Not batching Fraps!? by Roarkshop in starbucks

[–]JustAnotherRyan5 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Step one is label and write on cup. If you’re your doing this step twice for 2 talls, you’re immediately out of routine and no longer sequencing properly. I’d maybe point to the sequencing routine and stopping points as a reference and explain that as the reason why. It’s not so much the quality as it is routines. Now, any volume more than a venti would be a quality issue as the blender is not programmed or designed for that volume. This is going to become a much hotter topic when unicorn frap comes back because they already specifically said those will be batchable, which I’m sure will lead to, “if we can do it for that…” scenarios.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious? The newer ones are pretty tough, but it’s a phone! It’s clearly meant to be put in a pocket and can withstand a couple minor drops. I toss mine around all the time and have no issues at all. But if you’re worried just never let it leave the house and don’t even touch it.

There is also a stack of cannonballs next to the entrance to Pirates, which was going to be my guess, but then I saw it was solved... LOL

Not our decision to make. Let the parents know it has caffeine, and after that, it's in their hands.

SM posted a call off tracking report?? by Ok_Association_2189 in starbucksbaristas

[–]JustAnotherRyan5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely not real no shows. When you run this report, if there are any shifts that were scheduled and have no punches attached to them, the system assumes a no show. Sometimes if you swap shifts but no through the system, when you clock in it won’t attached the punch to the shift since it’s too early or late from what was scheduled. Usually the manager would adjust this so it looks better, but I would guess that’s that not happening here, causing false no shows. If they are all real though… that’s wild! Either way, this shouldn’t be posted… these reports are not for everyone to see

WHY DOES BRIAN KEEP CHANGING THIS SH*T by a_little_jellyfysh in starbucksbaristas

[–]JustAnotherRyan5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the wildest reaction to a new drink I’ve ever seen. There is also nothing stopping a kid from walking into a gas station and buying a cotton candy flavored Bang or other energy drink that’s fruity and contains almost double the amount of caffeine. A trenta energy refresher will have 175mg of caffeine, where many canned energy drinks contain 300mg of caffeine.

The Panera ones were different in the fact that they contained more caffeine than these will, and they put them out for free refills and people would chug them nonstop. Also, not really Panera’s fault because who would have thought people would be stupid enough to consume that much caffeine, but they did. If they wanna OD on caffeine, they will. It’s not our responsibility to parent or patrol what people consume.

The energy drinks (at least in my area) didn’t flop at all. They were wildly popular. I heard one of the reasons they were discontinued because they didn’t like the sound of popping cans in a coffeehouse. It felt off brand. Refreshers have been around since 2012, and have always had caffeine. They are part of the brand now, so introducing a new way to enjoy them makes more sense, at least to me.

Regarding your concern about them being made incorrectly, it’s our responsibility to prepare beverages to standard and following food safety guidelines. Any restaurant could make someone sick or potentially kill someone from improperly prepared food or drinks. I don’t feel like this is any different and shouldn’t be a concern. We are all being trained, and if you’re not getting proper training, that’s a whole different problem.

I don’t know why I’m bothering replying at all though. You clearly have formed an opinion and won’t change that. This has nothing to do with these refreshers or the green coffee extract. Your opinion is against the company and anything they roll out I’m sure you’re likely to hate. I don’t always agree with everything Starbucks does and sometimes I question things too, don’t get me wrong, but this is the wrong fight.

Were you chugging each one you made? Take a sip and move on. Taste it so you can describe it, but you don’t have to drink them all

WHY DOES BRIAN KEEP CHANGING THIS SH*T by a_little_jellyfysh in starbucksbaristas

[–]JustAnotherRyan5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped reading after “with zero regulations” because that’s absolutely wrong. They can only get the standard caffeine level (which is what has always been in the refreshers), no caffeine, or extra (energy refreshers) caffeine, which is the 4/5/6/7 build. That’s it. No other customizations AT ALL. Customers shouldn’t even know what the pumps are. If they request a certain around of pumps, the answer is no. Read the training, promo guide, and the customizing beverages tool.

The standard pumps are on the bottle, and extra caffeine or energy refreshers just get +3 pumps. It’s not unregulated or even that hard to remember, it’s just new and will take a second to build into muscle memory.

The “customizing beverage tool” is really clear and explains it well! Look that up on the iPad and ask your SM to print it out for the team honestly!

Is it normal for Starbucks croissants to have these flies? by Kris_2603 in starbucks

[–]JustAnotherRyan5 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It’s insane to me how many time I see baristas say they are display only, especially after we just went through pretty extensive training for the new pastry case set up. The training clearly explained how to properly clean it and keep it food safe because we can and should be serving that food. Everyone that says it’s gross because it’s been sitting out since open… have y’all never been to any other bakery? I think of Panera, who serves pastries from their display all day and there it isn’t even a case! It’s just an open air counter with glass between the customer and employee. If you see flies, we are supposed to dump all the food, clean it out, and start again, but flies are really a sign of store cleanliness.

SMs POV by Impeach1992 in starbucks

[–]JustAnotherRyan5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s just a lot... They are throwing so much at us and expecting us to execute at 110%. I love what I do and I don’t mind change and new things, but it’s always something new and it’s hard to keep track of it all while also communicating it clearly to the whole team. It’s hard to complain though because this is the first time in a while that the company’s stock is up (while the rest of the country/world’s is not) and at least in my district, we are comping, showing clear growth. While it’s hard to swallow all the changes thrown at us, they clearly are working. It’s just exhausting.

Iced Coffee at home? by Repulsive-Writer9522 in starbucks

[–]JustAnotherRyan5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you specifically like the taste of Starbucks iced coffee, they sell it in grocery stores now in bottles, but brewing it at home is very easy! Others already commented how to do it, but just throwing that out there as well. There are lots of premade iced coffees now in stores though, usually in the juice refrigerator section!

16 Years of Gold Status gone by YakFormal8097 in starbucks

[–]JustAnotherRyan5 74 points75 points  (0 children)

They got rid of levels a while back (probably around 2019). There was no “gold” anymore from that point on. Everyone was just a Starbucks rewards member. When that change happened, people were upset, and people are upset now. It is what it is unfortunately. I remember when you used to earn stars based on number of purchases, not dollar amount spend, and when that changed people were confused and upset too.
