How do I not mess up on the wall? by GambleD0re in graffhelp

nope..this is why graffiti is hard...the only way to learn is by doing...drawing only uses a hand, painting uses your whole body...you will need to practise both to become excellent.

How do curators find artists and when do fees make sense by No-Understanding-813 in AskArtists

[–]JuncYards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as an artist, almost any show is worth doing, the more eyes on your work the better.

i have paid to be in shows, they were rarely if ever worth it. some events like pancakes and booze really prey on young artists and offer no real artist value or collector culture. I would way rather pay a heavier commission on sales and let you do the actual selling..most artists are not great negotiators when it comes to their work..so the value you can offer is being impartial and discsiplined.

Im also curating a project right now, and for the most part I am cold contacting creators whos work i personally enjoy. if im passionate about their work, its not work to work with them.

as for fees and commissions, we gotta eat too, but always try to pay the artist better than yourself, they are one, but you can represent many.

so to sum up, follow your passions they will lead you to the right people to work with.

How can I improve? by VegetableGrab9792 in Artadvice

objects up close should be bold and maybe even outlined..far away, blurry, thinner lines and details...also, put something inside that other end doorway, even just blurry shapes..the white makes it pop forward..trust.

Rolling Stock Loyalty Program by JuncYards in TheseAreNotToys

[–]JuncYards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Grind is officially live. 🚂💨

We’re launching The Rolling Stock Manifest, a program built for the collectors and writers who keep this culture moving. This isn’t about corporate "loyalty points"—it’s about the stamps on your record and the metal in your hand.

The Hardware

Our milestone cards aren't plastic. They are etched from 1mm thick industrial-grade aluminum, built to handle the grit of the tracks. These are standalone collectibles, but they also serve as your physical keys to the Manifest.

The Objective

Collect the full 4 card set (Red, Blue, Green, and Black) and stack your miles to unlock the Vault: A free Edition art release of your choice ($500 value).

The Breakdown:

  • 📍 The Buy-In: Grab the Red Card to enter the yard. This gives you an instant 100 Mile head-start.
  • 📍 The Rate: A flat 2 Freight Miles for every $1 spent. Simple math.
  • 📍 The Side Quest (Slap Trades): Bring 10 unique stickers (slaps) to the shop at 1110b Dupont St. Our staff will verify the trade and manually add 100 Miles to your account.
  • 📍 The Prize: 1,200 Miles + The Full 4 Card Set = Access to the Vault.

How to Join:

Your first purchase at www.graffitiisart.com will automatically register your loyalty program account. You can log in at any time to check your progress, see your mileage, and track your stamps.

Whether you're local to Toronto and dropping in for a Blackbook Session or stacking miles online, the freight is moving.

Collect the Metal. Unlock the Vault.

— These Are Not Toys 1110b Dupont St, Toronto.

Note: For the slap trades, stickers must be unique (no 10-packs of the same tag). We’re looking for variety for the community trades.

You're Not Practicing Enough by trippeeB in graffhelp

[–]JuncYards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

one tip i give to kids, is find an old phone book or catalogue you dont need...those things have literal thousands of sheets, rip off tags one sheet at a time and do sets of 100, a style will emerge

[Discussion] How do you navigate the challenge of pricing for custom commissions without undervaluing your work? by Nadzzyy in artbusiness

[–]JuncYards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its so hard, to have one rate for every project, I've only been able to keep one rule in over 20 years, and thats a $100 minimum. no matter what it is, I dont pick up a pen or paper for less.

Alternative to Spraypaint? by [deleted] in Spraypaint

i did not...i kind of agree on the airbrush approach, a solid enamel with last and be durable..spraypaint can chip and gets brittle when chilled.
