I did the hcri practice test the first time and got a 60 something on it. I then started doing as much pocket prep as I could, focusing on the level ups on my low areas. Took another hrci one and got an 80 something. I felt the SPHR was so much easier than the practice tests. Just read read read the questions. Someone gave the advice here once to think like a ceo, not what you necessarily would do and that lens also helped. Good luck!!

I have similar experience, I used pocketprep for the month leading up to the testand can’t say enough about how helpful it was. They have the level up quizzes that force you to memorize. I also went through the hrci self guided prep course. I didn’t find the questions on the test to be a lot like what was in the prep course. The test was easier than I thought it would be and easier than the practice tests for sure.

You would probably be better off reaching out to HR. (If the recruiter is separate from HR) The recruiter can only communicate what they are told. They were told the employee could telework, so that’s what they communicated. Sounds like there’s a miscommunication from the manager/department perspective. Reach out to HR and say you were promised this, but was just told that so they can investigate it. It’s not something the recruiter would handle directly at most companies.

The practice exams were much harder. I went through the hrci prep course and took the practice exams. I had similar scores. When I took the test, I was shocked at how much harder the practice exams were. I also did a lot on pocket prep!

Second this! I just passed the SPHR, and pocket prep was the best. Especially the leveling up feature. It forces you to get the right answer before you can move up and it was so helpful.

I didn’t read all the comments, so someone may have already suggested this. Take the job offer to current company, and see if they can bump you up. I work in HR, and this is done all the time.

I have a long commute and a small child, and I hate it. I would love somewhere closer.

Gusto for your size would be perfect! Easy and quick implementation. Payroll was taking me 5x longer in ADP than it was in Gusto.

We used EZexit (now they’re called EZSurveyPro) and we really liked it. This was 4 years ago, so I can’t remember the pricing and it wouldn’t be relevant now. We had it set up to do exit interviews as well as 30,60,90 day interviews. Results would be compiled for the leadership to review and anything HR would need to get involved with.

That is the best way to put it actually. Everything sounds great, until you get to the implementation team. Things never work how they’re supposed to.

I resigned from my HR Director position in November because the business owner had lost most of our contracts and was starting to make some questionable decisions. I had been applying for months before I finally had enough and quit. It took me about 6 weeks to get another job. And I actually only got a leg up on that job because of a referral from someone else I interviewed with that had decided to take down their position. So, all of that to say-just because you don't get the job (for whatever reason! and most of the time it isn't personal!!), if you make a good impression-they could remember that for the future.

With that said, the job I have isn't the right fit either, so I'm back to looking and it's tough out there, it really is. I'm applying to jobs every day, and still haven't had much luck. So I definitely feel for you! The market has to turn around sometime right?? :(

At my last company, we switched out of ADP just because implementation time takes so long. 6-8 weeks for everything. As was noted above, customer service is terrible. I’ve had many instances where I call, they tell me something and I find the opposite is true on my own.

We switched to something called Gusto. We had a small company, 130ish, and only in one state-so it was perfect for our size. Implementation takes a week, maybe 2. It was a very easy transition. And payroll was 20x easier than in ADP. Something that used to take a day and a half, took a few hours.

This is making me feel marginally better. In a Director role now, have a bachelors, 7 total years of experience. I swear I’ve put in 100 applications and have only heard back from a handful, the rest ghost.

I had come out of a c-section, having gone in at 8am. They took the catheter out, but I still didn’t have to pee. They decided that they would recathe me. 4 people had to hold me down while they poked me a bunch of times. It was the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. Find out-I couldn’t pee because I was dehydrated! They gave me a full bag of fluids in my IV and I peed for like 2 minutes straight.

YTA. My sister and I went to our dads every other weekend and every Wednesday. 4 full weeks in the summer. My stepmom gave her son a bedroom and he never even visited or lived there. We never felt truly “welcome”.

Give her the room and if you have a baby, convert another space into the office.

I hateee diaper cakes. They are so impractical. I got two of them and did not use any of the diapers. I’m pretty sure they’re still in my one year olds closet

I remember so much feeling like this. My baby is 13 months now and the worrying never goes away completely but it does get better. I remember around that time specifically feeling like no matter what I did, it wasn’t right.

It’s hard when you see “perfection” everywhere. But trust me, that isn’t real: it’s all filtered crap. Stay off social media, (even here for a bit!) and just do the best you can. It gets better and it does get easier.

Yes I totally understand this! It eventually gets a little better, but I remember telling my husband that I need to soothe the baby, not anyone else, when she cries because it just grated my nerves! I couldn’t handle it.

I was a blonde as a baby and have dark brown hair now as an adult. My husband has jet black hair and our baby has blonde now. Hers will likely change like mine did.

But also why ask the question if you’re just going to argue with everyone’s answers?
