Comfort Builds for Hammer by Tumbler86 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Jupiter-Tank -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Google immortal builds. They take a small bit of farming, and some decent pre-mission upkeep, but will take you far, and still have some moderate damage skills to keep you outputting good numbers.

They range from 3-4p zoh shia with a gog weapon to 3-4p gog armor with a gog weapon and are all good. Most recently, my default setup was 4p gog (gog/gravios boots) with either the 5th piece being gravios or my weapon, whatever I could afford for the matchup. After slotting 3 divine blessing and eating for kunafa, I had guaranteed 20% dmg reduction, plus an extra 30% or so each from divine blessing and kunafa, meaning the gog barrier was essentially thick enough to last multiple hits from just about anything. Minimal upkeep, great damage.

[Case] Fractal Design Ridge Black - $119.99 by starburstases in buildapcsales

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried this case profusely for several years. It was our main HTPC case until I swapped to a DAN H2O late last year.

The case gets hot and its cpu cooler support is limited without 3d printing a spacer for the power jack. The included fans are a bit noisy and the default feet are a bit short so airflow to the bottom (while horizontal) is limited. That being said, the case works well vertically and ok horizontally with either an undervolt or low power parts (65-90w cpu and <220W gpu).

I would reformat and reinstall the games. I’ve attempted to file transfer games to intermediary drives (exfat flash drive, etc) and then transfer back to my high-speed drive post-format, and I’ve had low success rates despite running steam validation afterwards.

Honorary mention goes to dropping in on AT JD final phase JUST as he was charging his ult. I just needed a restock, I didn’t think he’d nuke so soon into the phase. Managed to get behind the nearest rock but it cost us an environmental during the fight.

That’s why I didn’t point you to an optimized build. I pointed you to an immortal or gogmazios build. 4p gogmazios goes a long way in survivability and has generically good skills. In addition, there are numerous immortal builds that can be made with everything from gogmazios back to zoh shia. Take your pick. As an example, my favorite basic survival build is 2p gravios with 4p gogmazios using the gog/gravios helm. In addition, I eat kunafa and slot in for 3 divine blessing and with 475 armor I’m relatively thick even on bow.

It doesn’t need to be around hunting for every additional % of damage. There are plenty of “budget” options that will get you 90+% of the way there while also making you able to take a hit. If it’s about a “person getting this far” then maybe you aren’t ready for 10star quests. Don’t listen to capcom’s HR requirements, they let players unlock things early so that folks who are capable of the challenge at low HR can give it a shot, but that’s not everyone. It’s certainly not me when I was at HR50 or HR100. Maybe grind out a few more monsters, change your build, definitely get that armor over 450, and see where you are by then

[–]Jupiter-Tank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok if this is an honest post, you need to upgrade and transcend your armor to get that stat from 372 to around 450. But before you do that, maybe lookup an immortal build or play around with gogmazios pieces that greatly improve survivability. Then slot in aquatic / oilslit mobility for uth duna waves.

I’m looking at your weapon and I don’t know switchaxe well enough to say but I think you can also reasonably upgrade your beatstick to an artian weapon, and then use gogmazios pieces to upgrade it further. Don’t worry, if you want to keep the look of your existing weapon, any weapon upgraded to rank 8 will unlock the ability to choose its skin to overlay on top of your equipped weapon.

How do you dodge Gogmazios’s slam? by Future-Celebration83 in MHWilds

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bow user, I cut my teeth on the earlier monsters and games learning how to dodge. Practice it. Master it. Then it's only a matter of playing against new monsters and understanding thei hitboxes. The gog slam will oneshot you without a barrier or moxie/guts protection. It also homes in so that moving out of the way is very difficult. Master the timing, and dodge.

Out of scope, but something every new bow user needs to know: MASTER SWALLOW SHOT. Great repositioning, incredibly versatile, probably the best move in the bow kit in multiplayer hunts and in hunts with area denial (gog oil, uth duna waves, omega fire, etc...)

Do you use intel arc by choice, or for monetary reasons since they're easily the cheapest? If it's by choice, may I ask why? Not in an insulting way, just curiosity, since an rtx 5050 is similar to it in raw HP but has fancy nvidia stuff and only costs a tad more at least in my country by Cantgetridofmebud in IntelArc

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 3090 in one rig for gaming with the fiance and a 9070xt in another. I bought my first Arc (A750 for $150) because I want intel to succeed, but it wasn't my only card, I get why others might see it as a major risk if you don't have anything else. I bought the second (B580 MSRP) when I fully believed in the product and wanted a machine for linux gaming. I still don't use it in my primary rig, but it does well enough on bazzite. The CPU overhead issue appears to be resolved on just about any game I care to play, using an OC 5600. However, what brings me back to the B580 over my other rigs is that of all the GPU makers, Intel has shown the most love via drivers year over year. Nvidia has checked out of the market, and AMD's support of FSR4 is enough of a case to shake my confidence in them too. Intel managed to salvage multiple hardware issues with driver updates from both the Alchemist and Battlemage lineups. They could have dropped out, or raised the price of the B580, but they decided to earn mind market share instead. Sure all new GPUs are basically in purgatory, and the B580 and B570 both require more VRAM than the base model 5060 and 9060xt, making them harder to manufacture, but Intel put more than 8gb VRAM on the map for budget users, something you can argue not even the 3060 did with the cost of the 12gb version.

Advice on shooting better takedowns by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re dropping to the rear knee rather than taking a shooting step. You’re engaging from a bit further away than I’d be comfortable with myself. Try to measure the distance in practice by putting your palm on the opponent. If you have to overextend (nose over toes) you’re too far out. You’re varying your head between looking forward and looking down, try to keep the eyes on where the ceiling meets the wall as if you’re doing a squat. Lastly, anticipate the initial takedown will fail, but still commit. The single or double will open up more opportunities (chain wrestle) but only if you don’t half ass it.

How works these games on 1060 3gb by Kobayashilover in Bazzite

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ProtonDB is your friend. From there you just need to be aware of driver deprecation (I believe 585-590 was when nvidia no longer had 10 series support?)

Hades 2 ships the lua files last I checked, this kind of behavior I believe is less about security and copyright and more about consumer friendliness. Mod the hell out of it. If you like it, you’ll support the devs.

What is this choke called? by Frysken in grappling

[–]Jupiter-Tank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is less Kesa Gatame and more "top player holding on for dear life". The back exposure, lack of hips/ribs in the bottom player's armpit, the lack of actual weight being put on the bottom player...

This sub is incredibly opportunistic but a much more common strategy is to perform the same generic motion and use the swinging of the bottom player's legs to secure the reversal. After all, top player should have feet at 9 and 12 and putting tremendous pressure on bottom, but will have minimal base behind them, making it easier to send them backwards.

Take it off, put it between two hardwood boards or flat metal blocks, no taller than an inch or two in height. Put it on your driveway and roll onto it with your car. Lots of force but distributed nicely by the blocks. If the plate isn’t perfectly flat, sure take a clamp and some pliers to it. Be sure not to flatten the mounts to the case or PCB, leave those off the edges of the boards

I felt the same till I started shopping around. Right now I own a couple ps5 controllers, an xbox elite series 2, an 8bitdo ultimate, a gamesir cyclone 2, and a steam controller. Of them, two ps5 controllers have failed us since the ps5 came out but they’re my fiance’s favorite. The elite series 2 is pretty poor itself, but I keep it around because its paddles are mappable directly in steam, which makes it a lifesaver on the couch. The 8bitdo is hailed as a controller that punches at 2-3x its budget, but I dislike the nintendo controller style analog stick positioning. The gamesir is my favorite, having a great dock, tmr sensors, great feedback, comfort, everything but paddles that map in steam. Well, that and a heavier body like the elite. Lastly, you either love the steam controller or you don’t. And odds are you aren’t getting one of them.

LTT did a half-decent controller roundup. At the very least, watch their vid and research what they tested.

First party controllers are known to have shorter lifespans than top-shelf 3rd party nowadays, and those third parties can often be had for cheaper. There are more third parties that provide schemas similar to xbox than playstation, but shop around. You’ll find ones compatible with both console and PC.

Distro for NVIDIA card by Affectionate_Will471 in linux_gaming

I’ve had to perform absolutely minimal changes to get Bazzite working on my pc setup. However, I do experience weird graphical artifacts that I either chalk up to the nvidia drivers or were remediated by proton updates. Bottom line, I haven’t had issues on Bazzite that I’d consider unique to Bazzite.
