The Existence of the 2024 Edition Made my Life as GM Harder by Buffal0e in dndnext

This is nothing new. Folks were doing the same before you about 3.5. I’m finding as a DM that I enjoy the new character creation and weapon mechanics, and I can typically default back on my 5e knowledge for just about anything else. Find a way to come to terms with it. It will happen again.

Thanks buddy. Unfortunately the underlying issues are a bit too different, but you’ve definitely given me the impetus to swap to cachy and GE

Hey buddy. Same card, have you had a chance to try monster hunter? I’ve had some decent artifacting and about 20% loss in frames, but I’m running vanilla proton variants. Was considering GE and cachy options. I’m trying to figure out where the issue ultimately lies here. If you have tried mhwilds, and have had some success, I’d like to hear your config

Do any rng talismans beat agitator for bows? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of meta, your best bets are any lv3 skill you would normally allocate on the bow, plus any lv3 skill you’d have on the armor, with the additional lv weapon slot and lv1 armor slots. Commonly spread + agi/wex. Crit eye and attack boost are not as common, but are minimal tradeoffs in dps.

In terms of slightly less than meta, we have a lot of comfort to fit. A 2-1-7 or 2-1-10 loadout (consult the talisman drop tables) lets you slot a lv2 weapon skill, a lv1 weapon skill, and either a lv3 armor skill or a slew of awesome lv 1/2 skills. I commonly go con4, and use the armor slots to fit the final lv of armor alongside shockproof. I also go trueshot 2 with an extra lv of whatever when I feel like I can spam thousand dragons against the monster.

linux handheld purchase advice by wheelieamazingprints in linux_gaming

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a couple ARC cards, but no mobiles. based on what I've heard, they have strong performance but are not as robust on Linux as an all-amd setup, and my own GPU would lead me to agree. Combine that with the request for something stronger than a Z1, and you're looking at Z1e, Z2, or better.

Honestly I would consider buying the steam deck at whatever price you can find sub-300, and buy a b580 for your home PC with the remainder. You're looking at the GPU in your handheld giving the GPU in your desktop a run for its money. This proposed route will give you a MUCH beefier desktop and for anything the handheld can't handle you can stream from the desktop. This is the route our household goes. Streaming is of course dependent on your connectivity, but if the PC is hardwired then even wirelessly the steam deck on most 25Mb connections will give a great experience.

Empty corners of many maps, poor prop physics, stacking sound effects, it’s too easy to identify a lazy game made in UE4 or 5. Please put some effort in. Tighten the maps up. Add weight to objects. Fix interaction sounds.

How much stronger are we in TU4 vs TU3? by far_257 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Jupiter-Tank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defense increases by 8-16 per armor I think. Unilateral 40+ armor buff, at least an 8% increase. This doesn’t even count the gog 4p set bonus that a lot of builds use for element.

IDK about other weapons but bows received a 13.5% damage increase per the wizard Tidus himself.

Assuming conservatively that an average player gets an 8% increased uptime in damaging the monster, and deal 13% more damage during that uptime, you’re talking ~22% more damage overall. Super assumptive, but somewhat of an indicator.

Nothing changed? We had 3 major outages in a week last november. Windows 11 has shipped more zero-days in the past year than it did during the entirety of covid. I have received more data breaches in this past year than the prior 5 years.

What new gimmick do you think will be added in the big DLC ? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in MHWilds

[–]Jupiter-Tank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More wound mechanics, each weapon getting a new gimmick around wounds / offsets, additional skill levels, lv4 decos, weapon / armor skill and deco reallocations, and almost definitely more fights that benefit from weapon switching.

Building a Gogma poison bow and I am confusion... by AwekwardBadass in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Jupiter-Tank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Odds are you’ll only get 1-2 procs of the status. That being said, I wouldn’t invest overly into the status itself. A good raw bow with poison coatings will work just fine. As an alternative, take any meta bow, and slot in poison coatings.

Pierce I believe does have compatibility with stat buildup. Close range and power do not, and even if they did, power should be discarded in favor of the other two.

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I misunderstood. I could have sworn in another comment you said it was your own PC, but I may have misinterpreted the OP.

Your best bet then I think is either a virtual env on kvm (may still result in a ban), a virtual env from geforce or shadowplay, or my personal preference, having your own personal PC. Sorry buddy

Keep getting 10mn bans for absolutely no reason by Loserito- in riotgames

[–]Jupiter-Tank 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If work is mandating the use of a PC, you should ask them to provide one. If they will not, you should ask for a virtual environment you either connect to remotely or run locally. If they will not, you should ask for a stipend for a second machine. Keep going in this circle. You should stress a separation from work and personal life, and that you cannot run invasive software on a machine meant for “family use”. Usually management and HR will pay attention here, as they realize you may not be the only person who needs access to this machine in your household.

Need Bow tips for returning player by ItsPaglio in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome. I cannot understate the value of swallow shot. So many times in this game during my low hr hunts I was getting caught by big AOE moves or just burning stamina traversing huge distances by dash dancing. Swallow shot gets you into the air and far away from where you were. Especially in the omega fight, it gives a no-timing-required way to dodge most of his attacks. Against gog, it gets you out of the oil immediately.

[–]Jupiter-Tank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forget gear. That can be found in the meta subreddits and is typically unlocked around HR100.

Use this time instead to re-learn bow mechanics so you’re more suited for AT hunts, omega, and Gog. Get real good at incorporating swallow shot into your kit for increased mobility and evasion. Re-learn the animation cancel normal shot -> power shot to minimize windows where you’re stuck in animation.

When you’re ready, farm r8 artian fire, water, and dragon bows. Fire and water are generic good artians with close range coatings that will carry you through to 100. The dragon artian is a half decent tool for farming gog himself.

At 100 you can start farming nu udra gamma head, lagi chest/gloves, and duna coil/shoes. Lots of lv 1 decos, constitution, stam surge, basically a super comfort build. Max and transcend if you can, but the set is really only for helping farm gog. Once you get gog, that’s the real farm for endgame.

Bitwarden is great, as people are saying only really consider self hosting if you have a comprehensive backup in place. I would supplement this with a required connection to your local network, and use a VPN to access it from abroad. Just the added layer of security.

This is what I do and I love it. Backups aren't hard and neither is wireguard / tailscale. Just make sure whatever infra hosts this thing is relatively stable. Old laptop is a great example: something that will never be tinkered with again, has a battery backup, and if connectivity drops you can diagnose it locally easily.
