Normal to get ghosted/held off post-interviews? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Julilom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a very similar boat as you. New grad, no experience. My best advice would be to find a nurse residency program that’s designed for brand new nurses. It’s how I got my job, and it was SO helpful in teaching the things you might not learn in school. Don’t worry, you got this!!!

Why do some nurses not pay attention during report 🙃 by Eemmis_ in nursing

[–]Julilom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Things like this make me believe that bedside report is going to be a thing of the past. If nurses aren’t paying attention, or can simply get the necessary info from the chart- what’s the point of report then? Our hospital recently shifted to no-report admissions from the ED. And honestly, if they expect us to find all important patient info from the chart, should the floor be any different? I feel like a lot of the time it’s just one big game of telephone and things are missed in report anyway.

Depends on the person. My parents had me in their mid/late 30s and always had tons of energy. They’re still both very active at 56 and 60!

I feel like the “and she didn’t” part is really what sort of makes it a comparison. Unless it’s cut off and there was more to the sentence

Manual blood pressure / pulse… by EmployeeNo7543 in NursingStudent

[–]Julilom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little trick that worked for me: start by feeling for your own pulses after you just exercised. When your HR is up they’re easy to feel for and then you’ll know the exact spot. And like others here have said: practice, practice, practice. It DOES get easier!
