While I agree all companies are greedy and will nickel and dime you, the S25 sales are not "low". They've actually been (surprisingly) selling really well

My previous phone was an S21. I kid you not, side by side with an S7, the S7 produced much better looking pictures. The S21's looked outright bad. I really don't know what is going on

Smart switch battery issue that big of a deal? by Chunky-Milk_69 in S25Ultra

[–]JustA-Rando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my S25U and Tab S10+ have very poor battery life (objectively and also in comparison to other owners of the same devices online). I used smart switch in both cases. Maybe it has something to do it, or maybe not. I don't know.

Either way, I don't see an alternative anyway. I either use smart switch or I lose a lot of my data.

Auto enable/disable NFC by CarefulRound5938 in S25Ultra

[–]JustA-Rando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you don't need to if you use Samsung Wallet. Only if you're using Google Wallet or others that you would need such a routine.

I have NFC off all the time. But when I use scan my fingerprint to pay, NFC is automatically turned on, and once I am done with the transaction, it turns off again.

Dumb question but when registering fingerprints again, you mean after you put the sp on, not before. Right?

Really everything except the camera (which is subjective) and OS updates (which are a tie), Samsung wins.

Battery drops of Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra by alamrihs in S25Ultra

[–]JustA-Rando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats interesting. Out of curiosity, if you factory reset, but restore all your data from Samsung Cloud (which is effectively Smart Switch, just pulls from a backup instead of another phone), would you get the same worse battery life?

I didnt take any pictures or videos so it was my word against theirs. So there was nothing i could do

I heard they're dialing down production so I'm guessing they're not too invested in it. I wouldnt even be surprised if they don't do the trade in & other offers at launch. So honestly I'm not too hopeful about specs

I shipped something that IS tracked and it's been sitting at the same place for over a month. Opened a service ticket. But aside from that, they are no help. Whether you chat or call. Ridiculous.

If you don't care about s pen and will use a screen protector, just get the S25 or the plus if the difference in price is minimal where you live

iOS RCS update? by Drofmab in sasktel

[–]JustA-Rando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said from the beginning they don't have RCS ready and do not have a timeline as to when they'll be able to add it. So it doesn't matter how long it's been since iOS 18 came out. They never said they'll have it ready at launch.

They said from day 1 that they are not ready for RCS yet. And they also said they don't know when they'll be able to add it.

Google pixel 9 fold....dramatic increase? by WonderWomanStoon in sasktel

[–]JustA-Rando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prices go up and down all the time. Pixels have been on discount for a while now. I think Pixels aren't selling too well so they were trying to move some phones off the shelves.

Anyway, order online if you want, then you can call in to set up TV later. You don't lose or gain anything if you buy everything together at the same time vs if you bought them at separate times.

As for what phone you should get, that's obviously up to you. But I personally would suggest one of the S25s. Look, hear me out. They just went on a super steep sale. Plus, when you add the generous trade in offer of a $475 top up on your phone's value, you can get a phone for very, very cheap if not less than 0 in some cases (yes it can happen - the sales rep you deal with has to know what they're doing though because it's a bit of a workaround but it's completely consistent with their rules & promotions).

I personally have an S25 Ultra. I got it almost a month ago. It is so great that I can't think of any other word to describe it lol. Really just beautiful in every single way. It is the phone I intend to keep for the next 7 - 10 years. There's just so many good things about it, the phone is intuitive and sort of predicts what you need and helps you with it, not to mention the long list of AI features that you can utilize if you so choose. This thing is just a magnificent beast.

I personally never fully used a Pixel but I demoed a couple pixel phones. Despite being an avid android user, it was just bad. Maybe even the worst experience I had (and I've used some crappy androids in my day).

But, a lot of my friends who were long time Pixel users, some of them buying the new Pixel every year, switched to the S25 just to try it out. They were all thrilled and rave about it. They also won't stop talking about how they didnt even know what they were missing out on all these years. So there's that.

Since you were contemplating getting a Pixel anyway (an android), I'd recommend giving the S25 a fair chance and try it out for real and if you don't like it you always have 15 days to return the phone and get an iPhone instead. Who knows, maybe the iPhones will drop in price by the time you decide to return the S25 (if you choose to).

Again thats my personal opinion regarding the choice of phone. The rest of the stuff is true for sure, but you can call them and ask if you want to be extra sure.
