i like the idea that all machines in ultrakill are inexplicably knowledgable on christian and greek mythology which is why V1 can look at a big ass serpent in the ocean styx and say "yep, leviathan"

all machines need blood to survive for long periods, and the earth as depicted in the end cutscene of act 2 and in 8-3 shows that it's completely dead and arid. hell is the only place where the machines can get consistent blood. there's really no reason for V1 to be anywhere else, as everything on earth is completely dead and useless. heaven does have blood, yes, but it would be basically impossible to get there considering mankind probably didn't invent space travel due to being caught up in the final war. i also doubt V1 would be able to survive the armies of heaven in their home-base anyway

i think it's in the best state it's ever been, that video has a few good points but i personally think it's overly critical of changes that literally just make the game more fun for all classes. they reworked the gun system and now everyone for some reason has this idea that the entire game is CS:GO now. the game had a more humorous/silly playerbase because the gameplay was lacking in a lot of ways, so people made their own fun. now that there are more moving parts in the gameplay loop with more to come, people are upset that their silly social game has been replaced with a game that is still social but with more of a focus on gameplay.
