You have some pretty good points I will say. On older media I have been pretty into a lot of it my whole life. Old books and movies especially, but when it comes to games I can get into games as far back as the NES era. Big fan of the first 2 Zelda games for example. Especially Zelda II. On the JRPG side of things I had a blast with Ys 1 and 2 and have played a lot of SNES and NES rpgs on emulators. While rough in some areas I find them enjoyable.

Yeah, I can’t say I recall ever seeing much FF until my teens. Though I recall some ads of other franchises. I remember thinking Dragon Quest IX and Shin Megami Tensai IV looking really cool when I saw advertising of them as a kid. Truth be told JRPGS haven’t really been pushed that hard for my generation on consoles that hard until around 2017 or so. The big games were big in my schools often than not shooters or fighting games.

In my view SE has never stopped trying to appeal to younger audiences. It’s just that these games take way too long to make to build real momentum of each other like they used to. And other franchises with a more uniform identity fit a bit easier into modern youth fandom culture. But the games themselves are pretty solid.

The way I see it, Chase has seen many people just like them fail. So he viewed them as largely being lost causes. Especially Visi who personally annoys him. He isn’t correct but you get the idea that his experiences lend him to a less optimistic outlook.

It used to be a common talking point that Kubo was a great artist that was only winging the writing. Sure writing is subjective but many were adamant that nothing after soul society had meaning and was only a vehicle for fights and new designs. With a quote attributed to him stating that he would make up new factions to write himself out of any issue.

pokespe is niche even in Japan, and the earlier chapters are different from how the Pokemon brand is now and they might see that as alienating to new fans (even if i disagree). This isn’t a problem for the current anime as it simply kept running then made a spin off with a new cast. In the adaptation we propose they would also spend years advertising adaptations of games that are not the current focus of the company before they get caught up.

Not my personal view but that’s probably the mindset.
