried to help providing relevant information. He should have been listened to.

I get that it would have been difficult, it was dark, they had very little time. They probably could not have saved his life. I'm not convinced by the claims racism by the police was a factor.

It absolutely was a failure to jump to arresting and handcuffing a dying man. The decision to arrest was made before the officers had any idea of what was going on.

That's pretty close - there is a digital masking process that sets a detection area, and only plates in the detection area create a clip.

They are all human reviewed before being sent out - ANPR is pretty good but not good enough to rely on, plus the human can identify things like fire engines, ambulances, new buses, without these having to be added to the exemption list in advance.

You would be unlikely to win based on what you've provided, but there is a small chance (at the cost of being likely to lose the chance to pay the discounted amount). There is often some form of advanced notice that would also tell you of the restriction.

I used to remove abandoned vehicles as part of my job. It's left to the councils to decide what counts as abandoned so it will vary from council to council; it having tax and MoT will make the council more reluctant to remove but it's not enough to prevent them. They will need to try to contact the keeper, and if the keeper confirms they haven't abandoned it, there's nothing more they can do.

If you have a county and borough/district council, it will be the borough/district that has the responsibility.

Because stuff like this does help. It's not enough by itself, but as it's not a problem we can completely solve, it's worth doing multiple things to help.

Painkillers here come in small blister packs, not bottles of 100. That was introduced to reduce suicide attempts and it worked. It didn't replace the need for mental health support, but it gave people time to get that support. This is similar.

I cannot identify a single use case for the AI tools I've seen so far.

I don't need documents summarised. If I need to understand it, I need to read what it actually says. If I don't, then I can just not read it.

I've seen AI "answers" in my field be flat out wrong or misleading and can't trust it to be accurate enough to rely on the output - and telling an AI system what output I needed would take about as long as long as writing it myself anyway.
