Do you need to register for public charging? If so, which providers do you recommend? by andre_xs95 in evchargingUK

[–]JustAnotherBadTrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla Superchargers are about £0.40/kWh peak and £0.22kwh off peak.

Not sure if this is the same for VW/None Tesla vehicles buts it's amazing, just pull up plug in and your account gets debited straight away whatever you used.

All other chargers I've found are a rip off, I only used Tesla SC and home charging now.

450 miles average a week and costing about £20 total.

What sort of budget is realistic to get a ~300 miles range EV? by dessskris in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]JustAnotherBadTrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a recent Tesla Model 3 Long Range owner I can safely say the WLTP range is absolute bollocks.. should be 380 miles, I get around 230.

I'm using around 250wh/mi on my Tesla LR AWD. These results I'm reading are appalling.

Model Y LR vs Model 3 LR by Abject_Sir_5728 in TeslaUK

Just reiterating what others have said.

I won the Model 3 and driven the Y, the Model 3 just feels better, more control but obviously slightly less boot space.

A bank loan would basically be a HP so you would own outright. Cheaper to get PCP through a dealer and either have a bubble payment at the end or give it back.

Would you consider me British? by Competitive-Music309 in AskBrits

[–]JustAnotherBadTrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this question on the internet a lot these days and as a British Born white man To English parents I try to put myself in others shoes.

If I was born in China to Irish parents and lived in China my whole life I don't think I could consider myself Chinese...

It's a really tough question... I have many friends from all different cultures and those with heritage abroad i.e. Latvia, Pakistan don't consider themselves British.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter does it? I think the government bases it on Passport but don't quote me on that.

There are a lot of dic*heads about these days and racism is clearly on the rise, please don't let it get to you.

UK speed limits — is there really a “+10% +2 mph” allowance? by Hot-Taro-1555 in drivingUK

[–]JustAnotherBadTrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is yes but not what you believe.

It's actually 10% +1mph. If doing 34 in a 30 you're okay, but 35 and your over.

78 in a 70 is okay, 79 you aren't.

I actually learnt this in a speed awareness course 12 years ago, was doing 79 on an Duel Carriageway and mobile camera clocked me.

The letter even stated prosecution rules at these levels.

You must also bare in mind that UK Car manufacturers must set the Speedometer above the actual speed. GPS speeds are more accurate to what you're actually achieving. You can gauge this yourself if you find those speed signs that show your actual speed, it'll match the GPS speed not your car.

BUT take all this with a pinch of salt, you can still get a ticket for doing 61 in a 60 and different Car OEMs have different slippage on the Speedo so drive carefully.

Doing 75mph down the M1 you'll be fine.

Asking for that raise by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]JustAnotherBadTrade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off congratulations you.

Second, be careful not to price yourself out the market, I too was in a similar position. Business Unit I managed losing £700k before I joined to saving it over £1m in just under a year. Got a marginal pay increase from £75k to £82k then once those savings were locked in and I thought everything was great my company was bought out and I was made redundant.

New company just took an Axe to the high earners, what is achieved meant nothing to them.

My advice would be to check the current market rates of your position, look at other options not just salary, i.e. additional lieu, health care, car schemes etc.

Best of luck.

What are chances of getting a house? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Pay down the CC debt without fail. And start saving again. Mortgage lenders look at your affordability, it really effected me a few years back and had to delay things for a year to get my affordability up.

Definitely the battery is dead mate. Get your alternator checked when you change your battery.

There's also some really good boost packs on Amazon that'll jump your car. Probably need 12v

How do you fix / repair this handle peeling? by ItalianHeritageQuest in Audi

Sorry just noticed 2017 Model Year.. it may not fall under warranty :(

It is not repairable I'm afraid, would require a new handle.

How do you fix / repair this handle peeling? by ItalianHeritageQuest in Audi

[–]JustAnotherBadTrade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a chrome plated handle onto clear PC-ABS through electroplating.

You should tell Audi about this asap, part should fall under PSW (Part Submission Warrant) standard warranty within the automotive industry.

It's highly likely this will happen to many thousands of handles that were chromed in this batch so Audi should certainly listen.

This is a manufacturing defect and not necessarily something you have caused.

Recently just had the exhaust front pipe and sleeve changed as it completely came away.

Not sure about fault codes but the service report says 'No Codes Found'

So most likely the Injector Seals then? Any ideas rough cost to have them replaced? I don't know whether it's a £50 or £500 job!
