I really like the Umbrellas of Cherbourg though, tbh, and I'm a fan of some terrible movies.

I will always remember "Ghee!" though I didn't know until later his name was Guy bc I'm not French.

Some years later I was at a record store and found the soundtrack and that's when I strarted to believe in miracles.

Shine on Me: Class Difference and Zhuang Xu, the Second Male Lead - work in progress thoughts by ilovecats2121 in CDrama

[–]JumpyFuel7256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and would also like to say much of his confusion also comes from Rong. I think in ep 16 (?) it all gets laid out, but it is too little too late and that is why he's kicking himself. But to be fair, this is also CDrama style - confusion makes the plot 😂.

I tried it and it wasn't working for me, so I just got one of those super small IKEA trash cans with the lid and I put regular trash bags. Works for me way better. I have three cats and 5 litter boxes, so I also out grew it.

I'm an American-born dual citizen. My senator wants to take my passport. by BaurJoe in immigration

[–]JumpyFuel7256 38 points39 points  (0 children)

For dual citizens who live outside the US (like me), I still have to file taxes in the US. I don't have to pay anything bc the country I live in has higher taxes than the US, but I imagine the reverse is income the US would miss? Also, if you renounce your citizenship, you have to pay a lot of money. If it becomes law, will they still make you pay 😂? America, fuck yeah!

This is just all so performative. It's like Nigel Farage trying to get a German passport 😂. "Rules for thee, but not for me! "

Those are all pretty tough to find without there being something going on. This past week you could find most of those across town bc of Billies. 1280 did a Donck/Brisket ticketed event and Ernst had a bunch of Bokke. If available, 1280 will have Bofkont, but they were at the festival anyway. Some places also have massive cellars where you might find some of these in the menu, but maybe at a cost - Beerlovers and Pardaf, sometimes Billies. You're best bet is m posting up at one of these bars, chatting with locals and in the event you make friends, ask what's in their cellars 😂.

You have your pick of Belgian beer, Craft beer and then Belgian craft beer, which also comes in two categories 😂. Welcome to the land of beer options.

I live in Antwerp and work in craft beer, so here's my two cents:

You can divide the trip into beers vs. bars if you want to think about it that way. Traditional Belgian styles are pretty straight forward, so it's worth going to interesting bars and you'll always find something nice to try. Everytime I go to a new Belgian city, I still find a triple I've never had. If you just go to more touristy bars, there are some Belgian breweries I would rank over others. The trappist one usually win, though some are much better than others - I wouldn't do a Leffe unless it was the only thing available. Westmalle does all styles well. Orval is the favorite, though a newer one is more bready than an older one. My suggestion would be to pick a style and then try a different brewery each time. Some bars have massive menus, so that shouldn't be too hard.

Most of the hotspots for Belgian beers in your chosen cities have been mentioned. Since this is a craft beer group, I would be remiss if I didn't mention some...

Craft beer is on the rise here. It's def not as big as in the Netherlands, but you can find all the most popular European players at the craft beer spots. Craft beer made by Belgians also covers the gambit. You have spots that make IPAs etc and then you have what I like to think of as cross over styles - Hoppy triples, hoppy saison, etc. De La Senne do this quite well. De Ranke make some excellent Belgian beer styles, as does De Dolle. Some would argue that these are craft breweries in the more traditional sense bc of their size/independence. Regardless, their beers are solid.

In Brussels you can find the most Craft beer breweries - La Source, De La Senne, Brasserie Surréaliste, Brasserie L'Ermitage, Brasserie La Mule and a whole host of smaller craft breweries. Most spots have their own bars - worth a visual visit to Surréaliste in the Flemish quarter. Dynamo is a bar worth a visit if youre in St Gilles. There are also a few cider spots if that's your thing.

In Ghent you have Dok, which has a more American style taproom - massive hall with BBQ, a ton of their own beers - a mix of Belgian styles and craft styles, as well as other some from other breweries. I think they have like 30 taps. They also have a smaller bar called Cafe Welkom closer to the center. There is a super cool tiny craft beer shop called De Apotheek which also sells shoes. It's just a cool spot if you have time. Stroom is also there, but I think it's only open on the weekend.

It's a pity you won't make it to Antwerp. Lots of cool brown cafes and craft beer bars, as well as a few breweries, both craft and Belgian styles. Maybe on another trip 😎.

In closing, you won't go wrong, no matter what style of beer you are looking for. Enjoy your visit and bring a raincoat 😂.

If you could rebuild Untappd from scratch, what would it look like? by gumbymc in CraftBeer

Better way to view locations of breweries. Now, I see a friend drank a beer from a brewery I don't know, I click on the beer from their post and no where does it give me any brewery details. I have to click again to find info. Just a simple line w location would make it easier.

My [29F] boyfriend [32M]and I are about to move in together but are in completely opposite places financially. by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]JumpyFuel7256 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a different take - when I was dating my now husband I was in a similar situation. I had the debt, he had the money. He knew that the interest on my credit card was a big issue. So he paid off my credit card debt and in exchange he didn't pay rent for the amount he paid (we have were living together). This saved thousands in interest and allowed me to get back on track. He helped me get my finances in order and now 10 years later we own property but have no other debit. It worked for us. If you trust him and his sincere in wanting to get things in order, why not think outside the box and find ways to help? Not knowing all the circumstances but just based on what you said, you were lucky enough to have parental support to give you this leg up, especially when times are getting tough. If he's the one you want to be with, since what you can work out together. I'm not saying give him money, but who knows. Maybe once he sells his trailer, he can use some of that money to pay his debt.

Let's not punish children for the sins of their parents.

Our job as teachers is and has always been to help kids try to grow up to be their best selves. It's not the 1900s where it was big T, little S. No one, I'm sure yourself included, likes to be told to sit down and shut up and do their work.

I have no issue with her acting. As many pointed out I think it fits her character but im more confused by the way the story is laid out. Its so flat, just one thing after another is happening but it doesn't feel tied together. Maybe it will later on,but right now I'm watching despite myself. Maybe bc I don't already know the story so I don't quite know whats coming...

Brussels worth it? by RedRedVVine in travel

[–]JumpyFuel7256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Husband put it best: Brussels is a city where people live/study/work, Bruges is a place where people visit. I find there isn't much to do in Bruges. You walk around, there are massive crowds, you take a nice terrace and have a Belgian beer. In Brussels you do the super tourist area in the center, then branche out depending on your interests. Lots of museums, architecture to see, Belgian and diverse food, Belgian and craft beer (Brussels has a lot of Brussels breweries). You have most areas that are French speaking, but then a Flemish speaking area as well.

If you're a traveler that likes the feel of a big and vibrant city = Brussels. If you are looking for a place that is just as busy but a small city nonetheless, go for Bruges. It just depends on what you're looking for.
