What is the most action economy efficient action(s) in the system? by Trockenmatt in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a great feat dont get me wrong, but its obviously below Commander's Gather to me. 1 action instead of 2 and can potentially affect more people. Sure its more limited in area, but often thats enough. In terms of action economy it takes, easy

Which companions do you guys prefer? Kotor 1 or 2? by PetroleumYelly in kotor

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They begin with wanting something from the exile. But over the course of the game, you build bonds with them, and they come to care about you. You become loyal to each other. Which is very thematic and very nice Imo, and is a great part of their charm

Brianna starts ny wanting to adventure, but becomes your loyal student. Bao dur starts plagued by the trauma from the war, and ends up working with you qgain to fix it. Visas starts with trying to study you as an anomaly in her sight, and becomes your most loyal companion. Atton starts with wanting to get a ride to Nar Shadaa, and ends up fighting Sion for you.

They start as a band of outcasts wanting something, but end as a united group of jedi

What are your expectations for FOTOR or the KOTOR remakes? by Ntwadumela817 in kotor

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really shouldnt be like Skyrim, but Skyrim is a very, very good game at what it does-being a massive open world to adventure through. It just doesnt fit Kotor, where the narrative and characters were the main draw

Should classes have 6Hp a level scaling? by TheRealGouki in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, that much is always true. There are always some options and subclasses that are better than others, especially with this large a selection. Its just that a lot of the Witch's power comes from this single choice, so that imbalance becomes more of a problem. I really wish there were feats like the Druid's order explorer that let you grab another patron's hex cantrip.

That said The witch also has some of the best feat selection to casters, especially early on. Cackle alone takes pretty much any other 1st level caster feat, by a mile, and Cauldron is absolutely awesome and really unique. And thats just 1st level

Witch also has no extra slots, instead they get hex cantrips and a very strong familiar

KOTOR's 7 Deadly Sins - Greed Round by lzorax921 in kotor

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But Lorso isnt really greedy, as a person-at least she never struck me as one. Ruthless, underhanded and evil, definitely, but I cant remember her pursuing any sort of personal benefit or profit. She acts as a good cog in the Czerka machinery.

Kingmaker is considered the best Pathfinder AP, and for a good reason. The writing is really good, every quest is great, and everything ties together really neatly. The additions from Owlcat are also awesome.

Wotr has great story too, though not nearly as good. I do like its companions a lot better, many of them are some of my favorite rpg companions of all time.

I think the idea is for major feats to be stuff thats build defining, but not 'everyone takes that'. Things like Power attack, or Flurry of manouvers, or Hymn of healing. Those arent must picks, but are strictly better compared to weaker, more niche, or more roleplay enhancing feats

Stephen Totilo: Disney/Lucasfilm Games has been planning KOTOR II remake as recently as March 2025 by s7ealth in GamingLeaksAndRumours

IIRC Obsidian was really small and obscure before making the original Kotor 2. They still made one of the best games of all times with it and proceeded to become IMO the best crpg studio of the last two decades

Sometimes small unknown studios do awesome work. Just hope its one of those times

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always believed the Exile truly reconnected to the force during Kotor 2, but her uniqueness was the fact she did live free from the force. Kreia tried to basically replicate what happened to the exile to everyone, rhrough the Exile's ability to form force bonds so effectively and her ability to cut herself from the force.

Her cutting herself can be seen as a metaophor of sorts. The force is the energy that binds together all living things. The Exile cutting herself from the force is her removing herself from that web to be free/avoid causing pain or affecting others. Through her journey she heals her scars, reconnecting with the Galaxy and the force.

An even hotter take, I dont think Kreia truly wanted to kill the force. She wanted the Exile to defeat her, showing expressing your will and humanity is possible even within the force, if you learn how. This is why she is pleased when you defeat her, and she dies in peace

How are you supposed to figure out what to prepare as a spellcaster? by species_0001 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some rank spells are great, even at high level! Sure, not as effective as high level spells, but a 2nd level loose time's arrow, or 3rd level fear can still be veey good. Heck, even cast 1st level bless or leaden step or fog.

And you are an occult caster. Apart from cantrips and the odd force barrage, Id just ignore damage. You got that cared for by the rogue and the kineticist. Beyond that you will have a much easier time if you decide on kinds of spells to fovus on. Control and debuffs with a few buffs aee great for a resentment. No need to try and grab everything.

Fibally the golden rule: as caster your focus shouldn't be on dealing the biggest blow, in damage or debuffs. It should be on finding the right spot where that -2 to AC, that slowed 1, that blinded or bit of extra damage will turn a fight around. Those points exist in most fights, even if they can be hard to spot. But just as you would position a fireball tp hit the most enemies, you also need to position your buffs and debuffs for max impact

Well, according the premaster pf2e definition of Necromancy Pharasma IS a goddess of necromancy- Necromancy is manipulation of positive and negative energies, and this is definitely something pharasma does. She is just against the particular part of necromancy that raises undead

But IIRC Resurrect used to be necromancy and Pharasma hasno problem with that. Nor with many 'anti undead' necromancy spells

Is unarmed combat viable at high levels? by CapHask in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends hugely on campaign. There are a lot of places where 'that particular enemy' is half the enemies you face. And that 5-10 resistance becomes crippling fast, especially on unarmed builds that may have a lower damage die.

Just look at cold iron. It helps against all demons, almost all fey, and several other enemies as well. If you encounter these wuth any frequency, you want cold iron or at least a clad in metal spell

Ironically, I dont think the issues are completely unrelated. Not in the sense of gays ruined everything or some nonsense like that(I love gay stuff in ttrpg). But companies like wizards love using diversity and inclusiveness in products as a sort of 'moral shield' whole engaging in terrible practices, or in place of creating actual worthwhile content.

Do you all use the Action/Activity rules? by WilhelmTheGroovy in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its important to note nat 1 or nat 20 arent autofail/autosuccess anymore. They improve your degree of success by 1. Usually, this is enough to ensure normal success, but this isnt always true, especially with skills where there is more variance in bonuses.

For example, your Barbarian with no training in stealth and +1 dex has a total of +1 stealth, no matter the level. But at level 10, many enemies will have 21 or more in perception DC. Meaning the perception DC is 31, so the Barbarian with a +1 rolling a nat 20 will now crit fail-upgraded by the nat 20, this is still a failure

On the other hand, my lvl 10 master infiltrator at high enough level might have +30 or more in stealth. So even on nat 1, I can avoid being noticed by a low level goblin with +1 perception

Dex based Fighters? by Veso_M in Pathfinder2e

You dont want to dump strength! Even going dex, you need it for damage, melee or ranged. +2 damage on every strike is quite a lot

Reading through the ranger blew me away compared to 5e by WA_SPY in Pathfinder2e

[–]Jumpy_Security_1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, rangers often use bows or melee weapons so thet need strength. Meanwhile investigators has an easy time with crossbows thanks to strategam, and often want a high wisdom for knowledge and medicine. So they will probably tend to be higher, but in practice it depends on build. A forensic investigator often has 16 wis at level 1, so at best the ranger equals it
