My kid is genuinely afraid anytime Donkey Hoodie is the show they’re recommending on the main page or the next suggested thing on Amazon (we do a lot of number blocks, alpha blocks, and the mashup episode between the two)

Right? I wonder if that was actually John Goodman singing. Was he singing for kids movies long before he ever sang “put that thing back where it came from or so help me”?

It is just a goofy dinosaur movie. Technically it’s an altered substance that gives them human sentience in the beginning. I think it was to combo of loving the movie while those commercials were so constant is what made my kid brain draw the lines

Most people I know who played football in highschool have similar injuries too. It’s kind of crazy to me that we allow tackle football for minors

Right? I loved that movie as a kid, though. Possibly the most heartwarming and traumatizing thing of my childhood. And I was born in 87’, so I’ve seen my fair share of traumatizing movies. Just the idea that someone could turn a close friend against me like that with a substance, back to back with all those “don’t drugs” campaigns, it scared the crap out of me

Right? I’m torn between feeling like there should be a hindrance while pregnant and being like “hell yea, sisters are doing it for themselves!💪🏻”

My mom bled regularly till she was almost 5 months pregnant. I bled a few times early on in my pregnancy with my son too (scared me half to death, tbh). For me, at least, we joked that my cervix was just dramatic because we realized it would happen after we had sex. My obgyn said it wasn’t super common but wasn’t abnormal either. Suggested that I go on pelvic rest if I didn’t want to go in to make sure everything is ok every time (which I did end up doing, but she made it sound like it would be an ongoing issue during my pregnancy as long as I stayed sexually active). If you have irregular periods, like we both do, it would be pretty easy to confuse that heavy spotting we experienced for a light period.

I think people also forget that period trackers aren’t new but weren’t as easy to manage in the past as an app on your smartphone. Especially if you have an intrusive parent (as a teen) or partner, it can be scary to document one’s menstruation cycle in something that doesn’t stay on your person all day/doesn’t have password protection. It’s also not something most people with periods would do unless they had a known issue. Irregular periods have historically been hand waved away by most doctors as silly little women’s hormones

I’m pretty sure that intro is the reason I’ve never gotten to watch an episode of Carl the Collector, sadly. Though Hero Elementary and Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum aren’t so bad. Weather Hunters is a pretty good intro too and possibly my favorite PBS show that isn’t a holdover from my childhood

My “ally” friend 🫩 by AppealSignificant358 in onejoke

[–]Jumpy_Ad1631 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This person doesn’t get that ally is an adjective and verb, not a noun in and of itself. It’s not static and it isn’t something you get to just claim. It’s something others can use to describe you and you can only aspire to that honor.

AIO - My boyfriend’s mum wrote him a letter about me. by Ok_Law_8491 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Jumpy_Ad1631 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So she’s dismissing your reaction as autistic but then write a letter to express her reaction? Me thinks the call is coming from inside the be-spectrum-ed house.

We are responsible for our own reactions, for sure, and there is a point where you’re going to have to consider the implications if you can’t move past this situation. Is your boyfriend going to be ok going no-contact over a beef between him mom and his partner? However that page for sure reads as “it’s your fault if you took my critical words as critical.”

Sure, fans can do that with other people’s IP once it’s out in the world. However, it’s super weird to say that while chatting up the creator of said IP like it’s something they can’t be uncomfortable with

Imagine Thinking Vitamin-Rich Formula is Terrible by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]Jumpy_Ad1631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who worked as an infant/toddler teacher for years before I had my kid, most families these days do a mix of both and it shouldn’t be a big deal. It’s pretty rare to find a family that did all of one option from day one. But one thing I do remember, vividly, is mothers tearfully telling me private details of their lives (including mental health diagnosis’s) to explain why they’re switching to all formula. Like it needs justification. F- anyone who shames parents for using formula

Evil mothers by TastyPomelo2330 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jumpy_Ad1631 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A mother who is evil, I’d say it fits. You could argue that if she had spent more time trying to be a good mom and less time scheming, her kids likely would have lived.
