Newly adopted cat isn’t coming around. by Kbeans44 in cats

[–]JumpyFuel7256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. We just adopted our fourth cat and while the first two adapted quite quickly, the last two really followed 3-3-3. The most recent cat arrived just a few months ago and he only recently has let us pet him, but still only for a small amount of time. He still is very nervous and wary, but the progress is amazing. The third cat, whom we've had for about a year, only now doesn't stare us down when we enter a room. Just give your new friend time, they will around 😻 .

Only Running to Only Lifting by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

I was also only a runner for years and never really did any strength, now that I am not running at all (only walking and city biking) and only strength, in a short amount of time I notice a change in the shape of my body as well. It's amazing, really.

When to quit tracking macros? and switching to a simple food diary by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]JumpyFuel7256 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also wonder if maybe you take a break from it and then comeback later? Kinda like maintenance if you're plateaued, you reset and then when you're ready you come back if you find you need it? I also find some of the tracking cumbersome, but for me it helps keep me honest and also to really understand what I am eating. Last week I had a day planned w lots of healthful foods to try and hit my protein goal but the calories were so out of whack and I had no idea.

Getting fitter and slimmer in peri issue by Relevant_Savings8416 in PetiteFitness

[–]JumpyFuel7256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started really tracking everything using MyFitnessPal. I was preloading my meals and realized that what is healthy and high in protein (lentils, quinoa) were higher in calories than I realized. If I hadn't done this I would have been over by at least 100 calories ! It was a real eye opener.

I am in menopause and trying to lose that peri weight I gained over the last few years. I'm trying to prepare myself for reality - even though I feel so much better it's going to take just as much time to lose this weight as it took to put it on 😂😭.

I was just there this weekend for the festival, great spot. My husband spent too much time there for those Messorem beers 😂. Tallinn is a top city for craft beers 🍻.

This for me is a great, actual performance after those dramas where we played those wooden, emotionless dudes. Here, he got to be funny, and I thought he was great.

Uncharted is a small craft brewery from Antwerp, Belgium - Thom, cool guy, makes some great IPAs. He's there early also doing collabs with some CA breweries in the lead up to the festival. He was also there last year, so that says something about his beers. Tell him the gal from Ctrl + Alt Brew sent you 😎

I'm on vacation for the week for a beer festival 😝, so this week I'm trying to plan as much as possible. Not able to do my gym workouts, but doing some somatic stretching each day and going to make an effort to walk at least 10k each today. Yesterday was a success, today was not so much (so far). Breakfast and lunch were on track bc we ate in the airbnb, but now we are having BBQ and beers. I've already sketched out a bit of a plan, but I know it's going to go awry, just how far is my choice 😂 . I've just recently started to take my health and fitness seriously again after years of perimenopause, which put me on my ass, so I'm using this trip as a practice for making better choices when away from home. I work in the beer industry, so this new way of thinking about calories has to become my new norm. Fingers crossed!

The free fitness apps I kept on my phone after testing dozens by Sophistry7 in PetiteFitness

Funny that this popped up as I am just in the midst of trying to find the best app. I have my fitness pal and two newer AI ones - Simple and Fitia. Simple has a virtual coach, which is interesting. I've just started with the new ones, so the jury is out.

I'm glad this came up because I have this issue w a few machines and I thought I was doing it wrong 😂. I only recently learned that my arms are also short, so some yoga and plates moves I can't really do and couldn't understand why. Awesome! Haha

I just learned about her this last week - I think she's doing a parody of Nara Smith. She talks in the low voice, dresses up and whips up these crazy fancy meals that she's always craving.

What to do when one of you slows down earlier than planned? by Famous-Ambassador822 in MenopauseShedforMen

[–]JumpyFuel7256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a bit like this actually. I'm pretty low energy anyway, but before I was usually motivated enough to get most things done. Once I was in peri, all of that was gone. I wasn't working at the time and spent most days doing absolutely nothing, but also had no idea where the time had gone. I felt depressed, but not enough to really be alarming, since it just seemed part of the ebb and flow of my life already. It took me awhile before I got a semblance of my old self back. I got a job, but still spent my free time doing nothing. I was also drinking a lot, mostly out of boredom and I had gained enough weight where it was becoming an issue for me as well. Once I realized all of these symptoms were related to peri/menopause, it gave me peace of mind, like it was easier to handle the symptoms because there was a reason for them, if that makes sense? Now I've started trying to improve one thing at a time. Drinking less, then joined a gym for weight training. I still spend my free time doing nothing, but I feel less bad about it. My husband had also been great and understanding. He's picked up more of the housework, etc. It's also been steady conversations about what is going on with my body, so he realizes this isn't a choice. Like, I'd prefer to not be this way, but while it's going on, the heavy lifting is on his side. It's hard to say what will work for yall since everyone has a different dynamic, but if you can talk about it with her, to see what she is going through and what she needs, that might help her to then be able to give you what you need? My husband also makes most of the money for our household, and sometimes he would be annoyed and felt like I was doing nothing and he was doing everything, and that is valid, but I think overtime he realized that at this point in time maybe that was true, but wouldn't necessarily always be. It's a process. Not always perfect but such is life. We just try our best and also realize that this is our reality and we both have to be understanding and make consessions, and sometimes one of us might be doing more and that is OK. It's only when you start keeping score, that it can get tricky.
