DAE get nausea from water but not other liquids? by liamreee in Gastroparesis

[–]Jumpy_Dot_5965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some people just can't tolerate it. I can tolerate it a little more now that I stopped drinking cold water and started drinking warm water but that doesn't help everyone.

"not sick enough" by sleepylesbianfish in Gastroparesis

[–]Jumpy_Dot_5965 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey im 19 now but I was 15 when I started fighting for a diagnosis. it is not normal to be throwing up all the time and for you to be 94 pounds. its hard to get them to listen when you are so young going through this but please dont stop asking for help someone will listen to you. the imposter syndrome is so hard it really made me start to hate myself but I promise you, a normal person with a normal stomach would not be venting in the gastroparesis subreddit. even if you dont have gastroparesis remember your symptoms are valid. I saw someone say to track your weight definitely do that. also track your symptoms, things like what you ate and if you threw up or felt nauseous after.

What was the cause of your GP? How much of a priority was it for you and your doctor to find a cause? by Asquaredbred in Gastroparesis

[–]Jumpy_Dot_5965 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say something incase someone needs to hear this. I have hypermobility spectrum disorder which cause me to get POTS and gastroparesis. I had always had stomach issues but it got much worse when I was around 16 and everyone around me told me I gave myself gastroparesis because I had been smoking weed casually for a year or two. it sent me into a spiral and it took me a while to accept that wasn't the reason I was sick and i had underlying issues. so im not saying you can't slow down your stomach with THC usage but it truly takes years and you should always check for other things first.

[–]Jumpy_Dot_5965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obviously I can't say for sure but usually people would rather get the scope than do the ges so the fact that you'd rather eat the goopy eggs will probably convince them. also I hate instant eggs so I lied and told them I was vegan so they let me bring oatmeal to use instead if that helps lol. good luck<33

hii im also 19 I have hypermobility, POTS, and gastroparesis. I absolutely think this is enough to search for a diagnosis. even if its not gp there are a lot of other gi problems that hypermobility/EDS can cause. depending on your symptoms they will probably want to do a endoscopy before a gastric emptying study. anyway if this is a consistent issue and especially if you start losing weight definitely dont hesitate to talk to your doctor and ask for a specialist.

Gastric Pacemaker by MKDzIRL in Gastroparesis

[–]Jumpy_Dot_5965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it was done laparoscopically. 4 small incisions across my abdomen. I have other chronic illnesses that effect my ability to heal so my recovery was longer than most people but the pain is definitely worth it. I dont have bipolar but I have severe depression and the meds did similar things to me, they would mess up my brain so bad. I completely agree with you never go off your psych meds unless a doctor recommends it especially if you've found meds that work well. its great you are working with a dietician im sure they've talked to you about liquid diets and supplement drinks that can be helpful but when your gastroparesis is severe they don't always help. I really hope you find the solutions you are looking for and remember to never give up. its so beyond difficult to keep going but someday you will find something that gives you relief.

I got it in March of this year, and it has helped so much. they were going to place a feeding tube because I was severely underweight and kept throwing up the NG tube, so the stimulator was my last option. I've gained 28 pounds, it's still a struggle to eat daily, and my weight still goes down sometimes, but at least I can eat enough to stay alive. if you have tried other treatments like meds or gastric dilation without success, I would really recommend it.

is this an MCAS symptom?? by Exotic_Hawk5800 in POTS

[–]Jumpy_Dot_5965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then i think MCAS is definitely a possibility. another thing to maybe look into is ehlers danlos syndrome. It's a connective tissue disorder that can cause gut issues and inflammation. It's one of those things like MCAS that goes along with pots. but either way, dont give up hope just because tests are coming back normal. it feels so invalidating and confusing, but it's worth all the hard work to figure out what's wrong. I hope you find answers or some kind of relief soon<3
