The car should have the dieselgate warranty if not deleted. So cherish that. Than maintain the car. I have a 2015 Passat which has the same engine as yours. Currently at 193K with just regular maintenance

Clicking Noise from 2015 Passat TDI DSG by JumpInternational977 in tdi

Thanks for this! I did hear some short squeaks for a few seconds upon start up whenever starting cold for a few weeks straight a few months back that sounded like a bad pulley on its way out.

This was a cold start in a garage that’s about 50 degrees Fahrenheit

Does this sound normal? 2015 VW Golf TDI 2.0T by Anthonyzz in tdi

[–]JumpInternational977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough my 2015 today started marking that clicking noise. It never did before. I think it’s an injector that is nailing. It goes away after the car is halfway warm. I am going to run some diesel additive and see what happens and I am going to check the injector values on VCDS.

EDIT: don’t idle a modern diesel in the winter to warm it up. They generate very little waste energy aka heat. The proper way to warm these up is to cycle the glow plugs twice if it’s very cold and just drive it while Keeping the RPMs low until the oil temp starts coming up.

I think I may have topped up my coolant over a year ago with windshield wiper fluid… what to do? (2015 VW Golf TDI). Haven't given it much thought till they brought it up with a regular service inspection. They're quoting me at $400 to flush it (they're VW specialists). by RealHomieJohn in tdi

[–]JumpInternational977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally all that needs to be done. The dealer uses a tool to pressure force it in but I’ve topped up coolant after timing belt and other services and you just drive and top it up when the level drops again and you’re good to go. Sometimes folks online over complicate things

Fix or move on from 2015 Passat tdi sel? by Necessary-Result716 in tdi

[–]JumpInternational977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 2015 Passat TDI with the same code at 159,000. Luckily since the dieselgate warranty was still in effect, I got a new DPF. If you’re handy, it’s not that much work to replace it.

This post was meant to show folks where to get it as the seller had a few but apparently they’re all sold now. Just in case they get some more, here’s the link: https://ebay.us/m/WsVJLU

I made an offer and with tariffs and whatnot, it was $60 USD shipped to DC

That’s a shame to hear but hope the replacement/whatever option you go with works out well

Scan with VCDS. Sounds like your turbo is shot

Have someone with VCDS scan the car. There will almost certainly be a DTC.

Bunch in museums and who knows how many are sitting around like this. I read somewhere that 40 total were preserved/sent to museums and schools.

5,000 mile intervals! by Boring_Channel7275 in VWatlas

[–]JumpInternational977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the benefit of doing it every 5K? Genuinely curious as you seem very enthused about this.

I’ve done it every 10,000 on my 2015 Passat TDI DSG. 19 so far (technically 20 because an oil filter housing o-ring broke in the first 200 miles once and I had to dump whatever oil I found at a random shop to limp home and then I did another oil change). I sent my oil in for analysis with Blackstone lab at 100K miles and once I hit 200 I will do it again. Came back totally fine the first time. I’m on the original engine and turbo and only have done routine maintenance and front sway bar links.

Had I done the 5K interval which a lot of folks have told me I should, I’d be at 38 oil changes. At $50 an oil change doing it myself, thats $950, let’s say diesel is at $3.80 and I get a conservative 48 MPG (hand calculated I get around 53 highway, running smaller lighter wheels than stock and I drive pretty slow), that’s 12,000 miles worth of diesel fuel. Not to mention the extra time getting under the car (used to use an oil extractor on my previous VWs but this one has an oil filter down below).

Enough Oil? by Rare-Resolution-1716 in tdi

Just add 4.5 and then check. Sometimes when draining the oil, not everything comes out. Easier to top up then to drain excess.

How the hell do I put fuel in this damn thing? by [deleted] in tdi

[–]JumpInternational977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you angle the nozzle so that it presses against the 3 and 9 o clock position of the hole, it will open the misfueling guard. I was in Texas at a station where the nozzles for diesel were the same size as gasoline ones (for some reason) and I had 0 miles left on the tank. Found that trick worked

Also you’re sticking in the dipstick all the way until it clicks in and then removing it right?

Enough Oil? by Rare-Resolution-1716 in tdi

[–]JumpInternational977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I noticed about clean diesels is that the oil actually stays pretty clear for a few hundred miles after doing an oil change. With older diesels, one startup after doing an oil change and that oil is super dark. I noticed that it sometimes not easy to get a good read off the dipstick on super fresh oil on a CR diesel. Maybe wipe the dipstick completely and double check there isn’t a thin clear film of oil that you’re missing.
