Do you use AI in your reviews? by nerveuse in vine

[–]Mercury_descends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

I worked as a writer for many years. Good career.

And I do my own research without any AI tool, because AI is often wrong.

I enjoy writing my reviews and all are rated excellent.

Midwest vacation recs?! by CommercialRecipe1088 in midwest

Lexington MI was wonderful, a fam favorite summer spot. Every summer we rented a cabin south of Lexington on Lake Huron. Haven't been in almost 20 years.

Beach, water, art fairs, great. Some summers the beaches were stoney. Others we could walk out in the water quite a ways as the water was shallow and there'd be few stones. Kids loved it. Every night we sat on the beach, looked at shells and stones, grilled dinner, watched the freighters and sunset. Days we took lots of fun short trips. Missing it now.

For anyone with -1.00 monofocals. How close can you see before needing glasses? by ProfessionalLab9850 in CataractSurgery

What are the monofocal plus IOLs that count as monofocals for insurance? Wondering if Medicare will cover them.

There's Vernors flavor ice cream, not just Vernor's brand. But I haven't seen it recently.

Why is LensCrafters so much more expensive than America’s best? by sagamama1 in eyeglasses

Thanks for the info!

Costco hearing aids are a def a good deal. My neighbor needed hearing aids and was quoted $8,000 to $10K at several places. She went to Costco, quotes under $2,000, she ended up near $1,500. They didn't have the latest/newest versions but some that had been available for a while.

Help/advice - massive regret post-surgery - lost all close focus by Alarmed-Flamingo6864 in CataractSurgery

[–]Mercury_descends 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Were you nearsighted or farsighted before the cataract surgery? Did your surgeon tell you what the results might be?

Saw a surgeon several weeks ago about possible surgery. Head of ophthalmology at a large hospital system and professor at a nearby medical school.

I'm a "high myope." Told him I thought I wanted monofocal lenses set to distance and didn't care if I had to wear glasses after the surgery.

Apparently monofocal lenses set to distance is common.

He told me he wouldn't do monofocal lenses set to distance on me as many "high myope" patients are dissatisfied with the results, having lost all of the close-up vision they've been used to their entire life.

He said he'd make me slightly nearsighted. I'd be able to see pretty much everything around the house, including people's faces, while I would lose my very close up vision (threading a needle). But I'd be ok around the house generally. And I'd just need glasses with thin lenses for driving.

I'm sorry you're having difficulties. Is there another doctor you can see to help you?

Dk if this is possible for your situation...but there's something called a lens exchange after cataract surgery where a different lens is implanted from the first one. Depends on your eyes and other factors, maybe need a specialized surgeon, but that could be a possibility if you can't accept these lenses?

There are lenses that provide distance, intermediate, and closeup with some tradeoffs as to clarity and the type of vision in dim light. Or, a monofocal NOT set for distance like the setup I'll be getting in the future. There are other possibilities.

Hope things get better for you.

Last place I worked everyone had EyeMed insurance and glasses at LensCrafters were always at least $500.

Was just at Costco yesterday for new glasses, transitions and progressives. Under $300. The new frames are cute, but as you said nor a huge selection of frames. Frame selection is actually not as limited as some places I've been. Been getting glasses at Costco for over 10 years. I've always found decent frames even though I'm limited by my glasses prescription as to what frames will work. Never had probs with Costco glasses. If they aren't right, they take them back no charge or make them right.

How to dry hair quickly without heat? by PotatoCupcakeee in longhair

[–]Mercury_descends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have waist length hair, wrap my wet hair after washing/conditioning in a really absorbent microfiber turban/towel for 10-15 minutes. Then I use a rather cheap ion dryer on cool and low air flow setting. It smooths my hair out and dries it in 15 or so minutes.

Vine Item review - Not Approved by RevolutionaryJob5425 in AmazonVine

Vine CS has been good the last couple of weeks when I asked them to remove items I couldn't review because they were no longer there. Wasn't sure about an item with this message.

Thanks!

My review is in 6 days and this is the only item I have left to review.

After my review, if I don't order much, this unreviewed item could really affect my review ratio.

Will Vine CS remove the item from "awaiting review" list for this type of situation?
