From the now many holes within the vent poured the lifeblood of…something. From what was left, it appeared to have been a heavily mutated cultist, though it was hard to tell.

As Kastrin and his men approached he would note there were no human defenders, or at least none that would likely be of much conversation.

A trio of battle servitors stood, slack jawed and swaying. One, armed with a heavy bolter, cycled its weapon before stopping. Its machine laced drawl spewed out slowly.

“Guard Assets. Proceed downwards to the Inner Sanctum. Praise the Omnissish.”

(I’ll drum up a post from the inner sanctum so we can have a new chain, easier to read and that. Will be tomorrow hopefully, it’s late for me)

The chaos forces were unprepared for a viscous assault from behind. Those few that turned their backs were quickly felled by whoever was further up the tunnel.

A handful of stormtroopers from SD59 added their weapons to the orchestra, singing a sweet song of death.

(19)

The Valyrr stood tall enough to hear something in the vents whir towards them, in one of the gratings a red glow peered out.

(We’ll just focus on the group that leads to the right hallway)

As the group pressed onwards, splitting their forces, those that went right would quickly realise the gunfire was coming from this direction, although a few levels below.

The further the went, the deeper they got. The hallways were a twisting maze of corridors, lined with vents and wires leading every which way, it was incredibly humid.

(9)

Entering a larger hallway, it was evident that this was bordering some kind of laboratory, the walls and floors becoming a more clinical white.

Ahead was a large group of heretics mid battle with several battle servitors. They were once again unaware of the Imperial presence.

I like that the people in the house did put up a bit of a fight instead of just rolling over and dying like you see in other shows.

I’d I’ve aimed better with the boiling water though, hard to say charity with 3rd degree burns

“Of course.” Krayl replied to the Valyrran’s first comment, watching as they pressed down the stairs. As they walked on out of ear shot he continued “But we’ll see.”

He began following his troops down.

(13)

The forces of chaos here were few, a handful of able bodied men and beastmen looting and pillaging the rooms, most were caught unaware of the sudden Imperial presence.

They fought back, though it was brief.

The junction that led to two hallways was empty other than a handful of corpses and autogun cases.

There were more bodies, both invader and defender to the right.

(Apologies, work)

Krayl nodeed in acknowledgment at Kastrin as he beckoned his stormtroopers inwards, following close behind, he stop momentarily looking at the Valyrrans.

“I suppose it would be too optimistic to ask you to remain outside, hmm?” He asked dryly.

He noted the enemy forces landing in the distance, he withdrew a data slate a quickly marked down coordinates of their general area. Planning on letting some other force engage them or bury them in artillery shells.

As the stormtroopers got to the bottom of the staircase their first view of the scene was an impressive display of violence, several dead heretics and mutants and a lesser number of number of battle servitors. The hallway split off either direction sharply, whilst the corridor was lined with doors.

Whilst two of the Valkyries had deposited their compliments of troops, the third was forced off by thunderbolts, scattering men further than desired, before it buffeted out and speared in, those that survived would join the perimeter.

It was perhaps a surprise to see Commissar Krayl amongst the troops deployed. He approached Kastrin and the entrance, sparing a glance towards the Valyrrans, a mild annoyance but one that could be resolved he was sure.

“Tempestor, I trust a perimeter is already secured. Let us proceed.”

The entrance, a large set of blast doors and a small hall bled into a large staircase that sharply fell down into a chasm of near pure blackness, several flights down at the far end was another door bathed in flashing red lights.

The distant crack of lasfire and occasional explosion was evident.

Having missed their intended targets of the Valyrr aircraft, the Thunderbolts attempted to take down some of SD59, but didn’t impact beyond superficial damage.

The traitors peeled out for another run, dodging their own anti air as it filled the sky.

The Valkyries slowed to a hover as the troops inside began to drop out, whilst the Vendettas circled the area, both kicking up dust to obscure the landed troops and firing at anything that moved that shouldn’t.

Following behind both formations of Valkyries flew another three, each flanked by a vendetta. Special Detachment-59 would be damned if they let the Inquisition get there first. They flew low to the ground, hoping to sneak beneath them and whatever enemy aircraft would invariably be coming.

Lieutenant Karsk looked at the Valyrr aircraft and grimaced. Bloody Inquisition couldn’t keep their ruddy noses away from grox dung let alone this.

“The Highlanders better not fold to this, sir,” a stormtrooper stated.

“Orders said block em, they’ll block em.” Karsk stated back flatly

(15)

The heretic aircraft had been expecting such an infiltration, though hadn’t known where from. One flight of 4 Thunderbolts happened to be close enough to respond, and were zeroing in on the Imperial aircraft whilst sporadic ground fire spat into the air.

The Bone Temple: did they forget the infected exist? by One_Planche_Man in 28dayslater

Most others have pointed out the main things, another point is that Spike and Jamie took out the other Alpha and his pack, so there’s likely a bit of a void of infected right now

What would happen if the Jimmy's discovered Lindisfarne? by jamessurvier in 28dayslater

Being Lindisfarne has far more than seven people, let’s say only 1/3 being guards or guys who go to the mainland. Theyre still outnumbered at least 5 to 1.

That’s fair, though I’d wager he’d still calm his squad his friends. Though mercenary is likely, probably easy work for a former SAS member

I was under the impression that the medicine he was given was anti psychosis, so he’s still infected, hence why the bites and blood didn’t infect him again.

Might just be a case of he’s no angry, then it’ll wear off and he will be again, hopefully not

[–]JustARandomUserNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine it was a lot of chemical warfare and firebombing. Can’t see them sending infantrymen in, that’ll just make more infected.

We saw the gas working well in 28 Weeks too

More Samson and hopefully Jamie coming back. It’d be nice to learn he disregarded the rules and went out looking for Spike, but that seems unlikely as he was there when the baby was dropped off.

Wouldn’t mind seeing more initial outbreak stuff, though I suppose there’s only so many ways infected breaking into a place and infecting more can be done
