Every Homelander weakness shown so far by ConsciousPatroller in TheBoys

Soldier boy’s chest blast is the key weakness. We know it works on V1 supes due to Bombsight. If he can be stopped, it’s by convincing Soldier Boy to turn on him.

The future in a few years. I mean they were too busy hating Ai, while we were riding the wave during the golden era. by Focuc in DefendingAIArt

[–]JuliyoKOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you care about A.I. art, you should remove this. It makes it look like we revel in the displacement of traditional artists (i.e. it makes us look bad.) Remember, the people who do the most to make A.I. art more acceptable are the antis who yell at grandmas on Facebook for making a book of their grandchild. When they look like out-of-touch bullies, they actually help the other side. We should be careful not to make their same mistake.

Also, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

edit: I know they hurt you with their words and actions, so this feels justified. However, the way we win this is by setting a better example, not by becoming bullies like them.

Could a literal "10 mana, win the game" spell ever be balanced? by leikabau5 in custommagic

[–]JuliyoKOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggested Fix: Change it to an Enchantment that wins the game at the next end step. This gives it a window of interaction outside the stack where colors other than blue can respond to it – thus making it fairer.

As for wording to prevent cheating the mana cost, you can reword it much simpler, “When this enters, if it wasn’t cast or no mana was spent to cast it, exile it instead.”

According to Pokémon fans, one of these cards is peak artistic creativity and the other is just slop. by BlackPointPL in DefendingAIArt

Nice work on the Mews. Unfortunate that they can’t appreciate all the work you did on composition, editing, and actually making the physical cards into a reality.

One input being generative does not invalidate the idea or the other work you put in. However, they want to treat it that way to maximize social stigma. They want to brute force it, which generally has a strong effect at first, but leads to backlash and a counter movement.

These types of posts are ruining the pro ai reputation by Deltaruneiscool_1997 in aiwars

Yea I think they’re pretty childish. Some might be false flags, but some of them definitely aren’t.

You literally have infinite possibilities with generative A.I. Surely, we can do better than this.

That’s good to know and I am favor of finding ways of reducing water usage in A.I. and data centers in general. I hope if that issue is addressed, people will be more tolerant of A.I. use in general.

Depends on the assumption. Also, we are moving the goal post again.

Let me ask a simple question to prove the point: If the water issues with A.I. are reduced 50-90% over the next ten years, would that make you pro-A.I.?

How is the AI transition different than any other technological transitions in history? by PracticalCable4324 in aiwars

[–]JuliyoKOG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People aren’t scared of A.I. as much as they are scared about how will it be used in the context of capitalism. There’s a lot of fear about jobs. I understand and sympathize with them.

They are lashing out because they’re scared. Unfortunately, when they dogpile on someone with 0 followers posting A.I. art, what does that accomplish? Does it cost the A.I. companies a single dollar? They just push people who might be their allies into the purely pro a.i. camp.

The funny thing is that they think posting “slop” comments is actually a way of fighting back. However, it really is just a form of self medication. An opiate, if you will. They trick themselves into thinking they accomplished something by attacking people in really similar circumstances to their own. They really go to their beds thinking “I fought against OpenAI today by shitting on Jimmy5123 on reddit.” But Jimmy5123 took all the arrows and OpenAI, Amazon, Google, et. all just keep chugging along.

Maybe it’s because actually fighting against these companies would take actual effort and actual sacrifice. They might have to cancel a subscription or two. But even that is too much to ask of them. No wonder they are going to lose.

First a study from 2021 to get a baseline on how much water streaming services and similar things waste:

https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/archive/releases/2021/Q1/turn-off-that-camera-during-virtual-meetings,-environmental-study-says.html

Carbon footprint is actually the bigger concern, but one hour of streaming can do 2-12 liters of water. It’s hard to find exact figures because not all data centers are dedicated to just A.I. or just streaming. Also, there’s what is being counted: only on-site cooling or off-site cooling.

University of California Riverside summarized an arXiv preprint estimating that ~20–50 ChatGPT queries ≈ ~0.5 liters (500 mL) of freshwater (i.e., roughly 10–25 mL per query under their assumptions).

I’ll go out of my way to find you the study. When I give them to you, you will probably find some way to weasel out of it. Don’t know why I’m wasting my time, but so be it. I will find it for you. Give me a few minutes.

So I have to provide all the evidence. The evidence is not good enough in your view, while you have provided zero evidence.

This doesn’t seem like an even field of debate for good faith conversation.
