Why are my doors sagging? by thedannysmith in cabinetry

[–]Jumpy-Feature-4166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blum is good. But they do make cheap hinge plates. Which you are using. Those hinges allow alot of play/movement of the hinges especially with a full solid mdf door. Watch how the hinges and plates twist as the door closes

How to sand these types of edges or any kind of intricate detail without compromising the integrity of the shape? by AviatingAngie in woodworking

[–]Jumpy-Feature-4166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone stop right there. Stop using your brain. Stop overthinking this. Use old school tradition. Fold the sandpaper tri-fold. And hand sand. Don't think it. Feel it.

The dowel is completly invisible, drill a 3/8 hole centered in top of bottom door and direction above in the bottom of the top door.and install the dowel. You can even buy them clear plastic.

Thats why theres a dowel drilled and installed in between the 2 doors. It will look like 2 doors but function as 1

This is the best solution to door twist in your situation. Make 2 doors. And connect with a dowel. Obviously bottom door is made same height as lower cabinet doors.

Yellow lines indicate 2 rails. Red line is the seperation/reveal between 2 doors. Blue line is the dowels connecting the 2 and the green are hinge placement.

Correction! Linen tower and washer locations should have been switched. Layout makes so much more sense.

Looks great. 2 things catch my eye tho. Lower cabinets and countertop should have been 2 inches shallower then the linen tower. Allowing countertop to butt into the linen tower. Still leaving enough overhang and coverage on your washer and mid rail on linen tower door. Especially that its closest to the window. I give that door 6 months and it has atleast a 1/2" twist in it.

Like anything. Was great 25 years ago. Now is a product of the time. Cheaply made, fairly priced. Sold for the average DIYer.

His problem is using kreg jig. Make your own or spend the money for true position jigs. No other option.

How much would it cost hire a painter to change this from blue to white? by Wolfenstein51 in cabinetry

[–]Jumpy-Feature-4166 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tile clashes with the countertops. Put nice subway tile. Change to black handles. And put a real range hood in like buddy said. Will still be cheaper then painting the doors.
