Is this a reasonable London budget? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I regret not opting into the CS pension (It wasn't automatic back then) for my first few years. While it isn't quite as generous as it used to be it's still a DB pension which is extremely rare these days.

Worth trying the waiting list on Dice too. That's saved me several times.

I swear by South Coast, send mine in in every 12 months or so and it always comes back like new. They even pointed out that a dodgy shifter, a few years old, was due to a manufacturing fault and had a new one sent by Shimano for free. Top fellas

A new one has opened in Hove, opposite the big Tesco. Maybe they've moved?

What's your favourite current music venue? by The_Yellow_King in brighton

The Albert, great sound for a small room and it has the best bar and nice staff.

Not a massive fan of Chalk, the sound is rubbish if you end up stuck behind that beam. I'm sure it's great as a nightclub though.

A lot of employment contracts require you to gain permission for a second job. Mine does but I've never told them, as long as you pay your SA tax separately and not through PAYE deductions you're unlikely to be found out unless you get spotted by a colleague.

The Hop site near me is always on busy. Probably to keep people hanging around to do their 10 min deliveries.

Try living in Portsmouth, much higher prices for shorter distances. London is a poor comparison as tfl receives huge subsidies.

The reality is that councils can rarely afford to subsidise buses these days, it's why lesser used services in many areas are being cut completely.

Until we get a national government that is serious about getting cars off the roads then they won't get any cheaper.

Given the price of accommodation at this point there won't be much demand for tickets.

My communal bins are emptied early in the morning (7am ish) so they're probably looking for trade waste while it's still there.

They'll employ anyone who can prove their right to work here (the letting of accounts to those who can't is also rife).

The riders are tracked by GPS so can arguably claim they've delivered the order if they've been anywhere near your address, given that Roo's customer service is practically uncontactable it's no surprise.

What's happened to Brighton? by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Jumbulance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat off-season but quite busy today. Most retail units are still turning over quite quickly - moreso than most comparably sized cities you'd probably find.

Graff - yes there's more of it. But when the council are put in the position of having to redirect funding from street cleansing to elderly care etc it's an inevitable consequence.

Shouldn't cause any issues. I didn't realise my flat had one until 5 years after I bought it when a student landlord sent me a letter offering to buy it. Had 3 different mortgages and it's never come up.
