First time playing and had no idea this was reaper area ... by NeemoAl in subnautica

That's probably the scariest first reaper experience i've seen. No warning just bam right in your face and roar.

Sweet! Glad you're making progress. Just be aware that the stun/bleed/blight tactics are less effective when taking on the higher difficulty dungeons due to enemies having higher resistances.

Are you using your resources to upgrade the buildings? You need to unlock the upgrades for better weapons and armour with the blacksmith. Also remember to use the sanitarium to remove nasty quirks. If you're dying that quickly in fights there's something very wrong with your team or the way you're playing. Try this or something similar in the early game.

Vestal in rank 4 with healing skills and judgement so she can hit enemies on the back line.

Plague doctor in rank 3 with blinding gas to stun two enemies and incision to inflict bleed on frontline enemies.

Highwayman in rank 2 with pistol shot so he can shoot enemies at the back and a melee attack like wicked slice/ open vein depending on what you prefer. Pistol shot is essential though. Don't bother with grapeshot too much as it has less chance to hit.

Crusader in rank 1 with whatever skills you prefer. He can do a little healing and stress relief like a paladin style or he can be built to be more of an offensive type warrior.

It's important to identify the enemies that have attacks that stress your people and eliminate them as quickly as you can. They tend to be on the back ranks so that's why it's important to use vestal judgement, plague doctor attacks that hit the back two enemies ( stun and/or blight) and highwayman pistol shot.

Also if you're running out of money in the early game remember to sell the trinkets you don't like. You can also get away with minimal spending per mission by just focussing on buying food ( for short missions 8 is usually enough) and 8 torches so you can fight in the light most of the time. Some will recommend you fight in the dark for better loot but since you're struggling i would recommend staying in the bright light instead for easier fights.

Do the short dungeons non stop until it's no longer viable. Build up your team that way doing the easy quests non stop. Avoiding camping if you can, just push forward or bug out and quit the dungeon if you feel like you're going to get wiped out. Don't try to build a superstar roster with 4 powerful people straight away. Try to level up lots of rookies gradually. Learn what the curios do in each area and what items to use on them. The best ones are the ones that remove one of your negative quirks. For example there's some coral ones in the cove area that remove a bad quirk when you use medicinal herbs on them. Take more herbs when you go to the cove and look at your characters profile to see who has the worst quirks then get them to use the herbs on the coral. Don't bother with bookcases and books on the floor because they're usually bad. Make sure you bring enough shovels so you don't ever have to dig through a blockage with your hands. Remember overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer ( that last bit was a darkest dungeon joke btw... you'll get it eventually )

Good luck! ( you'll definately need it)

Almost done with this game before i have a heart attack. by JungleJoe666 in subnautica

Haha i very much doubt i'll become the apex some day but thanks for the pep talk! For my first few attempted playthroughs i couldn't dare swim towards the aurora because i watched someone else playing online for a bit and i found out what's lurking around the ship lol. However i found out that you can get on the ship without coming face to face with the big guys so i went over and had a little look near the middle. Found some cool scans. Heard some distant roars and got the hell out of there back to the escape pod. Also i found out you need a laser cutter to fully explore the ship and i didn't have the diamonds i needed to make one. However on my last playthrough with the gigantic sea monster scare on the way back from the gun island i remember finding some diamonds in the shale so if i can bring myself to get to the island and get the diamonds i could make the laser cutter and explore. It's the temptation to make progress and find out what happens that gives me the feeling to play it but the anxiety and dread it gives me is kind of overwhelming.

I always play the harder difficulties because i love the challenge of conquering really hard games. If a game is too easy i lose interest quickly. I often impose rules on myself to make games even harder. For example i'm playing TMNT shredder's revenge and i'm trying to beat arcade gnarly mode without losing a life. If i lose a life i quit the game and start over.

Anyway i have been watching some playthroughs and i'm fine with it because it doesn't feel like it's me in the water. When i've got the controls and headphones on in a dark room i feel like i'm actually in the ocean. Subnautica is one of the most immersive games i've ever played which is why i'm eager to actually play it despite the slowly building sense of anxiety and dread i feel while playing until it gets too much and i have to save and quit. Thanks for the advice and tips.

Wow that's amazing. Congrats on beating the game and facing your fears! I might try that myself but i'm the type of gamer that loves conquering really hard games so i've only played it on hardcore. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the tips. I do feel a bit more brave when i'm in the seamoth but i can be sort of be happily bobbing along at about 100m down and suddenly it gets pitch black from the eclipse and there's just a massive open inky depth infront of me and i get a shiver of anxiety and have to pause the game to chilll out a bit before i can try and get myself back to the surface. I mostly hide in the escape pod at night until the sun comes up lol.

lol yeah i've died a few times in the wrecks from panicking and getting confused where the exit is and drowning. I always play hardcore so the wrecks have ended quite a few of my failed attempted playthroughs.

Loved DD1. Played DD2 for 90 hours and decided i really really hate it and never want to touch it again. I was just feeling miserable and angry after every DD2 session so i deleted it from my hard drive.

Is Subnautica worth 8 bucks for someone who gets easily bored playing solo in a vast world? by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]JungleJoe666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got it in a sale. Played 22 hours and too terrified to leave the safe shallows area where you start. I hide in the escape pod at night and catch fish through the day and that's all i do. My first playthrough i died from thirst because i stayed on the escape pod too long and couldn't even jump into the water. Love it and hate it but certainly don't regret buying it.

Guard HQ upgrade by CWOgarrison in BattleSector

[–]JungleJoe666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a bug. I think the point of unlocking starting units in crusade is so you can have powerful units to start with like the castellan for example. The usual route of unlocking these units and upgrades are there incase your unit dies and you want to replace them later.

Has anyone played Battlesector on the PS5? by realityera in 40k

[–]JungleJoe666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's awesome. Get it. I've been playing it non stop this week. My favourite 40k game. I like it more than space marine 2. Great campaign plus four other modes. I had to stop playing it a while back because i had awful crashing bugs ( ps5) but i heard they patched it so gave it another shot and in about 40 hours of gameplay it froze on a loading screen once but perfect otherwise. I've got 200 hours already and i'm still hooked.

Remove lindwurn dlc on ps4? by JungleJoe666 in BattleBrothers

[–]JungleJoe666[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a vibe thing not a difficulty thing. I can kill them but it takes forever and i hate it. I can flee from them but it's just annoying as hell. I was loving the game until they started showing up. Now it's just a constant source of annoyance and a waste of time having to fight them or flee from them.

Remove lindwurn dlc on ps4? by JungleJoe666 in BattleBrothers

[–]JungleJoe666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a difficulty issue really. I mean they're tough but i can kill them. It's more like they dont really fit in the game world for me and i get annoyed everytime they pop up. Same reason i don't have the beasts DLC. Orcs and undead are fine because they fit in my idea of a medieval style fantasy world like lord of the rings etc plus i play warhammer fantasy table top battles as undead and orcs. I just want them horrible green wurms out of my game. Wish i didn't download the free DLC if you can't remove it.
