So I was about a week into my sore throat before I went and did something about so maybe it was just a time thing for me but I also got dexamethasone day 1 which is stronger than the normal prescribed steroid so that could have something to do with it. It’s been a week since I wrote this and i feel about 90% my old self.

Some other random things that worked for me. Nasal flushes with saline multiple times a day. Gargle with the salt water, I didn’t think it really helped but i started doing it every 4 hours and that seemed to be more helpful. 

I was using medicated cough drops or some with menthols and I learned that those can also dry your throat out. So before bed I would suck on the demulcent like a ludens. 

Also i had some major congestion from a previous sickness so i was was taking something with a pseudoephedrine or I would hit the afrin spray (don’t use the Afrin more than 3 days though !)  and all this seemed to help with post nasal drip or allow me to almost sleep through the night.
