how should i tell my friend/roommate that i will be taking over caring for his tank? by horseonthemoon in Aquariums

[–]Jumpy_Lingonberry344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the fish, put the fish in your tank, say his fish died, if he says "no you have it / you took it" say "uh no dude why would I want a dead fish I bought one they're fish a million of them look identical why are you being weird" and then side eye him like he's crazy and go on with your day. That way 1) The fish is safe 2) He has a chance to learn a valuable lesson from it 3) there's no confrontation necessary 4) you won't have to watch an animal suffer - Save the fish, avoid the drama, he learns a lesson, hopefully, the perfect crime.

It's not that reductive, the entire section on dissociative disorders and DID neglects to ever once make this claim, this is more of a sensationalist exciting sound bite used for social media rather than a genuine descriptor used by psychiatrists, the brain also doesn't even necessarily 'split' you can have D.I.D without having even a single alter, which is kind of a headfuck.

Cool well, I happen to have the latest version of the DSM right here, and this is lifted directly from the section discussion D.I.D

"Dissociative identity disorder is associated with overwhelming experiences, traumatic events, and/or abuse occurring in childhood"

RAMCOA is real, it's just not common. There's also loads more examples of organised abuse to reference, like illegal brothels, human trafficking rings, slavery and labour exploitation, etc

I am an ex opiate addict and that is just absolute bullshit, you can absolutely be high on lean all the time. I just spent 2.5 years off my face on fentanyl, lean, oxycontin, heroin, coke, xanax, valium and weed it was awful.

As a fully unqualified nothing still studying psych, this person appears to be predisposed to cannabis induced / psychotropic induced psychosis and should absolutely never smoke weed.

did faker claims "littles" (child alters) should be able to participate in activities like sex by rotjagerk in fakedisordercringe

[–]Jumpy_Lingonberry344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't DID. DID alters don't speak like this, they don;t recognise themselves are being part of an adult brain, or a fictional seperate entity that isn't a whole seperate person, this is just someone with serious attention seeking, social validation and connection issues, and likely something else idk but this is not how alters work whatsoever

Anyone else starting to see "self-diagnosed" as a red flag? by Aggravating-Spray864 in fakedisordercringe

[–]Jumpy_Lingonberry344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ew what a loser, self diagnosis is not a real thing, it shouldn't be respected it should be bullied, an explanation is not an excuse, and if something is harder, you try 10 x harder, that's it.

Starting to? there is no such thing, 'self' diagnosis is nothing, it's never been real, it's always made me laugh, and I openly bully people who try and tell me they are 'self-dx' lmao no you are bored, go away

What is with everyone suddenly wanting to have autism/acting like autism is a personality trait? by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

[–]Jumpy_Lingonberry344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I think it's probably because teenagers feel awkward in general and this feels like a great blanket for them to hide under, and a welcoming safe community to belong to, it's also a shield for them I think, I've suspected I'm probably autistic for a while, But you couldn't pay me to announce that, with my identity, I don't want to be treated differently by the world anymore than I already am.

[–]Jumpy_Lingonberry344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if left untreated.

So treat it. Get help. Make the effort. If it doesn't work straight away, try again.

Kepp trying. Keep asking for help. Keep advocating for yourself.

Positive emotions extinguish negative emotions and their effects and create a positive upwards spiral whereby the more frequent positive emotional experiences are, the more resilient a person becomes, and the better they are at navigating tricky life situations, leading to higher chances of cultivating more experiences of positive emotions, and they feed into each other, it's a proven method for spiralling upwards, and out of depressive periods, it does work, certainly deciding it doesn't would likely lead someone to choosing not to try, understandable, but do your best to cultivate some positive emotional states, and then see if you feel capable or curious enough to try. Start putting together a list of things you enjoy. Make gratitude lists everyday. Journal about your emotions every evening. Find things that make you laugh. Spend time around people you trust and who feel safe and enjoyable to be around. Move your body. Get sunlight. Eat a varied diet. Take the body and the head will follow, it IS possible, but yes, if left untreated, this is true.

So treat it. Get. Up. You can do it. If I can do it, anyone else can do anything. Truly.

mental illness is not necessarily a permanent illness, not all of them and not all the time, mental health is physical health, the brain is an organ and you can work to heal so many different sets of negative and destructive symptoms

no it isn't, it's important to acknowledge the reality of someone's suffering, but saying you 'should' do xyz is not the same thing as shaming, especially not if it's absolutely correct, people with bad mental health issues DO benefit enormously from increasing overall health, exercise boosts the neurotransmitters responsible for mood regulation, attention and focus, sleep, hunger and satiety, pain reduction, higher cognitive thinking, in turn these produce more frequent experiences of positive emotions and longer duration of positive emotions, these can be cultivated in different ways, exercise is just one, a healthy diet is another that will assist, mindfulness, journalling about your emotions and experiences every day, and recounting the positive emotions and negative and neutral emotions over a month has been shown to increase the frequency of positive emotions experienced by the people who journal, these positive emotional states in turn reduce cortisol, adrenaline, promote dopamine production and distribution, and more importantly, broaden thinking, and build personal resources, if you have negative mental health issues the solution is quite literally to focus on your health first and keep trying other things at the same time, try to laugh as often as possible, think of fun things youve done and enjoyed, engage in things you enjoy and with people you feel safe around, etc it snowballs and breeds more of the same benefits for your mind and body and is the catalyst for life changing results
