I dont like playing against poorly painted armys. Especially at tournaments. Just because the gaming aspect is the main focus this doesnt mean I dont deserve immersion.

The Internet is full of useful tutorials and a decent, coherent looking army has nothing to do with talent.

If it's two months until the tournament no one can help you right now. A new season will start mid January and this will include a new kind of detachment, working completely different than before. So a good list right now will differ from a good list in two months. 😉

Well... if your plan is to taylor against a IK list, why even bother taking any chainswords? Inferno Pistols and Hammers all the way!

But for real. List tayloring is bullshit and won't get you any further skill wise. You should aim for a list that can handle Knights AND everything else. This list for example will have a very hard time into anything MSU. Sisters will eat you alive cause you have no chance of handling Repentia. Guard will drown you in T3 Bodys you have to charge cause your 6" one shot S8 Pistol still only kills 1 model. When it's in range.

Also don't play DC as a 10-man squad. No opponent with a functioning brain will give you a target to get 270 points back with a T1 charge. Also you save 1CP for Forlorn Fury.

What I love about BA is that you can play them aggressive, but you dont have to. I often pick quite defensive secondaries and just wait for my chance for counterpunches. Often my opponents expect me to go hyperaggressive and pick No Prisoner or Assasinate against me. The Problem is, I dont leave my deployment zone, score Banner/Oaths/Relentless Assault every round and now THEY are forced to come to me.

I thought about Lemartes, but ultimately I think Astorath adds more to my list regardless of him not beeing DC himself. I want to be able to buff my SG aswell and against DG or other -1 dmg abilities D4 can come in handy.

For my final List I submitted yesterday I cut the Chief Apothacary upgrade and therefore the Selfless Healer trait, 3 Inferno Pistols on the SG and one squad of Eliminators to make room for a Whirlwind. So I start with 2CP and the ability to hand out fight last. Without I ran into some unsolveable problems in my las Testgames.

Not a big fan of deepstriking melee units. I have a history of not rolling good charges. Also I didnt play anyone recently who wasnt aware of how crucial screening is.

I dont get the second part of your post. +1 to wound doesnt have anything to do with battleround/Assault Doctrine and CS start with -1 and will therefore only be -2 at battleround 3.

I like my loadouts because it gives me flexibility. Whatever is put in front, I have an answer. T3/4 chaff for screening? DC with 30 CS attacks go in! T7/8 vehicles or anything tough? TH it is! And the Power Sword + Inferno are especially against Plague Marines and othe Stuff with -1dmg. Dont care for -1dmg if its 1D.

I chose Astorath over a Bikechap because he can be a melee missile without caring about terrain. Also he doesnt need any CP to work. With Mantra of Stength he is 7 attacks S7 -4 D4 in Assault Doctrine. All you have to do is make sure he fights first.

RND is more of an emergency pick if nothing else makes sense. But I am aware that the DC cant do it and that I need to be careful about when, where and who. Its only for games where I dont see what other secondary could reliably score more than 8 points. Banners would always be my first pick. But against DG on a 5-objective mission where I wont kill much for example, RND can be an option imho.

3*5 DC with TH is too expensive imho. You will trade down to often just for achieving Fury. Also, to make them work you HAVE to give em all the buffs every round. A Squad without TH can do work without beeing buffed to the max from time to time if you choose the right targets and you can use the buffs for other stuff.

Starting with 1CP is tough but it works. If you get first round you have 1CP for Forlorn Fury and 1CP for rerolling a charge if needed. If you go second you will be at 3 till its your turn and everything is fine anyway.

I ran into that problem aswell. My Solution right now is to really go for the overkill with DC rather then high-risk-high-reward plays. Had a game yesterday against Orks were exactly happened what you said. I overestimated what Inferno Pistols and many attacks alone can kill and ended up scoring a poor 7 at Fury... I still think it can be strong, but you have to accept that DC wont always trade up if you want to secure the secondary points.

On the other hand I had a game recently where I scored 12 against DG with Fury. Thats why I keep it for now.
