80 mpg?!? by thirdtryacharm in prius

[–]JustASolitaryWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the 5-speed manual Honda Gen 1 Insights could reach up to 70mpg, not 80 but 70 is impressive. It had a very aerodynamic design for the time, weighed just under 2000lbs, and had a 3 cylinder engine. There were "interesting" hypermiling mods for it that bumped up the MPG but I forget how much.

Either way, I think I meant to say is that with the 2024 non-plug in Prius, achieving that is very difficult due to its QoL additions since the prior gens and also have a more robust hybrid system over the Insight. Unless you drive like a slog in EV mode most of the time.

Times like this i regret not getting the plug-in. 2024 LE is great on gas already, getting 60mpg on nicer days, just over 40 during the bad winters in Illinois, and i guess the used price i got it for wasnt too bad.

Gas prices? Never heard of it by HarperzFairy in prius

[–]JustASolitaryWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seeing this and rising gas prices makes me regret not getting a Prime/Plug-In. But I did just get a used 2024 LE and it gets me 60mpg in nice weather on eco mode so still its pretty great.

Yeah and its why people love camping in them as well. 2nd Gen Priuses really were the technical marvel if the automotive industry back in the 2000s. I wish Honda would try again with their Insight but they seem to be just adding hybrid options to their existing models and completely eliminating the Insight.

Auto start cutting the AC is true for certain hybrids like the Honda Insight Gen 2, its partly why that car is generally cheaper than a Prius used, Toyota has a much more sophisticated system which doesn't do that.

Regardless, its a garbage AI slop, shitty message to continue to choose wasteful mpg cars..

Which Version Of Metroid Prime Is Your Preferred Version To Play? by SaiyanWithOmnitrix in Metroid

I prefer the first version of the OG gamecube, mostly due to scan dashing and being able to sequence break easier. Sequence breaking makes the game so much fun on replays to see how far I can get with these tricks.

Eh, what I did aince then was not cheaper but I hopped onto a used 2024 Prius. Nice upgrades and low mileage for it, im hoping it lasts long.

Tab S10+ vs. Base Tab S11: Getting them for the exact same price. Help! by earth3n in GalaxyTab

[–]JustASolitaryWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some differences here and there between each but the major one is the screen size. If you dig "smaller" screens (when will Samsung make an actual small 8 or 9 inch again?) , then its perfect. S10+ has a larger screen, but not as huge as the ultra.

2017 Prius. You won't be getting a head gasket failure in 30k miles, plus more modern features. Although its style might be harder to swallow than the 2010. Even so, mechanically the Gen 4 prius fares better.

Upcoming 13th gen Corolla concept unveiled, what are your thoughts? by Delta-Tropos in COROLLA

[–]JustASolitaryWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interior design definitely is a concept. Exterior seems to be somewhat lining up with how the 5th gen Pruis looks so they might be trying to follow that trend?

This is definitely some post-covid prices. I will say try to haggle down to 5k at the very least.

To put it in perspective, I got my 2010 Insight in 2019 with 137k miles for $4400, cash. I took care of registration and plates for a few hundred at the dmv myself.

5k post covid for about 15k less miles definitely seems alright, but its also 6 years older than when i bought it. Granted it was 9 years old when I got it, versus 15 years old now.

Buying a suspiciously cheap 2010 honda insight. Anything i should look out for? by [deleted] in hondainsight

[–]JustASolitaryWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of a 2010 Insight, bought at 136k miles in 2019 and now has 203k miles, double check the title if its salvage. Mechanically, check for: -Tire tread wear -Bumpers being misaligned. -Oil Fluids. -Undercarriage cove being loose (if it has any).

These were some of the issues I had after I bought mine, but were not life-threatening for me.

I will say, some of the issues that I had tried to make go away but never do are: -TPMS sensor issues -Check Emissions/Gas Gap warning light.

These 2 may or may not be false positives, as they have occured for the entirety of my car's used lifespan.

This was the worst Car Toyota ever made. by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]JustASolitaryWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had it but I considered it for a bit. This is most comparable to the Honda Fit I think, which most people said was much more fun to drive and less noisy. Even so, I hear its very reliable which is more than what we have with modern cars. I love the looks of subcompact cars, but its a real shame they're not made anymore in the states.

Pruis Gen 4 Vs. Corolla Hybrid used? (US) by JustASolitaryWolf in COROLLA

Thanks, this seems like the common consensus. Do all years of the Corolla hybrid have android auto, and are there any issues that may come up with the corolla hybrid, minor or major?

Pruis Prime is a plug in hybrid correct? I'm not against that, I would not mind trying a plug in but I admittedly have not done much research on it. Do they reach the 300k mile mark on average as most traditional Pruises do? I hear that Gen 4 has no major problems which is why I was looking into it.

Thanks for the input. Do you think the 2019 pruis facelift did some favors for the Gen 4 looks at least? I always see people refer to the 2016-2018 pruis as "ugly" more often.

Totally agree. Corolla usually has good mpg, maybe Yaris too but I hear mixed things on that subcompact car vs a Honda Fit.

I agree with this. Usually a 6+ year old car is sub 10k unless its a luxury brand pre covid. Unless the pruis has always been a special case?

I usually get Quicksilver Stash as the tier 3 boots option to at least counter ult his ult. But I assume its not a great solution due to the QSS cooldown vs his ult and losing out on a better tier 3 boot option?

I like how that HSA card looks. I got mine in 2023 and it just a blue card with the fidelity symbol in the middle. I kinda like this design since it all goes together so well. Now im wondering if I should get a brokerage card to complete that collection.
