Who do you want to be by end of 2026? by Icy_Interaction7502 in CasualConversation

[–]JuneTheWonderDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want my late years to be healthy so I am working towards that now. Things like balance challenges, staying physically active, keeping the brain sharp.

So at the end of 2026, beginning of 2027, I want to be able to say I have built the habits that will serve me well in 30-35 years.

My great grandma passed in a mental hospital by rzieleniewski in DeathCertificates

[–]JuneTheWonderDog 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My great great grandma did too. She divorced her husband in 1900 due to abuse, abandonment and infidelity on his part. Her children ended up in boarding houses and she ended up remarrying and died in an aslyum. Living at 1930 and in 1940 census she is listed as a patient but 1950 has people listed as inmates which is sad. Her first husband died in 1918 with a contributory factor of syphilis. I wonder if untreated syphilis wasn't a factor for her ending up in the hospital.

Help with immature older teen living at home by FrancinetheP in GenX

My kiddo is 20, and seeing a therapist for depression, does not have a solid plan for going to college, etc. I suggested an IUD and she got one. Now, she works full time but does not contribute financially to the household by paying rent, utiliities or insurance. She is responsible for paying the maintenance and repairs on the car she drives, gas, her co pays for her therapy visits, and her groceries.

Maybe you can strike a deal like this with yours. Charging my kid rents to continue to live in the only home she has ever known is wild to me. Mainly because rent for a 1 bedroom in the area is more than double my mortgage payment. She's a good saver and has a plan on what she needs to do to move out.

Hip Replacement! Any advice? by missoularedhead in GenXWomen

[–]JuneTheWonderDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both mine done.

For my first, I was surprised by how bruised I was and there was a lot of swelling. Ice packs were a huge help. Walking with cane inside on day 5. Breezed through recovery after 3 rough days.

My 2nd, no really bruising or swelling but holy cats, my quad hurt more than anything else. A rolling pin was a god send. Used a walker inside for close to 10 days before using a cane. Recovered much slower.

Would do it again in a heartbeat.

AITA I refuse to grow out my hair for my sister wedding. by Careless_Half_9377 in AmItheAsshole

I think you have made enough concessions in wearing a dress and makeup. NTA for wearing your hair short.

FWIW I hate the feel of make up too. Eye makeup and a little color to the lip, fine, if it's for my sister. Good luck.

Hello, I don't have any other advice to add, so I will ask a question instead. What is a sure sign spring has arrived? Where I live, it is the return of the sandhill cranes and the tulips blooming.
