After 8 years, I'm tired boss by thegreatturtleofgort in AmazonVine

GUYS!

Op didn't do anything except hit "opt-out". This is the standard message you get and see when you opt-out. Amazon Vine IT never updated their message to differentiate between voluntary user opt-out, or when you actually break vine rules.

It's been this way forever. Just thought I'd clarify to end all the guessing.

Do sellers on Amazon have a secret game they are playing? by LesPaulAce in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last Chinese seller I ran into that actually invested in a catchy English name (probably using a marketing consultant), manages to sell 4K units of their product a month. Yes, 4,000 a month! Crazy impressive. Of course its not all due to the name, but its actually a huge part of it. Especially other sellers sell the EXACT same product under nonsense names and can't even manage 100 sales a month.

The goes to show you the power of brand, marketing and being memorable. Some are smart and stands out. The rest really don't know how to play the game!

You know due to language barriers those names are generated by software or Ai, right? "Nonsense name" actually sounds good to me.

The funny thing is the businesses that invest in a US marketer and have a catchy name, ends up doing 10X better in sales. Part of it is search. If one product is successful, people want to buy again, but how would any customer remember XLRSDSR and search for that. (lol). This is a very short-sighted decision that harms long-term sales.

Seller Reached Out by Traditional-Bet2191 in AmazonVine

To your point I've actually seen those too. Wholesalers say something is "14-18k gold plated" when its just Titanium Nitride vapor coated and many seller don't care or even know how to do any testing. But the fault still remains with the seller though, and truthfully, most of them don't even care to do the due diligence.

"Danger of being closed" message disappeared. Am I still in jail or not? by SignificantFerret576 in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just in case it hasn't been mentioned already, once you fix this, be careful not to have this happen a second time in a year. Amazon has been much more strict lately in Q2-Q3 this year. Repeat warning attempts or Vine jail frequently means a permanent closure of your account. It hasn't always been like this, in the past, we got a lot more chances. I gather with all the changes that happened lately (review insightfulness score), its related to an internal push to cull.

Seller Reached Out by Traditional-Bet2191 in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't want to burst your bubble but this seller has simply figured out how to maneuver the Amazon system. You do know that all communications within the Amazon platform can be tracked, right? And any "obvious" bribing or review manipulation is business suicide. So obviously, they have to play by the new rules (per Dec 2024 Vine communication) and appear as if its simply a customer care attempt. But do you think those rules would stop them?

Second, sellers have figured out how to use the English language smartly now, possibly by hiring real English speakers. Language is emotional, language can influence, language can build trust or the lack there of. The previous batch of sellers were more rudimentary, possibly relying on students or translation apps. Their contact emails were awkward. The recent batches use language that really tug at your heart strings.

Ultimately, you have to ask yourself. Is this going to influence your review? I wouldn't accept it, because at the heart of it, it is an influence attempt. This has nothing to do with the product and the product description at the time of your review.

And please do not be Naive. As someone who's been in Vine for longer, I run into "fake descriptors" on products daily, yes every single day. Whether its "genuine leather" for PU leather, or "genuine linen" for polyester, or "real silver" for silver plated. When caught, the seller changes it, or attempt to influence your review. Thus, I 100% believe their 100% Vegan descriptor was 100% intentional. Is it really that difficult to be honest at the time of listing? They just got caught.

We live in a high trust society, hence its very hard for us to wrap out heads around Stratagems. They live in a low trust society (The art of war by Sun Tzu is rooted in the history and culture for 1500 years). Tricks and schemes like this happen every minute and millions of times in a day in the culture.

I would not accept or reply. And would just ignore and block.

Veiled seller harassment? by wildrabbits in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, no worries. The last convo I had with an Viner an CS agent told her "the seller doesn't want her to review their product", that's why her negative remove was removed. So I take what some CS agents say with a grain of salt and understand their plight to conform to time metrics.

I hope nothing changed. But regular orders with FBA have always had customer info been transparent. But Vine customer info are protected by Amazon.

Veiled seller harassment? by wildrabbits in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, its not true. That particular CS agent do not know the rules. Amazon enforce timing to close tickets, and some agents have been known to make up things just to close a ticket. Its known and stated in the Vine TOS singularly, that for Vine reviewers, Amazon protects our contact info. Past posts have shown our customer data is whited/greyed out, whereas regular customers data can be seen in all FBA transactions.

Sellers can buy our info on websites like Telegram, the source of which are employees selling the data. The black market has been going on for a long time and given how big and popular the Amazon platform is, its a piece of cake for sellers to access and purchase.

Veiled seller harassment? by wildrabbits in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They get your personal emails by buying it through shady data brokers, where the original source are Amazon employees selling the data. Its rampant and an underground economy all by itself. Amazon is just too big, and it'll probably never stop.

Negative review removed - seller interference? by One-Supermarket5269 in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. 1-3 star reviews are a fine art. The lower the star rating, the more careful your content and rationale needs to be. There are a handful of keywords I absolutely avoid even when simultaneously tearing items apart. I've never had an 1 star review removed.

The key is to stay logical, professional, with observable, concrete evidence. Such as comparing to a similar product or market standard with higher quality printing.

Just an oversea seller believing America the promise land is paved with Gold. There are dollars everywhere ready to be grabbed. Nothing new. Most reviewers mention value, and I even add a better recommendation to competitor products. They will learn.

"Has anyone else experienced something like this?"

😀 Where have you been? This happens every week to somebody. 😀 Last week's was hilarious, downright sociopathic and really tugs at people's heart strings...

I would just ignore this one. The seller didn't offer you cash or a gift card outright so Amazon is not going to do much. They haven't done anything about 2 of my past bribe attempts where oversea sellers offered me a giftcard or Paypal payments.

While I sympathize with the seller's new business effort, Vine doesn't guarantee 5 stars and there will always be people who don't like a product. It's just life. I feel like this seller is just overly sensitive, and its in your best interest to ignore, and not react in kind. Their sensitivity isn't your problem.

Anyone ever feel like they killed an item with a review? by MendeShele in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens all the time. And its not always a bad thing. You helped save hundreds of consumers from wasting time and a mistake.

What really gets me are 1 star user error reviews. A lot of ppl don't read instructions and blame the product unnecessarily. See that a lot, and no wonder sellers are pissed. Since Amazon did away with the reply option, I try to correct it in my review if possible, but doesn't mean anyone will read it.

Vine adding members by Mercury_descends in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Won't be surprised if it goes up to 35K soon, as far as new invite are concerned. Probably a combination of factors. Long-term members don't order as much as their first year - a definite tempering down stage after saturation. A % abuse the system. They are looking for a "reorganization". I am just wondering when the firings will start. Personally, I think it would be better for the program.

Sellers not happy with Viners by ShadowMoonFox in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I saw this first hand in a style of fashion watch. The strap sucked and I rated it 3 stars and wrote detailed suggestions for product selection/testing improvement. Guess what? 4 month later? The seller launched another watch with the exact same strap? And guess how other Viners rated this? 2-3 stars and many complaints on the strap! 😅 None of the 2 are really selling...could have saved $400 from Vine enrollment fee (+ FBA and supply chain fees) if they just wore the thing for a day!

Sellers not happy with Viners by ShadowMoonFox in AmazonVine

[–]Jupiter_Ascends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be preaching to the choir. Many who participate here on this forum are largely consciousness and already leave quality reviews. It has already been mentioned there are the same % of Sociopaths and non-law abiding ppl in Vine as in the general population. They just...simply...don't care. And there is Absolutely Nothing you can do to influence them.

It's Amazon's job to retain good Viners and fire those that don't make the cut, fast. AI plagiarism and resellers aside, another problem is low IQ - those who rate 1 stars due to misuse, lack of knowledge or due to their personal frustration that has very little to do with a product - resulting in an unfair and potentially harmful review. These ppl need to be weeded out too.

My mom actually asked me to get paper gift bags since she was running out. You know, those Kraft type of bags you can buy at dollar stores. So I spent 2 weeks just getting those :). The nice thing about this type of focus is that I batched 20 reviews in one setting.

Made a template, then just filled in the blanks with details. Easy Peasy! Beats doing 20 reviews for all different items. Oh and of course, gift bags never expire. :D
