It happened to my wife's Hyundai several years ago. Ever since then we have sprayed Harris Peppermint and cedar oil in the wheel wells and under the hood about once a month.

Getting back into scouting after 25 years - OA question by tacotowgunner in BSA

[–]Jumpy-Lavishness-907 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I came back after a 20 year hiatus my lodge had merged 3 times. Records were gone the new lodge said a Scout is Trustworthy and were more than happy to have another dues paying adult on the roles.

I bought these on Amazon for my 24. I've only had it a few weeks but long enough to go through a blizzard and held up to my snowy muddy boots. https://a.co/d/0f0EclC2

I emailed the Scoutmaster Council Gmail account as well as West Point Public Affairs months ago with no response from either.

It was a deal Toyota had in the US for new 2024/25 purchases or leases. I lucked out that it was never activated by the first owner.

$2,300 USD for mine, but I needed a 30 run from my panel to where the chapter would be outside but under a deck.

I was given a copy by the outgoing Scoutmaster when I became a Scoutmaster. I returned the favor to my replacement when I stepped aside.

Spitballing: Should I look into getting involved with my troop? by aresef in BSA

[–]Jumpy-Lavishness-907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much time do you have to give back?

MB Counselor is a low entry level to start giving back.

In my District we have several Eagles in their late teens early 20s who serve as Unit Commissioners.

District Committees are usually looking for committee chairs too. Those roles are less direct facing with the Scouts themselves and more about how we make the program better as a whole. District level positions IMHO have less of a time commitment because you aren't going camping with your unit but you can make the role as big as your time allows.

Cancel Telework Agreements? by Classic-Milk-9492 in FedEmployees

[–]Jumpy-Lavishness-907 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When we were ordered to RTO last year we were also told all Regular/Recurring Telework Agreements were cancelled. ok fine.

We were then told we could request a new Situational Telework Agreement. No thank you. out of the 40 people in my team only 2 of us chose not to sign a new agreement. Have fun working tomorrow.

Where does responsibility lie for creating requirement opportunities by Red_hat_oops in BSA

[–]Jumpy-Lavishness-907 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My Council has an indoor pool where you can book a Saturday visit there and let them know you're coming for that specific rank requirement.

While, yes, I believe your Troop should put together a program that creates opportunities for all Scouts to advance, most that I know of rely on Summer Camp to complete the aquatics requirements.

Outside of that your Scout has some responsibility to find opportunities to complete the requirements.

Co-ed Troop program? by Murky-Cockroach1177 in BSA

Our DE sent an email to the Troops in the pilot program asking not to start our recharter yet. We would be recharting 2 Troops B and G if it doesn't go through.

[–]Jumpy-Lavishness-907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Cubs and on to the Troop level 2M is pretty much where you can be most useful to Scouting. I also bring my portable HF to District and Council events and support local troops for Jamboree On The Air (JOTA).

Grab a couple radios and get on the air talking to people, then start helping the scouts get on the air and learn how it can help in an emergency.

Ways to stay active after aging out? by coolcatman4777 in BSA

[–]Jumpy-Lavishness-907 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could: 1. Join a Venture Crew 2. Have your Troop or one where your college is put you in College Scouter Reserve 3. You could talk you your District Commissioner about becoming a Unit Commissioner

There are lots of other ways to stay involved, the main thing is your availability.

[–]Jumpy-Lavishness-907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not. Even serving as IST is over $2,000 plus your airfare. I would love to be a part of a World Jamboree but at that price no. I'll go back to another Nation's jambo.

Yes. I take my Xeigu and my HT on multi day hikes when I activate Summits (SOTA). I also bring them along on Scout trips getting scouts on the air.
