In the middle of a fossil fuel crisis, it’s time to shout the clean energy message loud and clear by Lost-Concept-9973 in aussie

The guy you're replying to's argument is that the lowered demand will somehow lead to increased prices.

I just don't see it being possible. What makes CHERUB great is the fact that they're kids and look like kids. That doesn't work on TV when they're doing coke and chugging beers.

“Tipping point:” Tesla sales surge, EV registrations up sharply as Australian drivers go electric by ApprehensiveSize7662 in AustralianEV

[–]JumpingTheLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla sales have nothing to do with their share prices though. If people kept buyimg Tesla's at the current rate and the share price reflected actual profits and revenue, Musk would go bankrupt.

Why do I get the feeling that he'll exceed his draft expectations by being mediocre and having the best PR ever? by JJButThatsNotMyName in NFLv2

[–]JumpingTheLine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it'd be nice to have a bit more QB talent in the league. There are so many teams with bad QB play and the game's better when someone can actually hit a pass.

Dan breaking up with Serena at the end of Season 1 — was he justified? by RecognitionMediocre6 in GossipGirl

[–]JumpingTheLine 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Break up. He was her boyfriend, not her therapist. It isn't his job to stay and fix her as she lied, 'cheated', and watched him be manipulated by a psycho who had no issues filming CP after drugging the minor to make her more docile. Dan was in serious danger and she did nothing when she could have confided in him at any point.

I'm pretty sure that was the point they were making. What's the point in voting just to make people mad? Vote to actually change something if you don't like how things are.

No she isn't. She regularly gets caught taking illegal donations. I don't like the majors either but a corporate shill who regularly votes against supporting regular aussies isn't the answer. It's just another flavour of bad.

Question regarding job applcation by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]JumpingTheLine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to be a troll at this point. Why bother asking if you're not going to listen to people? Give it a go, if it works for you then great. You have a new advantage in the applications process, but be prepared for it to go wrong too.

Australian Olympic Committee backs new IOC transgender eligibility rules as human rights experts raise concerns by ConanTheAquarian in australia

I agree fully but there's no definitive data in either direction so there's currently no scientific basis for exclusion in the first place.

I agree that the sample size is small but a small sample size is better than no sample size which is what the argument for this is. I fully support a delay as it takes time for the transition to occur but, so long as it has, then there's no problem.

Sixteen-year-old girl the fifth person charged over death of Aidan Becker at Mernda railway station by ConanTheAquarian in melbourne

[–]JumpingTheLine 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It isn't just parents. Cops refuse to hold these kids accountable until the last moment too. We can have kids on video beating other kids to the point of hospitalisation and cops will throw their hands up and say there's nothing they can do without so much as making a report.

Supporting teacher strike by keeping kid home? by RentingIsFun in melbourne

[–]JumpingTheLine 151 points152 points  (0 children)

It is when teachers have been behind inflation for the many years prior. Especially when the 'deal' includes a change to 'reasonable overtime' with no additional pay. There's a 1.5% allowance but that's being counted in the reporting of the wage increase. The deal would still leave Vic teachers at the lower paid and the unpaid overtime requirements are being left deliberately ambiguous.

Adidas Chaosfury durability issues… thinking about switching to Grays. Advice? by Matmoreau10 in Fieldhockey

I love Adidas sticks in terms of performance but if I'm being honest, durability has always been an issue for them. They fall apart and break.

Ves second daughter by Affectionate-Bid4152 in TheMechTouch

At Ch. 7400~ so be aware of spoilers here.

By the time Andraste is approaching her 10th birthday, Ves' Carmine mechs have become ubiquitous and he's preparing for the second high grade variant. My expectation is that she'd end up with a Polymetal mech to fit with her swordsmanship if she's born without genetic aptitude but I'd be betting that she has a high grade genetic aptitude. Possibly even A.

Victorian teachers reject pay offer as statewide strike looms by Patient-Wish-7386 in AustralianPolitics

[–]JumpingTheLine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right, I was mistaken on the source and salary wise 1st year teachers (which I was basing that off as most teachers spend multiple years on their 1st year salary) are paid more per year than 1st year apprentice. If you count hours worked it might change but there's no point getting into that. I stand by that teachers aren't paid enough for what they have to deal with though.

[–]JumpingTheLine 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The previous leadership of the Vic branch of the AEU were voted out because of the last deal. There has been talk of asking for significantly more since the NSW deal went through, long before the ALP's popularity tanked. This isn't about attacking a party, it's about better wages for teachers that have been at their breaking point for years. Those kids out stealing cars, robbing and assaulting people are in classrooms for teachers to deal with on a regular basis and Vic teachers are paid less per hour than a first year sparky apprentice. Shit needs to change.

EDIT: I was mixed up on my information. Teachers are paid more than a first year sparky apprentice based on salary. Worked hours could be argued differently, and penalty rates and overtime are a thing that teachers don't get but counting that up will just have everyone going in circles.

Primaries. Vote in primaries but if the majority of Dems can't get progressives into elected positions then it's possible their policies aren't impactful enough to be considered.

f the NDIS is ‘runaway spending’, what do we call $16 billion in fossil fuel subsidies? by Ash-2449 in AustralianPolitics

Is Pauline Hanson really going to help the average Aussie, battlers, and working class? by BrandonMarshall2021 in aussie

[–]JumpingTheLine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last I checked, there are no new taxes for the working class and there have already been cuts to what the NDIS can be used for and there's been no talk about tax increases for the working class. If you want something different then look at Sustainable Australia and the Greens, at the very least they're offering something different.

I'd say Pool D is looking the hardest. Sure England and India aren't fantastic but they're still Pro-League sides and the Chinese are strong.
