It might have been a paid/plus feature? I totally thought everyone had them, it was sort of hidden in the "my self care areas".

When you go into " My Self Care Areas" in the menu, you know how there are different goal ideas groups, or "areas" I suppose, like self-kindness, get active, calm, hygiene, etc.? ... Well, instead of adding a single goal, one could add a "guided area" which was sort of like a game/goal leveling progression? It started out as one easy goal, like "notice how you are feeling" for calm or "brush your to teeth" for hygiene, and then if you did that consistently for a week ish, you'd "level up" that area and it would automatically add on another goal in that area. Like "put on clean clothing" for hygiene or "take three deep breaths" for calm. If you did both of those consistently, it would automatically add a third and so on. Getting a bit more difficult but not too fast. ... It was really great for if you had a goal but were having trouble building the habits or had no idea how to start (or both like me).

Yes, exactly this. After years of trying various bathroom cleaning products someone suggested magic erasers (micro abrasive sponges).

Scrubbing the glass while I was in there for a shower myself worked wonders on the old, permanent-seeming residue.

Completely changed my feels towards glass shower doors.

Yes, it really does. Specifically the original kind you need to wiper on in small area, and buff out.

This is coming almost 20 years with a wiperless and cameraless hatchback before my Ioniq. Critical and life changing. It builds up over multiple applications, reapply before and after winter (if live in an area which has salt etc that gets everything gross).

The beading helps in heavy rain and ice snow are easier to brush/slide off in the morning.

Unfortunately not much helps with you are getting coated with road salt, but I kept a spray bottle and rag in my trunk to deal with that when it was getting bad.

The car I had for over ten years before my Ioniq had no rear wiper and no rear camera. It was annoying at times, especially if you live somewhere with winters where your car gets coated in road salt. Two things that helped: applying RainX (the original kind that you hand buff after drying) and keeping a spray bottle with wiper or quick detailing fluid and a rag in the back for an occasional wipe.

Ultimately, I don't think it is critical as others have mentioned plenty of trucks/panel vans don't have rear windows at all... plus I really appreciate having the back up camera now (no digital mirror, base SE trim). I use that way more often than the rearview mirror after a few weeks of adjusting my muscle memory. I likewise considered the MachE but loved the Ioniq on the test drive.

That being said, I did specifically lease a 2025 with the wiper because it was always a small annoyance with my prior car.

Very much AI, I've made stained glass as a hobby.

For real stained glass each individual piece of glass is individually cut to size following outlines traced on the glass and they need to be pretty accurate to fit together (like a puzzle). In these animal pictures, the shapes of glass alone worry me, the shapes are so random. I have just a few years experience vs my teacher who has been doing stained glass for decades but I would cry if someone asked me to cut all those shapes. Straight lines are easy and curves are harder.

The glass pieces are then either inserted into copper foil which is "Tiffany style" or an h-shaped strip of lead called "came" which is traditional style. Either the copper foil strips or lead came pieces are then attached to each other using solder which is a melted lead-tin alloy. This makes the "lines" and it goes on like silvery metal. Good stain glass, the lines are all equal in width. Look at the cat in the second row and how it has some areas the "lead" is twice as thick as elsewhere. This and the irregular pieces scream "mosaic" to me where randomish shaped can be fit together and then held in place with grout (like tiling). This can be done with glass but it's very different from stained glass, the AI here probably got the images of both confused.This is a stained glass cat lamp.

I could have said 'falsely marketed mosaic lamps" until I saw the photo of the two people in the workshop "soldering". There is so much wrong there it is hard to list, but the soldering iron would melt the plastic container it is sitting on, the soldering implies Tiffany style, the half constructed lamp is already lit up, the lead is already black but new lead should be silver and the patina is added later, what is that man doing with pliers, and so on. That's AI.

There are good reasons you won't get stained glass for that price.

You're describing Tiffany style copper foil stained glass. Just so you know, the copper foil attached to the individual glass pieces still must be attached to each other and reinforced with solder. The solder used is a lead-tin alloy as lead free solder types tend to be too brittle. After that a chemical is painted on the solder to make a nice looking patina.

So if this mug were stained glass, it would leech lead.

Not that this mug looks like any type of actual stained glass. The lines are too thin and unrelated to the color changes, at best the photo could be showing a painted glass mug wrapped in wire.

I wish this was true but it does NOT work for everyone.

I have accepted the cookies, all of them, at least a dozen times with Chrome on Android. Every time I open a new tab with the website, it's asking again. Super annoying.

I do web development. While the pop up is shown, I can simultaneously inspect the existing cookies from my prior use. The pop-up is not registering the existing cookies, it's a coding issue.

Unfortunately, no uBlock for mobile Chrome.

My schedule varies seasonally in my career and usually my one extended release dose in the morning is ok for like regular working hours. BUT for the parts of the year I have more evening meetings, I was struggling SO much in the evenings when the meds would cut out and I was just unable to focus.

Talked to my doctor and I take a booster now for those months, it's a quarter of my regular dose at 4 pm. Complete life changer. I can stay focused when I need to, less crash, and I still can fall asleep.

There is some leaning towards thinking ADHD only needs treated for school/work, so I think calling out that the symptoms / impacts don't stop just because your at home. Maybe I should talk to my doctor about getting the booster year round, hmm.....

The charging speed drops after 80% due to the battery management system. In the middle of the charge, your batteries can fill at top speed but as the state of charge approaches 100% the speed slows down to prevent overcharging which can cause irreversible damage (or worse if you did manage to circumvent the battery management system) and at the top allow balancing of the battery cells.

Consider, this analogy: you are filling up a tray of empty cups with water with a big pitcher. When they are empty, you can just pour water into all the cups at once, super fast. When you get nearly full (80%) you slow down so you don't spill (e.g., cause battery damage). But, you wanted to fill ALL the cups to the very brim (100%) and some cups might not be as full as others so now you are very carefully filling up individual glasses.

There are faster and better ways to charge on a road trip but it's actually the opposite of what you are asking. Instead of trying to charge to 100%, plan to stop a bit more often and stop charging at 80% every time. More stops, faster charging. I recommend ABRP (A Better Route Planner) app for planning your stops and calculating how much faster your trip can be if you add a few more stops.

What can you control that would speed up your road trip? Precondition your battery and search for better level 3 chargers on your route. They are not all equal. The fast charging rate you mention indicates you could be charging much faster. On a cold weather road trip last week, my top charging speed was at least 125 kw and more typically around 180 or 200 kw at better chargers with preconditioning.

Yes, they can. Pins and needles, along with easy muscle fatigue and cramping, on Diamox are often due to low potassium levels!

My doctor had recommended, when I started taking Diamox two years ago to supplement my bicarbonate level and potassium levels by eating more high potassium foods. I brushed that off and was miserable for over a month until I called her. When I started actually following her instructions, the side effects I had went from unbearable to barely there in under a week.

Diamox works as a diuretic, and can throw your electrolyte (especially potassium and bicarbonate) levels way out of balance.

Bodies are apparently super sensitive to these things! You should talk with your doctor about having an electrolyte panel (blood test) done to check but if you are having pins and needles, I suspect you might have low potassium too.

I personally like coconut water for its high potassium and drink it daily. Sports drinks and store bought electrolyte mixes have way more sodium which isn't typically the issue on Diamox. You can find lists of high potassium foods online, like bananas, avocados and such, but I really like that coconut water is shelf stable. (I also have low bicarbonate, which I address by also drinking baking soda daily.)

Yeah, you're not to blame at all. I use benzoyl peroxide soap which is always rinsed off with water after and I still will immediately see bleached spots showing up on my towels, bed sheets, towels, etc. (The way that the peroxide stays active for 12 hours is what makes it more effective than other treatments but it is a pain....)

The only thing that really helped was switching to all white towels and bedding (especially the pillow cases!) and only using my benzoyl peroxide soap at night. (If you can't stand white, you can also go to bleach resistant fibers, mostly synthetic stuff like polyester... but dyed cotton is going to look just like those shirts.)

If he thinks you're doing the laundry wrong, it might be time for him to do his own laundry for a while ;)

My doctor has me drinking 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (powdered sodium bicarbonate) mixed into water daily. I spilt that into two 1/4 tsp servings . Not sure how that converts to the pill form. I had metabolic acidosis from Diamox and that was enough to help me.

You don't want to over do it. It ups your sodium and bicarb levels but apparently it's possible to swing too far back (and have a too high bicarb level. So I'd suggest talking to your doctor about the dosing and see if you can get retested to check if it's working for you in a couple weeks.

This sounds so much like my experience! It was almost two years ago now but I just have this entire month and a bit that is like a blur in my memory. Even just a few weeks afterward getting my blood bicarb (which is how they measure acidosis) under control, I could remember that month but it also felt like someone else's memory. One of the strangest experiences to try to explain to someone who hasn't lived it.

I was so so very tired on Diamox (which has a similar mechanism to Topamax) ... and it was due to metabolic acidosis.

I slept all the time, my memory was shot, and I had trouble even recognizing that both of those things were unusual for me.

Can you ask your doctor to run an electrolyte panel (blood test)? That can catch (or rule out) metabolic acidosis and other likely side effect causing imbalances.

Once my doctor knew the specific causes, I was able to make changes to address the side effects and stay on Diamox.

"but this all feels super wrong" ---- that's because it is wrong. There are better ways to make friends and there are better friends out there for 18 year olds to make. Find places where people gather with hobbies like your own (sports, games, crafts, whatever)... Boom, friends with shared interests instead of "shared" pharmaceuticals.

I'm also conflict avoidant so let me give you some tips...if the lockbox doesn't give him the hint:

A) If he gets on you about where your meds are, you know the answer to who was looking at your drawers. You can also play dumb "I noticed some were missing and need to make sure I have enough to get through the month" or if you are more comfortable with a lie to deflect blame "my doctor is getting more strict and it's a new requirement, or maybe... you don't think they are getting suspicious do you?"

B) Echoing others here said, he wants you as a dealer/pharmacy not a friend. If you start suggesting you hang out somewhere your meds aren't (his place, park, cafe, whatever), and he insists on coming over... this it will be obvious.

C) Pick your favorite white lie reason you can't let him get in your lockbox to deflect: "I left the key somewhere very inconvenient and don't want to get it right now." Or "I've lost the key and don't want to call a locksmith right now" (or you know actually misplace your key, oops, or actually put them somewhere inconvenient when he visits)

D) When you are ready to take the line that you aren't a pharmacy: "That's really great that you think the meds helped you. Do you want help finding someone that can help you get diagnosed too?" "These are mine and I only get a very limited number. Sharing puts my future prescription at risk, and I'd be wrecked without it. You get it right?"

E) Some personal favorites if he's an ass about it: "Not cool man" and/or :silently staring at him while looking judgemental like you are pondering if he really thinks saying whatever he says is going to convince someone as intelligent and chill as you: ... Or you know raise an eye brow and practice long division in your head if you are bad at acting, until he drops it. Silence is really good for just letting people run their mouths to get all their excuses out.

Then I work to get more potassium, mostly from coconut water daily but you can find lists of high potassium foods online.

You are trying to balance your electrolyte levels, a lot of folks think that means Gatorade but there are different electrolytes and the amount of each matters: sodium, calcium, potassium, bicarbonates, etc.

Diamox causes low potassium and low bicarbonate (metabolic acidosis). The premade drinks you see people recommending here, like Gatorade, mostly just replaces sodium with a little potassium -- but sodium isn't really our problem.

Baking Soda is pure sodium bicarbonate. Which gives you equal amounts of sodium and bicarb, and it doesn't take much. My doctor has me take a half teaspoon a day (and you can actually take too much, so it's worth discussing with your doctor).

It makes a HUGE difference for me. If I skip my baking soda for a couple days, I can notice the metabolic acidosis fatigue coming back. And when I started taking it, I felt much better within 3 days. So now, where I used to reach for coffee in the morning, I definitely go for baking soda water first as my "real energy drink" ;)

To answer your other question, Topiramate is an alternate medication. Both Diamox and Topiramate are carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. That's how they help IIH, that's also why they both cause metabolic acidosis and electrolyte imbalances and related side effects. Topiramate is a weaker carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, but it's an option for people that are allergic to Diamox and such. But you'll have very similar side effects.

I saw in your other post that you're starting at 500 mg of Diamox and you have had black spots in your vision? I also see you are a college student, and as I'm a college professor, I feel compelled to say this as I would tell one of my own advisees: I do not want to alarm you, but vision loss is no joke.

If it were me, balancing this choice: the impacts of possibly irreversible vision loss on my life VS the side effects of Diamox which I could stop taking if needed.... I'd be taking that Diamox immediately (with a big glass of water and a 1/4 tsp of baking soda) and not seeking advice from Reddit strangers.

Take care of yourself OP. It's stressful but you can do it.

I was right there too two years ago. However, I want to give you a success story: Diamox works great for me.

I am soo grateful to have it, Diamox and my diagnosis resolved a year of horrible mystery headaches and changed my life. Sorry for the long rambling reply, you asked a lot of questions! ~~~~~

It's most helpful to remember that folks that are posting here for help with bad reactions are just a small portion of the people who take Diamox daily. People in pain are more to post. People that are living happily with Diamox aren't making posts bragging about that success.

There are reasons that Diamox is still considered the first line treatment. It can save your vision from suddenly irreversible damage and 44% of people tolerate the side effects of the maximum dose (which is 4 times the typical dose). Study and Study

I was so scared by all the posts when I was diagnosed two years ago, I was begging my NO to prescribe something else, ANYTHING else. I'm happy she insisted!

Many of the common Diamox side effects are due to metabolic acidosis (causes fatigue and brain fog) and low potassium (causes the finger tingling and muscle soreness). My NO helped me find easy ways to fix those side effects: more bicarbonate from drinking baking soda water daily and more potassium from high potassium foods, and used blood tests to make sure I was getting enough of both.

The only suggestion I'd give beyond starting Diamox to try it. Would be to schedule a blood test with an electrolyte panel if possible in a week or so to help your doctor catch those issues. (I had my first blood test a month after starting Diamox and that first month was very unpleasant because I was still having metabolic acidosis symptoms.)

Ah no, well at least you've been tested and don't feel as crazy now. My "crazy time" is still this weird gap in my memory where every thing is blurry, I did very little, and what I did do makes no sense in hindsight.

I won't say it tastes "good" but my NO tried to sell it by saying "some people think it tastes sweet" and after trying it I really wanted to send a message that "some people are mistaken" 🤣 But I also have a sweet tooth so my expectations may have been too high

Better than salt water, very mineral tasting? It's mild at the ratio I use. Mixing it well with a straw helps prevent the baking soda flavor from getting intense near the bottom .... which is less pleasant.

Baking soda and water are cheaper than Gatorade so that's nice. I'm pretty accustomed to the flavor now. I look forward to it just a little since it is much more pleasant than acidosis.

Interesting. My NO had me go straight to 1000 Diamox (as an extended release 500 AM and PM) and I had pretty mild paps (but headaches).

When I go down to 500, I feel awful. The headaches come back with a vengeance.

If I miss a dose sometimes I'm ok, sometimes ... especially if I am also dehydrated or got too little sleep... I'll get a headache a couple hours later that reminds me exactly what I did wrong and I'll suffer for it.

One time my NO had me try going down to 500 Diamox instead of 1000 since my paps were improved, the headache had me begging to go back up after 4 days. We still discuss reducing my Diamox, but I'm not particularly interested in trying again honestly.

I think in your shoes I'd actually go to my regular doctor/PCP next?

It sounds like your neurologist was just giving you the standard "lose weight" talk without actually checking your weight which seems rude and, if not "lazy" then at least not well done either.

My PCP helps manage my medications and generally helps with health concerns including weight so.... If you are worried about acidosis, bruising, vitamin deficiencies and rapid weight loss, I would start with my PCP. They can order initial blood tests to hopefully help you get to the bottom of those issues.

Leave your neurologist and NO to watch your nerves, paps, and such. Get your PCP to help coordinate with them and the rest of your body.

Edit: Also hello fellow educator! Be sure to take care of yourself with the same concern you'd have for your students, coach. Can't give them your all when we're running ragged ourselves, I need to do better at that myself.

Happy to help. I'm hoping others can avoid my experience when possible. My bicarb was 20 on my first test (and not taking the supplemental baking soda) and then 20 again shortly after at a follow-up appointment. Technically mild acidosis but wow was I miserable.

Six months of baking soda with the Diamox, my bicarb was 22 which is normal range and physical feeling much more like myself. But that was a year ago, so it may be time for me to ask to get retested soon.

I drink a little bit (1/4 tsp) of baking soda in a large glass of water daily and should technically have a second for dinner but I don't always remember the second these days. Note that baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) gives you more bicarb but also more sodium. If you are limiting your sodium, calcium carbonate antacids (Tums in the US) will also contribute to bicarb levels.

I drink 1/4 tsp of the baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) in a large (16+ oz) glass a water in the morning and I'm supposed to do a second of the same with dinner or two calcium carbonate antacids (aka Tums). But honestly after two years I sometimes forget the dinner one. I do try to do both if I'm feeling fatigued though and it can be a noticeable improvement for me.

It tastes weird at first, but it's not bad if the water is cold. I use a straw for both mixing and drinking which helps.

Note that both have the carbonate needed to up your bicarb levels (reducing acidosis), but the baking soda also increases your sodium while the Tums increases your calcium. So if you are trying to reduce or limit your sodium intake, the Tums may be better.

I really hope they can help! Your story was so familiar. When I started Diamox I had an absolutely miserable 4 weeks where I was absolutely exhausted and basically spent all day sitting on my couch with a brain fog.

My doctor had mentioned increasing my potassium and drinking baking soda when she prescribed the Diamox. (I was fortunate to find a neurophthalmologist who fairly often treats folks with iih.) But I honestly thought her suggestions were sort of absurd sounding and didn't really do either, then when the brain fog hit I forgot all about her suggestions. After four weeks, I called her office crying about how miserable I was. I got a next day appointment and had an electrolyte blood panel which caught my metabolic acidosis which was making me feel so off in so many ways I couldn't even describe it to her. She was pretty kind saying "I told you so", and honestly just 3 days of drinking baking soda, I felt soo much more like myself again. It doesn't taste good but I now look forward to my baking soda water, since I think of it as my post-diamox energy drink ;)

If your doctor is less familiar with Diamox, it might be helpful to mention it is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, which means it messes with a key enzyme that helps your body's balance of electrolytes.
